Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lesser Magic is the practice of creating change in the world, yourself and others, and getting what you want, through the application of little known psychological and manipulative techniques, informed by occult wisdom. You project a different persona depending upon the various situations you find yourself in during the course of a day. If speaking to a child, you will speak and behave very differently than if you are speaking to your bank manager, or to your boss at work. This adoption of a specific personality mask is usually done automatically and subconsciously, without us even being aware that it is happening. The aim of this first book in The Apophis Club Lesser Magic Series is to help you recognise and practise some of the more common and useful personality masks, and learn the kinds of situations when you might adopt them. In this way, you can make the personality that you project a conscious choice rather than a default subconscious one. This will enable you to take control in a situation where you might ordinarily have been subservient, or present yourself as exactly the type of person your target needs right now.

Book New Religious Consciousness

Download or read book New Religious Consciousness written by Charles Y. Glock and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2024-06-14 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the mid-1960s, new religious movements—some exotic, some homegrown—have burgeoned all over the United States. A sense of self-awareness and spiritual sensitivity have found expression in the lives of large numbers of people, especially among youth. Why would this happen? What do these movements teach, and what effect do they have on the future? How does religious consciousness relate to other manifestations of social change, such as communal living, group therapy, and radical politics? Beginning in 1971, an extensive research project was undertaken by a team of sociologists, historians, and theologians seeking answers to these questions. Through a combination of interviews and participant observations, they studied new religious and quasi-religious groups in the San Francisco Bay Area, a spawning ground for upwards of one hundred such movements. The New Religious Consciousness opens with reports on three Eastern-based movements: the Healthy, Happy, Holy Organization, Hare Krishna, and Divine Light (more popularly known by the name of its leader, Maharaj Ji). Three quasi-religious movements are then considered: the New Left, the Human Potential Movement (Esalen, EST, Scientology, etc.), and Synanon. Next, three movements having their roots in Western religious traditions are examined: the Christian World Liberation Front (an offshoot of the Jesus Movement), Catholic Charismatic Renewal, and the Church of Satan (whose members believe in witchcraft). Succeeding chapters are devoted to estimating the impact of these movements on established religions and the population at large and to the history of earlier periods of religious ferment in the United States. The book concludes with provocative essays by the editors in which they present separate and differing analyses of the sources, nature, and meaning of the new religious consciousness. A variety of perspectives are represented here: phenomenological, theological, experiential, sociological, and social psychological. The result is a book rich in insight about the nature of new religions. Taken together with a companion volume, Robert Wuthnow's The Consciousness Reformation, also published by University of California Press, The New Religious Consciousness provides the first comprehensive study of American countercultural belief systems. With contributions by: Randall H. Alfred Robert N. Bellah Charles Y. Glock Barbara Hargrove Donald Heinz Gregory Johnson Ralph Lane, Jr. Jeanne Messer Richard Ofshe Thomas Piazza Linda K. Pritchard Donald Stone Alan Tobey James Wolfe Robert Wuthnow This title is part of UC Press's Voices Revived program, which commemorates University of California Press’s mission to seek out and cultivate the brightest minds and give them voice, reach, and impact. Drawing on a backlist dating to 1893, Voices Revived makes high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarship accessible once again using print-on-demand technology. This title was originally published in 1976.

  • Author : Orry Whitehand
  • Publisher : CreateSpace
  • Release : 2015-06-16
  • ISBN : 9781514379981

Download or read book How to Do Sex Magic written by Orry Whitehand and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-06-16 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sex magic is one of the most controversial magical methodologies. It attracts frustrated newcomers to the occult, expecting to have all their lusts fulfilled in steamy orgies. It gives pulpit thumpers something to rant about. It makes for lurid headlines in newspapers with more regard for sales than facts. All of these things just go to show the enormous human fascination with sex. Which is precisely why sexuality and desire can be harnessed for magical ends. Wherever such levels of obsession exist, the magical powerhouse of the subconscious can be readily tapped. That being said, to use such obsessions effectively is quite different in practice than most people would imagine. If you are reading this book hoping to find a world in which your sexual fantasies will be fulfilled, you're going to be disappointed. This book is about using sexuality to power magic, not the other way around. There are some absolutely excellent manuals on the more advanced techniques of sex magic out there. This book is not one of them. Its purpose is to guide the interested newcomer in a safe and effective way. None of its practices involve unsafe sex or BDSM techniques. All are practised solo or with an existing partner. We will be looking at the following specific areas in this book, which cover both magic for results (the casting of spells) and magic for self-transformation (initiatory magic): The Magic of Desire Sexual Response as an Engine Auto-Erotic Spells Channelling Desire to an Effect Vision Magic Touching the Divine Other Applications

This book explores how magical images are expected to work with the shamans and spirit mediums who tend and use them in contemporary South Korea, Vietnam, Myanmar, Bali, and elsewhere in Asia. Book Play as Symbol of the World

Download or read book Play as Symbol of the World written by Eugen Fink and published by Indiana University Press. This book was released on 2016-06-06 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eugen Fink is considered one of the clearest interpreters of phenomenology and was the preferred conversational partner of Edmund Husserl and Martin Heidegger. In Play as Symbol of the World, Fink offers an original phenomenology of play as he attempts to understand the world through the experience of play. He affirms the philosophical significance of play, why it is more than idle amusement, and reflects on the movement from "child's play" to "cosmic play." Well-known for its nontechnical, literary style, this skillful translation by Ian Alexander Moore and Christopher Turner invites engagement with Fink's philosophy of play and related writings on sports, festivals, and ancient cult practices.
