Book excerpt: You do not want to be another Methuselah, the oldest man in history, who lived an impressive 969 years; that teaches us the importance of not living long for nothing because we can remember him for nothing more prominent than the massive number of years he lived for. Living a life of impact is the responsibility of those who wish to make a significant difference in the world. This involves creating value, solving problems, influencing others, and leaving a lasting legacy. Impact is the measure of the influence one's actions, choices, or presence has on others and the world around them. It goes beyond superficial achievements and focuses on creating meaningful change, whether in individuals' lives, communities or on a global scale. It gives our lives purpose and fulfilment, knowing that we have made a difference in the lives of others. The impact is not something that happens by chance or accident but is a result of deliberate and purposeful efforts to create meaningful change. It is not limited to grand gestures or large-scale initiatives; even small actions can have a ripple effect and make a significant difference in someone's life or society as a whole. Ultimately, the impact is about leaving a lasting legacy and inspiring others to follow in your footsteps. Impact matters because it allows us to make a positive difference in the world, address societal issues, and improve the lives of others. It provides a sense of purpose and fulfilment, inspiring others to take action and creating a ripple effect. Impact also affects happiness, fulfilment, and legacy. Happiness is a state of being satisfied and content with life. At the same time, fulfilment is a state of being satisfied and content with work. Impact increases fulfilment by providing a sense of purpose, aligning work with values, motivating goals, rewarding individuals, and creating opportunities for learning and improvement. Legacy is the state of being remembered and respected by others after death. Impact can increase it by providing significance and influence, affecting lives and the world positively, inspiring others, creating value, and leaving a lasting legacy. The impact can be achieved in various domains and contexts. It can be achieved by anyone, regardless of age, gender, race, or background.

Download or read book Methuselah s Hidden Antediluvian Abridgement written by James Hendershot and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2014-10-14 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Too much of humanity's history might have been lost through the great flood, which mercifully rendered humankind another chance to dwell on the Earth. This fictional account through Methuselah begins with the creation of the two Earths and follows Adam through his multiple wives torn by sons who murder each other. His remaining sons divide into tribes separated by their relationship with the creator. Nonetheless, wickedness rose in Seth's tribe, while righteousness comes forth from Cain's seed. Eve rewards Irad after he avenges the murder of his mother who was a favored stepdaughter of Eve. Eve rewards Irad with three of her cherished daughters. They launch a new homeland beyond the two established borders, and through their faith in the God of Adam find favor with the Ancient One, who reestablishes his covenant with a descendant of Habil (Cain). Lilith and several of her daughter's bond with Duci, one of Irad's wives, exploring the wild unsettled bulk of Pangaea lands beyond the invisible border, which protects humanity from the hungry dinosaurs living in the open wilderness. Duci, with help from the Nephilim build the foundations for their two new cities and multiple temples. Irad's tribe sails on secret ships to the southern hemisphere and build a Holy nation serving the Ancient One. Enoch settles his small family on a mountaintop protected by angels as humanity falls into the final stage of wickedness. Irad and his wives end their long fruitful lives, nevertheless; they watch from heaven as the vast majority of their family chose to follow their own gods and disown the Ancient One. Just three young men, who must sail to a distant island with their wives, remain servants of the Ancient One. Noah builds a giant rectangle ship boarding his sons and many wild animals saving them through a large flood. Avram sails through the flood with his small group while watching death consume the lands.

Book Roctogenarians

Download or read book Roctogenarians written by Mo Rocca and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2024-06-11 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From beloved CBS Sunday Morning correspondent Mo Rocca, author of New York Times bestseller Mobituaries, comes an inspiring collection of stories that celebrates the triumphs of people who made their biggest marks late in life. Eighty has been the new sixty for about twenty years now. In fact, there have always been late-in-life achievers, those who declined to go into decline just because they were eligible for social security. Journalist, humorist, and history buff Mo Rocca and coauthor Jonathan Greenberg introduce us to the people past and present who peaked when they could have been puttering—breaking out as writers, selling out concert halls, attempting to set land-speed records—and in the case of one ninety-year tortoise, becoming a first-time father. (Take that, Al Pacino!) In the vein of Mobituaries, Roctogenarians is a collection of entertaining and unexpected profiles of these unretired titans—some long gone (a cancer-stricken Henri Matisse, who began work on his celebrated cut-outs when he could no longer paint), some very much still living (Mel Brooks, yukking it up at close to one hundred). The amazing cast of characters also includes Mary Church Terrell, who at eighty-six helped lead sit-ins at segregated Washington, DC, lunch counters in the 1950s, and Carol Channing, who married the love of her life at eighty-two. Then there’s Peter Mark Roget, who began working on his thesaurus in his twenties and completed it at seventy-three (because sometimes finding the right word takes time.) With passion and wonder Rocca and Greenberg recount the stories of yesterday’s and today’s strongest finishers. Because with all due respect to the Golden Girls, some people will never be content sitting out on the lanai. (PS Actress Estelle Getty was sixty-two when she got her big break. And yes, she’s in the book.)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Back to Methuselah, by Bernard Shaw, is a play where the author expresses his reflections on the topic of religion and atheism, science, politics, and history. The preface of the book deals with popular thoughts, institutions, and most sacred beliefs. Shaw gives a history of the different beliefs towards the nature of a human and the universe. He goes on with his own mental struggles and evolution. Shaw criticizes the church and its followers, whom he calls idolaters. He says that their superstitions and legends actually deter people from the divine. But he criticizes atheism too and reflects on how the atheists manipulate the Darwin teachings of evolution.

Download or read book Higher Living written by Holly Hester and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-03-31 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I wrote this book after many people telling me throughout years of ministry that I should. I have traveled to many places, and I have found that people ask me the same question over and over, “Holly, how do I truly live higher?” I decided to write this book to simply answer that question. It is my sincere hope that after you read this book, not only will you have the insight to do just that, but you will know what it personally means to you to live in your higher life. I hope this book helps you find your true calling and purpose directly given by the Lord. As we dive into these books, into each chapter, I ask one thing only—be open. Be open to more. Let me explain. There are levels in each of us to live out our desire to live to a higher living. The desire should be there to begin. When the desire is there, access is the way—a higher level called the beyond then occurs for us. This is where living higher begins. Posture will change. There is a certain level of insight, purpose, and access that is achieved when desire grows and posture changes. There is a birthing. It is not simply living only, a mistake of thought so many make. So here is the question again, “How?” The answer is not how. It is desire, posture, and access to a higher way. Let us start with desire. The word desire is translated from the Greek word epithumia from epi, meaning “focused on.” Another use of this term is “inordinate” or excessively large. It is my prayer that we have an inordinate desire to truly live higher and to focus on what this can mean for us in the same way it meant to me as I have written each chapter. It is my strong desire that we focus right now. When there is a lack of focus, vision becomes very blurry. I can recall having a blurred vision when others would ask me what living higher meant. I can even recall a time when a picture was taken of me as a child with my eyes closed. A relative later found this picture and asked me how I was able to sleep standing up while the camera caught my image. I ask us all that my relative asked me, How are we able to keep our eyes closed right now? Let us have the strong, inordinate desire to focus on the moment. This desire to open our eyes will naturally pull the camera lens to us. What happened? Nothing. We opened our eyes. After desire comes to posture. Picture posture is necessary when capturing a memory. Are we willing to change our posture for the cameras in life? It’s interesting what happens after we open our eyes for the camera changes our position. Finally, we achieve access to see closer, look at, change more. The camera gives access. Access to function in life is far greater than desire or even posture, believe it or not. Haven’t we all glanced at a picture that was taken of us before? Perhaps a picture that we take with others involved? These three elements are the agents for higher territory— a greater way. A new ground, and a new look from a different angle in each situation. Our camera lens must focus.
