This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensive treatise on the reticuloendothelial system is a project jointly shared by individual members of the Reticuloendothelial (RE) Society and bio medical scientists in general who are interested in the intricate system of cells and molecular moieties derived from those cells which constitute the RES. It may now be more fashionable in some quarters to consider these cells as part of what is called the mononuclear phagocytic system or the lymphoreticular sys tem. Nevertheless, because of historical developments and current interest in the subject by investigators from many diverse areas, it seems advantageous to present in one comprehensive treatise current information and knowledge con cerning basic aspects of the RES, such as morphology, biochemistry, phylogeny and ontogeny, physiology, and pharmacology as well as clinical areas including immunopathology, cancer, infectious diseases, allergy, and hypersensitivity. It is anticipated that by presenting information concerning these apparently het erogeneous topics under the unifying umbrella of the RES attention will be focused on the similarities as well as interactions among the cell types constitut ing the RES from the viewpoint of various disciplines. The treatise editors and their editorial board, consisting predominantly of the editors of individual vol umes, are extremely grateful for the enthusiastic cooperation and enormous task undertaken by members of the biomedical community in general and especially by members of the American as well as European and Japanese Reticuloen dothelial Societies.

Book The Reticuloendothelial System and Immune Phenomena

Download or read book The Reticuloendothelial System and Immune Phenomena written by N. R. Di Luzio and published by Springer. This book was released on 1971-07 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The potential importance of this system in atherogenesis as well as the accent on the possible and provocative immune nature of the atherogenic process are stressed. The newer techniques which are presented will permit the investigation of important clinical and experimental aspects which have hitherto escaped investigation and will contribute to the elucidation of the role of the reticuloendothelial system in health and disease. Indeed, the key to the elimination of many diseases of man may well be found within the cells which comprise this system, as more and more of their diverse and versatile activities become known.

Book Tissue Culture and Reticuloendothelial System

Download or read book Tissue Culture and Reticuloendothelial System written by P. Röhlich and published by VSP. This book was released on 1984-12 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tissue cultivation is a methodological discipline of growing interest in biomedical research. In addition to its essential contributions to contemporary concepts of cell biology, tumour pathology and other fields, it yields model systems for biological and pharmocological research and is a frequent tool used in biotechnology. One of the fields in which cell culture is broadly applied is in research on the reticuloendothelial system (RES). This close link between cell culture and RES prompted the European Tissue Culture Society and the European Reticuloendothelial Society to organize a joint congress. Tissue Culture and Reticuloendothelial system, as the proceedings of this joint congress, contains results and data on the latest advances presented. This book will be of great interest to researchers in the fields of cell culture, RES, immunology, cancer research, endocrinology and biochemistry.

Download or read book Interventional Radiology written by Bradley B. Pua and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2018-12-03 with total page 737 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2012, the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) approved Interventional Radiology (IR) as its own specialty. Born out of the field of Diagnostic Radiology, IR requires a more clinical focus on initial consultation and post-procedural management, rather than its previous role of performing image-guided procedures. Interventional Radiology: Fundamentals of Clinical Practice is written with this new focus in mind to help readers incorporate their procedural knowledge into a holistic approach of patient management. Chapters explore topics across a broad spectrum of IR, with a focus on etiology and pathophysiology of disease, followed by discussions on intra-procedural and post-procedural management. Numerous tables and boxes, and over 420 total figures complement chapter content. This comprehensive text is a must-have text for IR residents and reference for all practicing interventional radiologists.

Book Antigens Lymphoid Cells and the Immune Response

Download or read book Antigens Lymphoid Cells and the Immune Response written by G. J. V. Nossal and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Antigens, Lymphoid Cells, and the Immune Response deals with the nature and properties of antigens and with the functional anatomy and cell physiology of the mammalian lymphoid system which responds to antigens. The book discusses the central questions in cellular immunology; the antigens and the afferent limb of the immune response; and antibodies and the afferent limb of the immune response. The text also describes the organ distribution of antigens; the functional anatomy of the lymphoid system; and the behavior patterns of lymphoid cells. The microscopic and electron microscopic distribution of antigen in lymphoid organs; the interaction of antigens with cells of the reticuloendothelial system; and the interaction of antigen with lymphoid cells are also considered. The book further tackles the role of antigen in immunological tolerance; antibody production and tolerance dissociated; and antigen and lymphoid cells.
