Book The Greenie s Guide to the End of the World

Download or read book The Greenie s Guide to the End of the World written by Theodore McCall and published by ATF Press. This book was released on 2011 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is an old fundamentalist argument that the world will eventually be destroyed in the Apocalypse, so there is no point in caring for it. When one reads about the delicate balance of the first moments of the cosmos, one can only marvel at the process which brought about the existence of the earth and the creatures that inhabit it. One of Theo McCall's joys in life is cycling. He lives in the city of Adelaide, South Australia, a perfect city for cycling. When he first began this project, once or twice a week he would cycle in the early morning. The last part of the return trip would involve riding eastwards into the rising sun. Whenever he felt the warmth of the sun on his face and was aware of its sheer power and energy, he was convinced that the universe is an overwhelmingly beautiful place, which God would never abandon or destroy. It is with this complete faith in God's love for creation that he set out to write an account of how this creation, with all its beauty and fragility, as well as its flaws and scars, might be transformed into God's new creation. Given the ecological crisis that we face, how can we meaningfully talk about the consummation of all things, without removing the impetus for ecological action? In other words, is it possible to develop an ecological eschatology?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flourishing in Faith: Theology Encountering Positive Psychology explores the fascinating dialogue between two scholarly traditions concerned with personal wellbeing, Christian theology and Positive Psychology, primarily from the perspective of theology. Although each works within different paradigms and brings different fundamental assumptions about the nature of the world, both are oriented toward that which leads to human flourishing and contentment. In such an encounter, can both disciplines learn from one another? Do they challenge each other? How can they enrich and or critique each other? With the widespread emergence of Positive Psychology in educational, church, and community settings across the world, many of which self-identify with the Christian tradition, many are wondering how this new branch of psychology integrates with traditional Christian belief and practice. This groundbreaking book explores this question from a diversity of perspectives: theology, biblical studies, education, psychology, social work, disability studies, and chaplaincy, from scholars and practitioners working in Australia and the United States.

Book Cool It

  • Author : Bjorn Lomborg
  • Publisher : Vintage
  • Release : 2007-09-11

Download or read book Cool It written by Bjorn Lomborg and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2007-09-11 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bjorn Lomborg argues that many of the elaborate and staggeringly expensive actions now being considered to meet the challenges of global warming ultimately will have little impact on the world’s temperature. He suggests that rather than focusing on ineffective solutions that will cost us trillions of dollars over the coming decades, we should be looking for smarter, more cost-effective approaches (such as massively increasing our commitment to green energy R&D) that will allow us to deal not only with climate change but also with other pressing global concerns, such as malaria and HIV/AIDS. And he considers why and how this debate has fostered an atmosphere in which dissenters are immediately demonized.

Book American Crusade

Book excerpt: Join the political and cultural fight for America's freedom—and learn how to protect our nation from the leftist agenda—with this essential guide from Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Pete Hegseth. In American Crusade, Pete Hegseth explores whether the election of President Donald J. Trump was sign of a national rebirth, or instead the final act of a nation that has surrendered to Leftists who demand socialism, globalism, secularism, and politically-correct elitism. Can real America still win? And how? Hegseth is an old-school patriot who is on a mission to do his part to save our Republic. This book celebrates all that America stands for, while motivating and mustering fellow patriots to stand ready to defend—and save—our great country. As he travels around the country talking to American citizens from all walks of life, Hegseth reveals the common wisdom of average Americans—and how ready they are to join the cultural battlefield. Now is that time, and Hegseth has written the playbook. American Crusade is written with the same insight, politically incorrect candor, and humor that has made his television show one of the most highly-rated in America.
