Below in the shadowy depths of the ocean lives and thrives an entire ancient world of merpeople. When Thad and a mermaid named Selale (Shuh-LAH-lee) meet, the impetus of the Hybrid King Prophecy is set into motion and nothing above or in the waters below can stop the events foretold long ago from happening. Although both Thad and Selale realize the danger and the impossibility of their love, their passion and intertwined destinies draw them inexplicably to each other. When a child, the future king predicted centuries before, is conceived as a result of their union, fate unknowingly pulls the lovers and their small circle of friends and family from both the human and mer worlds into a desperate plan to save the child, a plan that will pit brother against brother, world against world, and good against evil.

Book excerpt: Shifter and Vampire True Mates story. Alek's older brother, Justice--the Alpha Zenith--was the first shifter to mate with a vampire in many generations, and it was believed the rare, fated pairing would stop at him. But, it hadn't. Aleksei 'Alek' Volkov was second beta, next in succession to the most powerful shifter in the world. He was proud of his title and he took his duties seriously. It was all he had. Until his true mate literally showed up on his doorstep. While his brother--the overachiever--excelled at having a vampire as a mate, Alek wasn't that optimistic he would. He wasn't averse to love, and he'd often thought of how different his life could've turned out if he'd ever experienced the emotion. His life was a mess and he'd worn a mask of stability for a majority of that time, only showing his siblings and pack what they needed to see--a strong Volkov alpha. Not the damaged man he was, with a tortured soul and a rogue wolf. Alek dropped his heavy head in his hands. Now, for some reason, I've been granted a true vampire mate. And not just any vampire. The intimidating Belleron Liatos. Lord High to the King and the leader of his army. Belleron 'Bell' Liatos had come to the states for one reason--his best friend and Vampire King, Chadwick Bentley. He certainly didn't come to be pounced on by a wolf that could act independently of its master. Not only was his destined cherished a complicated and confused man; but he was also unaware of the powerful presence that lurked in the shadows of his soul. Bell didn't know he'd be the key to unlocking an exceptional triad that would play a critical role in fulfilling the prophesy. This story DOES NOT contain or even mention MPREG. No multiple pairings. No cliffhangers. Ends with a very HFN. Warning: This book is M/M paranormal: If you DO NOT like alpha men shifting into large wolves, or vampires feeding from their destined beloveds, than this may not be the novel for you.

Book excerpt: Building on recent developments in biblical studies, this book introduces the prophetic literature of the Old Testament against the background of today's postmodern context and crisis of meaning. Pulsating with anxiety over the empire--Assyrian, Babylonian, and Persian--the prophet corpus is a disturbing cultural expression of lament and chaos. Danger, disjunction, and disaster bubble beneath the surface of virtually every prophetic text. Sometimes in denial, sometimes in despair, and sometimes in defiance, the readers of this literature find themselves living at the edge of time, immediately before, during, or after the collapse of longstanding symbolic, cultural, and geo-political structures. These written prophecies not only reflect the social location of trauma, but are also a complex response. More specifically, prophetic texts are thick meaning-making maps, tapestries of hope that help at-risk communities survive.

Book excerpt: An ancient prophecy. A young woman's destiny. Lorness Carol, coming of age in the kingdom of her warlord father, Lord Rafel, aspires to wield magic. But she's also unknowingly become the obsession of Kragan, an avenging wielder as old as evil itself. He's waited centuries to find and kill the female prophesied as the only human empowered to destroy him. However, dispatching the king's assassin, Blade, to Rafel's Keep, ends in treason. For Blade arrives not with a weapon but rather a warning for the woman he's known and loved since he was a child. With a price on his head, Blade flees--as Carol and her family are urged away on their own desperate route of escape. Now, traversing the lawless western borderlands, Carol struggles to understand the uncanny magic she possesses and must learn to master. Though separated, Carol and Blade are still united--not only by the darkness pursuing them both but by a quest toward destiny, revenge, and the revelations of an ancient prophecy that signal the ultimate war between good and evil.

Book The Hybrid Reformation

  • Author : Christopher Ocker
  • Publisher : Cambridge University Press
  • Release : 2022-09-22
  • ISBN : 1108806805

Download or read book The Hybrid Reformation written by Christopher Ocker and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2022-09-22 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three basic forces dominated sixteenth-century religious life. Two polarized groups, Protestant and Catholic reformers, were shaped by theological debates, over the nature of the church, salvation, prayer, and other issues. These debates articulated critical, group-defining oppositions. Bystanders to the Catholic-Protestant competition were a third force. Their reactions to reformers were violent, opportunistic, hesitant, ambiguous, or serendipitous, much the way social historians have described common people in the Reformation for the last fifty years. But in an ecology of three forces, hesitations and compromises were natural, not just among ordinary people, but also, if more subtly, among reformers and theologians. In this volume, Christopher Ocker offers a constructive and nuanced alternative to the received understanding of the Reformation. Combining the methods of intellectual, cultural, and social history, his book demonstrates how the Reformation became a hybrid movement produced by a binary of Catholic and Protestant self-definitions, by bystanders to religious debate, and by the hesitations and compromises made by all three groups during the religious controversy.

The army marches to its fate, unaware of the trap awaiting them. Prince Fiad leads them. Will he be the army’s salvation or damnation? Book A New Look at the Prophecies of Daniel

Download or read book A New Look at the Prophecies of Daniel written by Steven Ortlepp and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2010-01-08 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Daniel's Prophecies: The Next Level. Popular singer-songwriter, James Blunt, encourages: "You've got to ask yourself the question: 'Where are you now?'" This one can ask of the human race as a whole. Following a completely different exegetical approach to the prophecies of Daniel, this author attempts to answer this very question. A definition of prophecy is "history written in advance". However, an angel ordered Daniel to seal the book until the end time. Many will rove about and the true knowledge will become abundant. He added that no wicked one will understand, but that the ones having insight, will understand (cf. Dan. 12:4, 9, 10). Wicked ones have no future in God's "new earth", so one ignores these prophecies at your peril (cf. Ps. 37:38; Prov. 2:21, 22; 2 Pet. 3:13). This monograph concentrates on Dan. 11:40-45. The new edition includes a Concise Messianic Timeline and a Quick Reference Guide for quick and easy reference.

Book Prophecy and Power Jeremiah in Feminist and Postcolonial Perspective

Download or read book Prophecy and Power Jeremiah in Feminist and Postcolonial Perspective written by Christl M. Maier and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2014-03-27 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume advances the scholarly discussion of Jeremiah via rigorous feminist and postcolonialist theorizing of texts and interpretive issues in that prophetic book. The essays here, by seasoned scholars of Jeremiah, offer significant traction on the biblical book's construction of the persona of Jeremiah and the subjectivity of Judah as subaltern; analysis of gendered imagery for the speaking subject in Jeremiah and for the Judean social body; exploration of rhetorics of imperialism and resistance; and theological implications of feminist-critical perspectives on YHWH and other deities represented in Jeremiah. Essays here deftly synthesize historical, literary, and ideological-critical insights in service of nuanced inquiry into Jeremiah as complex cultural production. The collection represents the growing edge of recent critical thinking on Jeremiah in the United States, Europe, and elsewhere. It should prove invaluable in shaping the parameters of the continuing scholarly conversation on the Book of Jeremiah.

Who also happens to be the alleged reincarnation of King Arthur. Ellie couldn't be happier to have Will in her life, but she's also worried that his estrangement from his parents is tearing him apart. To make matters worse, Will's doubt that he really is King Arthur could prevent the Merlin Prophecy—an age of enlightenment—from occurring. Can Ellie convince Will to believe in something that even she isn't sure about? And more importantly, can she get him to give his parents another chance? With all the mythology and mysticism of avalon high, Meg Cabot's very first manga is indeed a tale for the ages.
