Book Icewine

    Book Details:
  • Author : John Schreiner
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2001
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 354 pages

Download or read book Icewine written by John Schreiner and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last decade, icewine has become a phenomenon among wine lovers. Like many good things, it had accidental beginnings -- an early frost caught grapes still on the vine. The desperate wine maker pressed the grapes anyway and voila -- a rich, sweet dessert wine was discovered. For a long time, icewine, or Eiswein, was only made in Germany and Austria on those rare occasions -- maybe once in a decade -- when climate conditions permitted. With the growth of the wine industry in North America in the 1970s and 80s, icewine became a natural for the vineyards of the northern U.S. and Canada, where it can be produced every year. Today, with high quality standards and strong marketing campaigns, icewine has become a prized addition to the gourmet dinner table Icewine now rivals the great dessert wines of Sauternes, and it is starting to be produced in unexpected regions such as California and New Zealand, using freezers rather than winter. With all these new producers and growing interest in it, the market is ripe for an informative book about icewine. With his extensive knowledge of the current wine scene, John Schreiner is in an ideal position to write this, the first authoritative guide to icewine. Schreiner writes on wine for several publications and is the author of The World of Canadian Wine.

This book examines the major issues and current controversies in the field, provides background information on each type of family violence, and offers strategies for combating domestic abuse. In an informative discussion designed to enhance counselors’ ability to assess and treat each type of family violence, Dr. Lawson covers both well recognized forms of maltreatment, such as the abuse of women and children, and less understood issues, such as female-on-male intimacy violence, parent and elder abuse, same-sex violence, and dating violence and stalking. Case studies throughout the text illustrate clinical applications in action, and recommended readings are provided for further study. *Requests for digital versions from ACA can be found on www.wiley.com. *To purchase print copies, please visit the ACA website here. *Reproduction requests for material from books published by ACA should be directed to [email protected]

Book Motivational Interviewing with Couples

Download or read book Motivational Interviewing with Couples written by Tyrel J. Starks and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2022 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Interpersonal relationships are a central element of human existence. While cultures vary with respect to their individual versus collectivistic orientation (Triandis, 2018), even in the most individualistic of cultures people are to some extent embedded in networks of relationships. Individual experience is situated within a context that involves some combination of family, friends, community, and society. We feel the presence - or for some the absence - of these social forces. That does not mean relationships are uniformly sources of tremendous joy - they can also inspire indifference or become sources of pain. I mean to suggest only that the bonds we form to other people, or the absence of such bonds, are powerful influences on our behavior. To the extent that I am inspired by something in psychology, it is the idea that we move each other around as we move through the world. I am fascinated by the impact interpersonal relationships have on personal behavior. I have been exceedingly lucky in this sense. I arrived at my early career as a clinical psychologist just in time to see something of a "relationship renaissance" in research on HIV prevention and treatment. What vision I had for my career was reshaped by the 2009 publication of Sullivan and colleagues' influential paper indicating that as many as 68% of new HIV infections among sexual minority men (a group that includes gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men) in the United States were transmitted between main or primary relationship partners. Reading it was the first time I recall being really excited about what I could potentially do as a behavioral scientist. This book represents the culmination of just over a decade of work that followed that realization"--
