Book The Kingdom Life Approach

Download or read book The Kingdom Life Approach written by Willie Thomas Butler and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2011-10 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the stark contrast between the Kingdom of God and the economic, political and social systems we live by every day. The world's systems have led us down a primrose path to nowhere, encouraging the pursuit of wealth and the so-called good life while ignoring the need for a morally-based and purpose-driven approach to living. The Kingdom Life Approach provides viable and alternative strategies to how we conduct our lives to achieve true, meaningful prosperity. It establishes a purpose for living that is predicated on individual assignments and an emerging church that true believers in Christ are building. Christians must change and become emissaries and a perfected church in order for Christ's Kingdom to be seen in the earth. How we live and what we pursue in life are transformational values we must demonstrate to the world. Choosing to manage our financial affairs the Kingdom way is central to this process. Willie Thomas Butler is founder and President of Kingdom Seed Foundation and its educational division, The Life Planning Institute. With over twenty years in the financial services profession, Butler has served as a Certified Financial Planner(TM)(1986-2001), Registered Investment Adviser and Financial Consultant with Salomon Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch. He also served in several Christian organizations as a board member, adviser, development officer and fundraiser. Butler authored his first book True Prosperity in 1997 and established LPI to provide an educational curriculum combined with practical training in Biblical Stewardship and money management. LPI offers courses and workshops promoting a Kingdom approach to life planning for those wanting to serve God using every resource entrusted to them. Butler is a graduate of Regent University with a master of arts in public policy and holds a bachelors of science in business management from Adelphi University. He is also a graduate of the Institute for Financial Planning in New York.

Book excerpt: What is the “Christian life” all about? Studying the Bible, attending church, cultivating a prayer life, witnessing to others—those are all good. But is that really what Jesus has in mind? The answer, says Scot McKnight in One.Life, lies in Jesus’ words, “Follow me.” What does it look like to follow Jesus, and how will doing so change the way we live our life—our love.life, our justice.life, our peace.life, our community.life, our sex.life—everything about our life. One.Life will open your eyes to the full, compelling immensity of what it means to be a Christian. “Jesus offers to us a kingdom dream that transforms us to the very core of our being,” says Scot McKnight. “His vision is so big we are called to give our entire life to it. His vision is so big it swallows up our dreams.” Discover exactly what Jesus meant when he announced the arrival of God’s kingdom. Equipping you with a new understanding of that kingdom’s radical nature, One.Life shares profound, challenging, and practical insights on how to demonstrate its reality in your life. In many ways, what The Cost of Discipleship by Bonhoeffer challenged Christians to do in earlier generations, One.Life will do for a new generation. Smith focuses on the themes of liturgy and desire in Desiring the Kingdom, the first book in what will be a three-volume set on the theology of culture. He redirects our yearnings to focus on the greatest good: God. Ultimately, Smith seeks to re-vision education through the process and practice of worship. Students of philosophy, theology, worldview, and culture will welcome Desiring the Kingdom, as will those involved in ministry and other interested readers.

Book The Kingdom of God and the Glory of the Cross

Download or read book The Kingdom of God and the Glory of the Cross written by Patrick Schreiner and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2018-03-15 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.” —Matthew 13:31–32 When Jesus began his ministry, he announced that the kingdom of God was at hand. But many modern-day Christians don’t really understand what the kingdom of God is or how it relates to the message of the gospel. Defining kingdom as the King’s power over the King’s people in the King’s place, Patrick Schreiner investigates the key events, prophecies, and passages of Scripture that highlight the important theme of kingdom across the storyline of the Bible—helping readers see how the mission of Jesus and the coming of the kingdom fit together. Part of the Short Studies in Biblical Theology series.

Download or read book Development 101 written by John Frank and published by . This book was released on 2015-04-01 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In our 60 years of combined experience with faith-based non-profits we have seen high turnover rates in development staff, a general lack of a driving philosophy/theology of development in most ministries, confusion from boards over their proper role in development, and development staff who are frustrated and burned out by the demands of their work. The common denominator is a lack of a comprehensive, biblically based, fundamentally sound, development strategy. We see at least four main reasons for this situation. First, far too few ministries have a theology of development that serves as a rule and guide for all of their work in raising kingdom resources. The result is that the demands for money, rather than Scripture, dictate the techniques used for fundraising. Second, many organizations set unrealistic goals and expectations for their development team. When they are not reached, the ministry makes a change and tries again. When you add to this a lack of adequate training for new development officers, the turnover rate is understandable. Third, we see a serious lack of integration in development work. Ministries take a shotgun approach, trying all sorts of different ways to reach income goals, but far too seldom take a comprehensive, strategic approach that serves the giving partners not just the organization. Finally, we experience consistent misunderstanding and confusion over the board's role in development work, compounded by an inability by the board to develop metrics for measuring effectiveness and success in raising funds based on kingdom principles. This book addresses these concerns and provide development professionals with a tool that can help them build robust, God-honoring development programs. It is our prayer that this book will help development staff and CEO's set realistic goals based on the time it takes to build a solid program and develop genuine, God-honoring relationships with giving partners. We hope this book will be a first step in training people who are new to the development field. We have included charts, templates and diagrams that we hope will aid in understanding how to build your plan and implement it successfully.

Book excerpt: What would it be like to live without fear? Join renowned philosopher Dallas Willard as he shares the biblically-backed secret to living with true contentment, peace, and security. In Life Without Lack, Dallas Willard revolutionizes our understanding of Psalm 23 by taking this comfortably familiar passage and revealing its extraordinary promises: "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want...Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil." Written with Willard's characteristic gentle wisdom, Life Without Lack helps you experience: God's comforting presence God's abundant generosity Peace and freedom from worry Based on a series of talks by the late author and edited by his friend Larry Burtoft and by his daughter, Rebecca Willard Heatley, Life Without Lack will forever change the way you experience the most well-known passage in all of Scripture. Praise for Life Without Lack: "Dallas Willard helps us to understand that the Twenty-Third Psalm is not meant as a nice sentiment or for kitschy decor, it is for the very thick of our lives, the very moment of crisis. Imagine what our personal lives, families, communities, and politics would look like if we rejected the frantic striving of our day, and instead embraced the life without lack offered to us in Jesus Christ. No one has helped me to imagine and enter into that life more than Dallas Willard. I recommend this book with great joy and hopeful expectation." --Michael Wear, bestselling author of Reclaiming Hope
