Book Gas Phase Pyrolytic Reactions

Download or read book Gas Phase Pyrolytic Reactions written by Nouria A. Al-Awadi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-12-05 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Offers a physical organic chemistry and mechanistic perspective of the chemistry of thermal processes in the gas phase The book looks at all aspects of the chemical processing technique called gas-phase pyrolysis, including its methodology and reactors, synthesis, reaction mechanisms, structure, kinetics, and applications. It discusses combinations of pyrolytic reactors with physiochemical techniques, routes for and reactions for the synthesis of organic compounds, and the control of reaction rates. Gas-Phase Pyrolytic Reactions: Synthesis, Mechanisms, and Kinetics starts with in-depth chapter coverage of static pyrolysis, dynamic flow pyrolysis, and analytical pyrolysis. It then examines synthesis and applications, including flash vacuum pyrolysis in organic synthesis, elimination of HX, elimination of CO and CO2, pyrolysis of Meldrum’s acid derivatives, and elimination of N2. A chapter on reaction mechanism comes next and includes coverage of retero-ene reaction and reactive intermediates. Following that are sections covering: structure/reactivity correlation, functional group & structural frame interconversions; gas-phase pyrolysis of hydrazones and phosphorus Ylides; and more. Deals with a growing area of chemistry and engineering interest that fits under the practices of green and sustainable chemistry Addresses several important aspects: methodology and reactors, synthesis, reaction mechanisms, structure, kinetics, and applications Reviews general methods of pyrolysis techniques Sets out the fundamentals and advantages of gas-phase pyrolysis in a way that illustrates its wide potential applications Gas-Phase Pyrolytic Reactions: Synthesis, Mechanisms, and Kinetics will appeal to organic chemists, physical organic chemists, chemical engineers and anyone interested in green/sustainable chemistry, chemical synthesis, or process chemistry.

Download or read book Gas Phase Thermal Reactions written by Guy-Marie Côme and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to Gas-Phase Thermal Reactions (GPTRs), and especially combustion reactions, which take place in engines, burners and industrial chemical reactors to produce mechanical or thermal energy to incinerate pollutants or to manufacture chemical substances, and which play an important part due to the consequences they have on the environment : fires and explosions, tropospheric pollution, greenhouse effect, hole in the stratospheric ozone layer. The design and running of engines, burners, incinerators, industrial reactors, both economical in fuels, raw materials and energy, efficient, safe and clean, as weIl as the scientific evaluation of the causes and the effects of atmospheric pollutions with a view to taking rational environmental decisions, which necessitate an understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of these reactions and an access to models allowing numerical simulations of the phenomena being studied to be carried out. The analysis of the results ofthe simulations then allows an optimal solution to be found to the industrial problem or to extrapolate the natural phenomena.

Book Kinetics and Mechanisms for the Formation of Organic Pollutants During Pyrolysis and Combustion

Download or read book Kinetics and Mechanisms for the Formation of Organic Pollutants During Pyrolysis and Combustion written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results indicate the formation of higher molecular weight products has a maximum, as a function of temperature, in the 1200°C to 1400°C range for all aromatic systems studied thus far. This maximum is apparently nearly independent of pressure below about 10 torr. Initial results of the gas phase pyrolysis have supported the suggestion of two distinct routes for the formation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and soot. Below approximately 1450°C direct condensation of aromatic precursor, leads to higher molecular weight compounds, and ultimately some soot formation. At higher temperatures initial pyrolysis reactions result in the formation of reactive lower molecular fragments (CH3, C2H2, C3H3, C4H2, etc.), which are highly efficient in forming soot by heterogeneous processes but are less efficient in forming aromatic species (however, reaction does apparently speed greatly upon cooling). Our gas phase studies have also identified a number of highly reactive intermediate hydrocarbons for the formation of higher molecular weight compounds (e.g., C3H3, C4H3, C5, H3, and C--H-- ). Experiments are being planned to better define the heterogeneous chemistry of these high temperature aromatic systems, relate experimental results to actual combustion experiments and to explore equilibrium calculations for estimating the concentrations of important species at high temperatures.
