Over the years I have GM'd many different game systems, and I have improved on each just a little in my Role Playing Game(Covert Operations.) My unique approach to role playing and to GMing has spawned this first book. Covert Operations: Alpha is a Sci-Fi Drama, which follows several characters through death, murder and mayhem after a failed covert operation. Spy is one of the main characters. After he fails to steal information from a genetics company, his friend is killed during the re-attempted theft. The theft and the death set off a chain of events that will involve most of the key players in Chicago, and bring dozens to their death as well as making many more wish that they were dead. Mix in some magic, high technology and some cosmic involvements, and you have one volatile ride. Don't blink or you might just get lost in the fray. So hold on and enjoy.

Book Military Operations and the Mind

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Offering a Canadian perspective on the emotional health of servicemen and women, Military Operations and the Mind brings together researchers and practitioners from across the country to consider the impact that ethical issues have on the well-being of those who serve. Stemming from an initiative to enhance the lives of serving members by providing them with the best education and training in military ethics before and after deployments, this volume will better inform politics and public policies and enhance the welfare of the soldiers, sailors, and airmen and women who serve in singular, often harsh, and sometimes dangerous conditions. By integrating into the analysis the critical issue of well-being, this emerging field demonstrates a more holistic approach and is distinct from other fields in military, historical, philosophical, and behavioural studies. The first study of its kind, Military Operations and the Mind presents a new and helpful way to focus on the life of soldiers not only in operations overseas, but also once they return home. Book Covert Operations Unveiling Organized Crime

Download or read book Covert Operations Unveiling Organized Crime written by Daniel M. Rudofossi and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-12-30 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New York Police Department "cop doc" Dr. Dan Rudofossi delves into what it meant to live as a deep-cover operative through narratives with Joe Pistone, the FBI agent who spent six years living as Donnie Brasco as a member of the Bonanno crime family. When Operation Donnie Brasco abruptly closed, it was the longest and most successful infiltration of a Mafia family. Dr. Rudofossi underscores Pistone’s genius to survive daily challenges of infiltration by using innovations in the ecological niches of Mafia violence. Donnie Brasco’s "mental toughness," resilience, and ingenuity are understood through Rudofossi’s signature Eco-Ethological Existential Analysis. Mapping out why and how trauma shaped functional dissociation as unconscious adaptation, the author’s experience as a police psychologist—that is, a "cop doc"—helps decode the bigger picture of conflict, resolution, and compromise in the disparate worlds of policing and organized crime. This unique look at the costs and successes of tracking, infiltrating, arresting, and convicting those involved in organized crime is a groundbreaking read for law enforcement personnel, criminal justice, homeland security, law students, police psychologists, as well as anyone fascinated by the world of organized crime.

Book Eisenhower And Manstein Operational Leadership Lessons Of The Past For Today s Commanders

Download or read book Eisenhower And Manstein Operational Leadership Lessons Of The Past For Today s Commanders written by Major William E. Herbert IV and published by Pickle Partners Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-15 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The United States Military, the ultimate Instrument of national resolve, is centered on servicemen and women. Without effective leadership these men and women are ill equipped to succeed in combat and are unjustly put in harm’s way. The commander at the operational level is the link between national policy and action. His actions, character and decisions are of historical importance. While this paper will not cover the full spectrum of operational leadership; the most important traits of operational leadership will be explored. Additionally, this paper will highlight recent failures in operational leadership and compare and contrast them with lessons learned from two diametrically opposed operational leaders of World War II, General Dwight Eisenhower and Field Marshall Erich von Manstein. Analysis will concentrate on the specific operations of the Normandy invasion and Kharkov. The analysis will not deconstruct the operations but rather center on the operational leadership traits each commander displayed and their importance to the operation. Finally the paper will show how the lessons of sixty-five years ago are applicable today and for the future.

Book Persuasive Games

Download or read book Persuasive Games written by Ian Bogost and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2010-08-13 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An exploration of the way videogames mount arguments and make expressive statements about the world that analyzes their unique persuasive power in terms of their computational properties. Videogames are an expressive medium, and a persuasive medium; they represent how real and imagined systems work, and they invite players to interact with those systems and form judgments about them. In this innovative analysis, Ian Bogost examines the way videogames mount arguments and influence players. Drawing on the 2,500-year history of rhetoric, the study of persuasive expression, Bogost analyzes rhetoric's unique function in software in general and videogames in particular. The field of media studies already analyzes visual rhetoric, the art of using imagery and visual representation persuasively. Bogost argues that videogames, thanks to their basic representational mode of procedurality (rule-based representations and interactions), open a new domain for persuasion; they realize a new form of rhetoric. Bogost calls this new form "procedural rhetoric," a type of rhetoric tied to the core affordances of computers: running processes and executing rule-based symbolic manipulation. He argues further that videogames have a unique persuasive power that goes beyond other forms of computational persuasion. Not only can videogames support existing social and cultural positions, but they can also disrupt and change these positions themselves, leading to potentially significant long-term social change. Bogost looks at three areas in which videogame persuasion has already taken form and shows considerable potential: politics, advertising, and learning.

Book Operational Behaviors and Continuous Improvement

Download or read book Operational Behaviors and Continuous Improvement written by Volney Douglas and published by Volney Douglas. This book was released on 2010-10 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: National communications systems (NCS) are critical elements of a government's infrastructure. Limited improvements to the operational behaviors or non- functional requirements (NFR) of NCS have caused issues during national emergencies such as 9/11. NCS contractors play a vital role in the design and support of NCS, and this perspective provides valuable insights. There are three major purposes for this case study: (a) to add to the existing theoretical framework on the issues, (b) to define the scope of these concepts, and (c) to provide strategies for management. Four research questions focus on definition, scope, models, and strategies. The results defined 11 major relationships focused on cost, risk, schedule, communication, and quality perceptions. These results provide a framework for strategic system optimization based on collection and analysis of operational information. Strategies for optimizing NCS, based on these findings, can have a positive social impact by improving operational quality and reducing cost, schedule, and risk impacts, which allows a greater capability for NCS to save lives.
