Book excerpt: The Lethal Oath is the second book in The Viking Series. In the novel, Sigve enters into a hot erotic relationship with Yljali. She is a mysterious thrall girl and the only person who knows the secret of Sigve's sword. She knows the slayer rune, the spell that quickens the sword and gives its wielder superhuman strength. Despite his young age - and mostly because of the slayer rune - Sigve has gained reputation as a swordsman. In the beginning of the book, Sigve becomes the youngest chieftain in King Godred's realm. During the inaugural feast, on his sword, he swears a sacred oath, only to discover it stands in the way for his getting Yljali in bed. Sigve breaks the oaths with dire consequences. His sexual desire gets out of control; he finds himself in conflict with both his mother and his captain of arms, and he gets deeply involved in the war between Godred and Harald Greycloak, two mighty kings. Soon Sigve has to fight for Yljali, for the people at Vik, and for his own survival.

With President Anthony Cook convinced that Mitch Rapp poses a mortal threat to him, CIA Director Irene Kennedy is forced to construct a truce between the two men. The terms are simple: Rapp agrees to leave the country and stay in plain sight for as long as Cook controls the White House. In exchange, the administration agrees not to make any moves against him. This fragile détente holds until Cook’s power-hungry security adviser convinces him that Rapp has no intention of honoring their agreement. To put him on the defensive, they leak the identity of his partner, Claudia Gould. As Rapp races to neutralize the enemies organizing against her, he discovers that a new type of assassin is on her trail. Known only as Legion, the shadowy killer has created a business model based on double-blind secrecy. Neither the assassin nor the client knows the other’s identity. Because of this, Legion can’t be called off nor can they afford to fail. No matter how long it takes—weeks, months, years—they won’t stand down until their target is dead. Faced with the seemingly impossible task of finding and stopping Legion, Rapp and his people must close ranks against a world that has turned on them in this white-knuckled thriller filled with “plenty of action and political intrigue” (Booklist).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many observers of Kenya’s complicated history see causes for concern, from the use of public office for private gain to a constitutional structure historically lopsided towards the executive branch. Yet efforts from critics and academics to diagnose the country’s problems do not often consider what these fiscal and political issues mean to ordinary Kenyans. How do Kenyans express their own political understanding, make sense of governance, and articulate what they expect from their leaders? In For Money and Elders, Robert W. Blunt addresses these questions by turning to the political, economic, and religious signs in circulation in Kenya today. He examines how Kenyans attempt to make sense of political instability caused by the uncertainty of authority behind everything from currency to title deeds. When the symbolic order of a society is up for grabs, he shows, violence may seem like an expedient way to enforce the authority of signs. Drawing on fertile concepts of sovereignty, elderhood, counterfeiting, acephaly, and more, Blunt explores phenomena as diverse as the destabilization of ritual “oaths,” public anxieties about Satanism with the advent of democratic reform, and mistrust of official signs. The result is a fascinating glimpse into Kenya’s past and present and a penetrating reflection on meanings of violence in African politics.

Book Hippocrates Oath and Asclepius Snake

Download or read book Hippocrates Oath and Asclepius Snake written by T.A. Cavanaugh and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017-11-01 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: T. A. Cavanaugh's Hippocrates' Oath and Asclepius' Snake: The Birth of the Medical Profession articulates the Oath as establishing the medical profession's unique internal medical ethic - in its most basic and least controvertible form, this ethic mandates that physicians help and not harm the sick. Relying on Greek myth, drama, and medical experience (e.g., homeopathy), the book shows how this medical ethic arose from reflection on the most vexing medical-ethical problem -- injury caused by a physician -- and argues that deliberate iatrogenic harm, especially the harm of a doctor choosing to kill (physician assisted suicide, euthanasia, abortion, and involvement in capital punishment), amounts to an abandonment of medicine as an exclusively therapeutic profession. The book argues that medicine as a profession necessarily involves stating before others what one stands for: the good one seeks and the bad one seeks to avoid on behalf of the sick, and rejects the view that medicine is purely a technique lacking its own unique internal ethic. It concludes noting that medical promising (as found in the White Coat Ceremony through which U. S. medical students matriculate) implicates medical autonomy which in turn merits respect, including honoring professional conscientious objections.

Book excerpt: This fourth edition of the first true textbook on the death penalty engages the reader with a full account of the arguments and issues surrounding capital punishment. The book begins with the history of the death penalty from colonial to modern times, and then examines the moral and legal arguments for and against capital punishment. It also provides an overview of major Supreme Court decisions and describes the legal process behind the death penalty. In addressing these issues, the author reviews recent developments in death penalty law and procedure, including ramifications of newer case law, such as that regarding using lethal injection as a method of execution. The author’s motivation has been to understand what motivates the "deathquest" of the American people, leading a large percentage of the public to support the death penalty. The book will educate readers so that whatever their death penalty opinions are, they are informed ones.

Book Lethal Injustice

    Book Details:
  • Author : Juan B. Botero
  • Publisher : Archway Publishing
  • Release : 2021-05-27
  • ISBN : 1665701900
  • Pages : 408 pages

Download or read book Lethal Injustice written by Juan B. Botero and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2021-05-27 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A decade before Candidate Donald Trump announced his newly acquired obsession with building a wall on the US-Mexico border, investigative journalist Juan B. Botero denounced Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo to the House Ethics Committee because of his bizarre obsession with building a wall “paid for by the Mexican government.” In the summer of 2006, he warned members of Congress and Colorado voters that if Tancredo’s localization of World War II German-Italian fascism into American politics wasn’t derailed, it would trigger a national crisis in a decade. In spite of severe childhood traumas involving Mexicans, the self-appointed Chairman of the Immigration Reform Caucus refused to recuse himself from shaping US immigration policy and the Ethics Committee did nothing. In June of 2015, Donald Trump announced his Presidential ambitions channeling Tancredo’s anger issues by denigrating Sephardic Jews (Hispanics / Latinos) as “murderers” and “rapists” in hardline, offensive tones. Tancredo’s poisonous mix of vendetta against Mexicans eventually spread from Congress to the Executive Branch through Steve Bannon and Stephen Miller as the moral blueprint for the Trump Administration. Lethal Injustice exposes the corrupt Americanized fascism that hijacked the Party of Lincoln in 2015, atrocities against immigrants by white-supremacist vigilantes on the US-Mexico border, and the unprecedented friendliness of conservative anti-immigrant influencers towards Russia. After 6 years of studying Trump’s astonishing deference towards Vladimir Putin, the shocking conclusion is that he married not one but two honeytraps loyal to Eastern European intelligence: agent of influence Ivana Zelníková Trump from Czechoslovakia and agent of influence Melania Knavs Trump from Slovenia. Trump’s marriage to Melania Knavs was the result of a highly sophisticated kompromat operation set up by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Upon taking the Oath of Office on January 20th of 2017, Donald Trump committed treason by aiding, abetting and advancing a Russian-owned honeytrap to the rank of First Lady of the United States. Unlike her Red Sparrow comrades Anna Chapman Kushchyenko and Maria Valeryevna Butina, Melania Knavs remains at large as the most beautiful, dangerous and strategically placed human intelligence (HUMINT) asset of the former KGB and the greatest failure of American intelligence. Lethal Injustice presents evidence for a criminal investigation of former President Trump for treason. Hiding behind his justification of violence against immigrants, his incitement of violence at the US Capitol on January 6 of 2021 and his steady undermining of America’s global prestige are the mission objectives of sexpionagent Melania Knavs, the superbly trained communist ex-prostitute from the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The only way a supermodel, pornographic film actress and commercial sex worker can become First Lady of the United States only 10 years after becoming a US citizen is with the backing of a well-planned and highly orchestrated foreign intelligence operation. Russian President Vladimir Putin summed it up when he boasted that Russian prostitutes are “the best in the world.” Former President Donald Trump must be held accountable for aiding and abetting domestic terrorism, for violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) with his family and for misprision of treason against the United States of America by marrying two honeytraps loyal to the interests of the Russian Federation. To review the evidence and perspectives derived from 18 years of research, the documents and exhibits related to the lawsuit filed in Federal District Court, and to understand why their publication has been subjected to massive cyberattacks, go to www.Lethalinjustice.com

Book excerpt: #1 New York Times bestselling author of American Assassin—now a major motion picture—and “the voice of today’s postmodern thriller generation” (The Providence Journal) delivers a pulse-pounding novel starring a young, hungry, and lethal operative named Mitch Rapp as he begins his career as a CIA superagent. In the year since the CIA fully trained and then unleashed him, Mitch Rapp has been steadily working his way through a list of men, bullet by bullet. His latest target takes him to Paris but in the split second it takes the bullet to leave Rapp’s silenced pistol, everything changes. The tables have turned, and Rapp finds himself brutally outnumbered. In the same instant, he has become a liability. Operating on his own and outside the control of his handlers, it soon becomes clear that nothing is more dangerous than a wounded and cornered man. Because if anyone can survive and come out on top, no matter whom he must kill to get there, it’s Mitch Rapp. The stakes are higher than they’ve ever been as Mitch Rapp embarks on the journey that will turn him into America’s most deadly asset. The non-stop and realistic action proves that “Flynn is a master—maybe the master—of writing thriller novels in which the pages seem to turn themselves” (Bookreporter).

Book Lethal Engagement

Download or read book Lethal Engagement written by Joseph A. Klein and published by Tate Publishing. This book was released on 2010-09 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Full constitutional rights for foreign Islamic terrorist detainees. Apologies to the Muslim world for American 'misdeeds, ' and promises to make amends even if the security of the American people is placed in peril. Welcoming radical Muslim sympathizers into high positions of authority. Abridging freedom of expression. And much, much more. Lethal Engagement documents how in these and other ways President Barack Hussein Obama has forsaken the oath of office he took to 'preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.' Lethal Engagement exposes how radical Muslims are re-branding their barbaric ideology to fool their gullible audience in the West and how they play the racism victim card, all with President Obama's help. Lethal Engagement systematically lays out the dangerous entanglement of Obama with the United Nations, which radical Muslims are manipulating to promulgate international law to their liking, and how his nomination of more activist judges willing to throw away the Constitution allows radical Muslims to subvert American law. Lethal Engagement also reveals the radical Muslim plan to destroy the value of the dollar and use the United Nations to replace it with a new global reserve currency, all helped along by the Obama administration's disastrous economic policies. After connecting all these dots, Joseph Klein explains the steps 'we the people' must take to rescue our country
