Book excerpt: The title of this book came to me in a miraculous way: I saw the book's title and cover in a vision from God. That was the sixteenth miraculous experience of my life. I have since then had 30 more miraculous experiences important enough to be included in this book. Some people seem to get all the bad luck; the prophet Amos told of a man running away from a bear, who then encounters a lion, and escapes inside his house only to be bitten by a snake (Amos 5:19) Some few exceptionally lucky ones win the lottery more than once. I like to say that I am truly the luckiest man alive because I won the God lottery many times: What is the jackpot? Over the last 47 years God has blessed me with more than forty-seven miraculous spiritual experiences. Any miracle is amazing but some of the things I've experienced have been completely mind blowing. This book is a report on what I experienced and what I learned from my experiences. As you read along, I believe you will understand why I say that I am truly the luckiest man alive. The miraculous experiences I've experienced fall into only four categories: 1. Signs & wonders God performed to communicate a message 2. Appearances of God - Father, Son & Holy Spirit 3. Hearing God speak to me or to others for me, and 4. God using me to rescue people from injury, illness, or rape.

We usually want to blame others, including God, for our decisions. Only by examining the paths we have taken can we really see where we're at! It is only when we look deep within ourselves we discover that as writers, singers, musicians, interior decorators, or even truck drivers, we all have gifts! Having them is not to question; rather, it is WHAT WE DO WITH THEM that really matters! Wherever your passions lie, you can erase your doubts and restore your joy. Just imagine yourself on a park bench...

This book was released on 2016-01-11 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "[A] fascinating account of the twisted threads of murder, ethnic violence and mob justice in 19th century Southern California." —Jill Leovy, author of Ghettoside: A History of Murder in America, in the Los Angeles Times Los Angeles is a city founded on blood. Once a small Mexican pueblo teeming with Californios, Indians, and Americans, all armed with Bowie knives and Colt revolvers, it was among the most murderous locales in the Californian frontier. In Eternity Street: Violence and Justice in Frontier Los Angeles, "a vivid, disturbing portrait of early Los Angeles" (Publishers Weekly), John Mack Faragher weaves a riveting narrative of murder and mayhem, featuring a cast of colorful characters vying for their piece of the city. These include a newspaper editor advocating for lynch laws to enact a crude manner of racial justice and a mob of Latinos preparing to ransack a county jail and murder a Texan outlaw. In this "groundbreaking" (True West) look at American history, Faragher shows us how the City of Angels went from a lawless outpost to the sprawling metropolis it is today.

He is fighting 111 Health, lack of education, and frustration with his view of the world and the church. The book concludes with him leaving College and University for the Manse of his first church then aged 37. The 'road' is full of humorous and interesting situations when he does almost every kind of work a man can think of, Lift attendant, Civil Servant, factory worker, office and shop work. A House Master to children, Motor mechanic, Actor, Preacher, Tea boy and Manager, and more. Set in the years 1937 to 1960 there are memories of war torn-, blitzed London with miracle escapes from bombs and Doodle Bugs, Nostalgic looks at shop girls when they lived in poor conditions over the shop. And the pre war Pawnbroker. We see him facing girl temptations where only God can deliver him, and later on marriage and family life. And through all these adventures he consistently holds to a belief that God has a plan for his life, and he must find it. In the end he gives up looking for God's plan, and then God steps in with a box of miracles which continue to the very last page. This book will cause laughter, sometimes a tear perhaps, will certainly entertain, and maybe make the reader ask "could something in this book be Just for me !" Comments of a few who have read this before publishing. "What a nice read. Pity there are not more books like this, they make you feel happy, and good" I really enjoyed your book, It is well written and of real interest. I'm not a religious man and therefore not so keen on the God-slot, but I admire your sincerity and without that the book would be spoiled. Keep it just as it is and try to get it published, if you write another I would buy it. Very Good work. Read your book by accident, couldn't put it down .Excellent, interesting and enjoyable. Would love to see it in print. (Another Book is coming soon "Long Road of Miracles")

Book excerpt: An Indie Next Pick "Mr. Eternity will be sizzling in my brain for a long time." -Lauren Groff A Thurber Prize Finalist of exuberance and ambition, spanning one thousand years of high-seas adventure, environmental and cultural catastrophe, and enduring love. Key West, 2016. Sea levels are rising, coral reefs are dying. In short, everything is going to hell. It's here that two young filmmakers find something to believe in: an old sailor who calls himself Daniel Defoe and claims to be five hundred and sixty years old. In fact, old Dan is in the prime of his life--an incredible, perhaps eternal American life. The story unfolds over the course of a millennium, picking up in the sixteenth century in the Viceroyalty of New Granada and continuing into the twenty-sixth, where, in the future Democratic Federation of Mississippi States, Dan serves as an advisor to the King of St. Louis. Some things remain constant throughout the centuries, and being on the edge of ruin may be one. In 1560, the Spaniards have destroyed the Aztec and Inca civilizations. In 2500, we've destroyed our own: the cities of the Atlantic coast are underwater, the union has fallen apart, and cars, plastics, and air conditioning are relegated to history. But there are other constants too: love, humor, and old Dan himself, always adapting and inspiring others with dreams of a better life. An ingenious, hilarious, and genre-bending page-turner, Mr. Eternity is multiple novels in one. Together they form an uncommon work--about our changing planet and its remarkable continuities.

Book The Long Way Home

    Book Details:
  • Author : John Demont
  • Publisher : McClelland & Stewart
  • Release : 2017-10-03
  • ISBN : 0771025130
  • Pages : 306 pages

Download or read book The Long Way Home written by John Demont and published by McClelland & Stewart. This book was released on 2017-10-03 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The province's premier journalist tells the story he was born to write. No journalist has travelled the back roads, hidden vales and fog-soaked coves of Nova Scotia as widely as John DeMont. No writer has spent as much time considering its peculiar warp and weft of humanity, geography and history. The Long Way Home is the summation of DeMont's years of travel, research and thought. It tells the story of what is, from the European view of things, the oldest part of Canada. Before Confederation it was also the richest, but now Nova Scotia is among the poorest. Its defining myths and stories are mostly about loss and sheer determination. Equal parts narrative, memoir and meditation, The Long Way Home chronicles with enthralling clarity a complex and multi-dimensional story: the overwhelming of the first peoples and the arrival of a mélange of pioneers who carved out pockets of the wilderness; the random acts and unexplained mysteries; the shameful achievements and noble failures; the rapture and misery; the twists of destiny and the cold-heartedness of fate. This is the biography of a place that has been hardened by history. A place full of reminders of how great a province it has been and how great—with the right circumstances and a little luck—it could be again.

Book The Gospel of Mark Eternity and Readiness

Download or read book The Gospel of Mark Eternity and Readiness written by George Andrew and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2014-10-15 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Marks gospel, numbering a little over sixteen chapters, God shares his message and his plan about eternity through Jesus. As the first gospel writer, Mark describes Jesus sermon on eternity and initiates the discussion of daily life and spirituality and their relationship as dramatized by Jesus. His vocation of readiness meets Gods flowing plan daily and proposes the same readiness for Christians. In The Gospel of MarkEternity and Readiness, author George Andrew offers a journey through the gospel of Mark and presents a look at this intersection of eternity and readiness. He proposes the lifeblood of faith as the sole root of readiness, and he offers his views and perceptions of the life of Jesus as told through the words of the oldest gospel. Andrewa modern, independent laymantaps into his intuitive side to share his view of God and the spiritual experience. A New Testament commentary that acts like a walk with Jesus, Andrew shows how Mark allows a life of thought, action, and essence to unfold. It calls believers to a muscular Christianityone that is strong and of today and helps address the spiritual exhaustion, shallowness, and the questioning torpidity of the time.
