Defining, gathering, and disseminating international statistics is a collective effort of many people and organizations. The indicators presented in World Development Indicators are the fruit of decades of work at many levels, from the field workers who administer censuses and household surveys to the committees and working parties of the national and international statistical agencies that develop the nomenclature, classifications, and standards fundamental to the international statistical system. Nongovernmental organizations have also made important contributions. We are indebted to the World Development Indicators partners, as detailed in World Development Indicators 2017 .

Book U S Climate Policy and Technology

Download or read book U S Climate Policy and Technology written by Peter Schniering and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why have many U.S. administrations focused so explicitly on technology in their climate policy approaches? What enabled the Bush administration to justify its vehement opposition to absolute emissions targets with a longer-term technological vision? This volume argues that the administration's strategy can only be understood by considering cultural conceptions of technology and the environment that have developed over centuries and are deeply embedded in American environmental thought. Author Peter Schniering has been working on international climate and energy policy since 2002, working as a consultant to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the International Energy Agency. This book is based on his dissertation.
