Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemical Kinetics of Gas Reactions explores the advances in gas kinetics and thermal, photochemical, electrical discharge, and radiation chemical reactions. This book is composed of 10 chapters, and begins with the presentation of general kinetic rules for simple and complex chemical reactions. The next chapters deal with the experimental methods for evaluating chemical reaction mechanisms and some theories of elementary chemical processes. These topics are followed by discussions on certain class of chemical reactions, including unimolecular, bimolecular, and termolecular reactions. The remaining chapters examine gas reactions, such as molecular collisions, photochemical reactions, chemical reactions in electrical discharge, chain reactions, and combustion. This book will be of value to reaction kinetics engineers and researchers.

Book Gas Solid Reactions

    Book Details:
  • Author : Julian Szekely
  • Publisher : Elsevier
  • Release : 2012-12-02
  • ISBN : 0323151396
  • Pages : 415 pages

Download or read book Gas Solid Reactions written by Julian Szekely and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gas-Solid Reactions describes gas-solid reaction systems, focusing on the four phenomena—external mass transfer, pore diffusion, adsorption/desorption, and chemical reaction. This book consists of eight chapters. After the introduction provided in Chapter 1, the basic components of gas-solid reactions are reviewed in Chapter 2. Chapter 3 describes the reactions of individual nonporous solid particles, while Chapter 4 elaborates the reaction of single porous particles. Solid-solid reactions proceeding through gaseous intermediates are considered in Chapter 5. Chapter 6 deals with the experimental approaches to the study of gas-solid reaction systems. How information on single-particle behavior may be used for the design of multiparticle, large-scale assemblies, and packed- and fluidized-bed reaction systems is deliberated in Chapter 7. The last chapter covers the specific gas-solid reaction systems, including some statistical indices indicating the economic importance of the systems and processes it’s based on. This publication is recommended for practicing engineers engaged in process research, development, and design in the many fields where gas-solid reactions are important.

Book Selected Readings in Chemical Kinetics

Download or read book Selected Readings in Chemical Kinetics written by Margaret H. Back and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-11 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Selected Readings in Chemical Kinetics covers excerpts from 12 papers in the field of general and gas-phase kinetics. The book discusses papers on the laws of connexion between the conditions of a chemical change and its amount; on the reaction velocity of the inversion of the cane sugar by acids; and the calculation in absolute measure of velocity constants and equilibrium constants in gaseous systems. The text then tackles papers on simple gas reactions; on the absolute rate of reactions in condensed phases; on the radiation theory of chemical action; and on the theory of unimolecular reactions. Papers on the theories of unimolecular reactions at low pressures; on the reaction between hydrogen and bromine; and on the oxidation of phosphorus vapor at low pressures are also considered. The book further describes papers on the thermal decomposition of organic compounds from the standpoint of free radicals; as well as on a single chain mechanism for the thermal decomposition of hydrocarbons. The book will be invaluable to students of chemical kinetics.

Book Kinetic Processes in Gases and Plasmas

Download or read book Kinetic Processes in Gases and Plasmas written by A Hochstim and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kinetic Processes in Gases and Plasmas provides a survey of studies on transport and chemical kinetic processes in high temperature gases and plasmas. The book is concerned with conditions produced by the interaction of an object with the atmosphere at hypersonic velocities. The text also provides a foundation for the flow field equations which include chemical reactions and other transport processes, and to present in some detail the microscopic considerations underlying these calculations. Chapters are devoted to the discussion of topics such as the molecular theory of transport equations; transport processes in ionized gases; and inelastic energy transfer processes and chemical kinetics. Aerospace engineers, physicists, chemists, and astrophysicists will find the book a good reference material.

Download or read book Gas Phase Reactions written by V.N. Kondratiev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present monograph appears after the death of Professor V. N. Kondratiev, one of those scientists who have greatly contributed to the foundation of contem porary gas kinetics. The most fundamental idea of chemical kinetics, put for ward at the beginning of the twentieth century and connected with names such as W. Nernst, M. Bodenstein, N. N. Semenov, and C. N. Hinshelwood, was that the complex chemical reactions are in fact a manifestation of a set of simpler elementary reactions involving but a small number of species. V. N. Kondratiev was one of the first to adopt this idea and to start investigations on the elementary chemical reactions proper. These investigations revealed explicitly that every elementary reaction in turn consisted of many elementary events usually referred to as elementary processes. It took some time to realize that an elementary reaction, represented in a very simple way by a macroscopic kinetic equation, can be described on a microscopic level by a generalized Boltzmann equation. Neverheless, up to the middle of the twentieth century, gas kinetics was mainly concerned with the interpretation of complex chemical reactions via a set of elementary reactions. But later on, the situation changed drastically. First, the conditions for reducing microscopic cquations to macroscopic ones were clearly set up. These are essentially based on the fact that the small perturbations of the Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution are caused by the reaction proper.
