There has been some discussion as to whether diphtheria can be accurately and certainly diagnosticated by a study of the bacillus which produces it, and whether this diagnosis can be made promptly enough to be of value to the physician who is treating the case. Looking at the subject in the light of the most recent bacteriological re search, we can answer yes to both ques tions.
