Learning, however, that another volume relating to St. Hugh was to be expected from the same able editor, I naturally deferred the completion of my work till this appeared. The unfortunate illness and death of Mr. Dimock, which deprived historical students of a most valuable guide, retarded the publication of the expected volume (vol. vii. of the Works of Giraldus Cambrensis) for several years. At length it has appeared, the able editorship of Mr. Freeman supplying what was unfinished by Mr. Dimock.
