Book The Great Enterprise from a Reformed Perspective

Download or read book The Great Enterprise from a Reformed Perspective written by Jason N. Bolt and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2012-06-08 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thoroughly God-centric and Bible-saturated, this book is a plea for the church and her missionaries to return to the biblical mandate and prescription for missionary activity. In God's infinite wisdom, he has determined to ransom men from among every tribe, tongue, people, and nation through the proclamation of the gospel. This is the greatest enterprise ever undertaken in human history, and it will culminate in success. God will see to it. The church has a principal role to play in the enterprise, but that role is not one of global philanthropy. The modern view of missionary activity has robbed missionaries of the authority to preach the gospel and has left the nations wanting of the joy of salvation . . . but there is yet time. The modern church may still find great success in the spread of the gospel to the remotest part of the earth. All that is necessary is that we would seek the revealed will of God in the Scriptures and put into practice that which it requires.

Book Comparative Corporate Governance A Chinese Perspective

Download or read book Comparative Corporate Governance A Chinese Perspective written by Yuwa Wei and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2003-04-01 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The analysis is notable for its insistence that, for a corporate governance system to work, the principles and practicalities of that system must be derived from customary cultural norms. Experience shows that imported models, although they may be enshrined in law, lead to economic stagnation unless actual practice is monitored and reformed and the laws change to reflect these necessary adjustments. Thus the model proposed here begins with the Company Law of 1994, and proceeds to show how practical experience is already providing valuable data for the task of improving the law.

Book Manual of Reformed Stoicism

Download or read book Manual of Reformed Stoicism written by Piotr Stankiewicz and published by Vernon Press. This book was released on 2020-06-02 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a manifesto of reformed Stoicism. It proposes a system of life which is bullet-proof, universal, viable and effective in every cosmic setting. It holds in every possible universe, under any government and within any economic system. We can be reformed Stoics no matter what we believe in. Reformed Stoicism is about enjoying and exercising our agency. In other words, it’s about the flow of making autonomous and right decisions, and about celebrating our ability to make them. With no reliance on nature, with the recalibration of metaphysical positions, with skepticism towards grand discourses and universal answers, with an emphasis on the usefulness instead of truthfulness of narratives, with no reference to the vanity argument, with criticism of both conservative and ascetic misinterpretations of Stoicism, with an overall softer and more empathic approach, we can no longer be defined by the generic term “Stoicism”. Our time, in short, calls for a fresh interpretation of Stoicism. It is time for a new generation of Stoics. Thus: reformed Stoicism.

Book Taking Employment Discrimination Seriously Chinese and European Perspectives

Download or read book Taking Employment Discrimination Seriously Chinese and European Perspectives written by Yuwen Li and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2009-06-02 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Employment discrimination is present in any society. However, this severe social problem has escalated in the post-Mao era in China. The imbalance between supply and demand in the labour market, combined with a lack of general consciousness regarding labour rights, have contributed to the swift spread of discrimination. This book contains the most recent research on the reality of discrimination in China, and advocates for effective employment equality protection through law and specialised equality institutions. The study of equal treatment in the legal systems of the EU illustrates the important contribution law, together with general policies, can make to the improvement of equality in employment. While both systems face a distinctive range and degree of problems, employment discrimination ought to be taken seriously in China and the countries of the EU.

Download or read book A Reformed View of Freedom written by Michael Patrick Preciado and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-06-26 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reformed Christians do not believe in free will. This is a common assertion today and it is completely false. The Reformed tradition does advocate free will, just not libertarian free will. A Reformed View of Freedom: The Compatibility of Guidance Control and Reformed Theology explains how the Reformed tradition articulated its view of human freedom and moral responsibility in terms of rational spontaneity. It shows how the Reformed view of rational spontaneity is compatible with contemporary compatibilist and semi-compatibilist views, especially that of guidance control. This work addresses a number of pressing issues in the current academic climate. Is Reformed theology theological determinism? Is it compatibilism? Did Jonathan Edwards part ways with the Reformed tradition? What is the relationship between Reformed theology and contemporary compatibilist and semi-compatibilist positions in analytic philosophy? This book addresses these questions by exegeting the classic Reformed confessions, catechisms, and Reformed scholastics. It sets them in relation to contemporary analytic philosophy. It is an exercise in analytic theology. The reader will come away with a better understanding of how the Reformed viewed free will and moral responsibility in light of contemporary analytic philosophy.

Book Political and Economic Analysis of State Owned Enterprise Reform

Download or read book Political and Economic Analysis of State Owned Enterprise Reform written by Huiming Zhang and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-07-29 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In revisiting the forty year history of reforms to China’s state-owned enterprises (SOE), the book assesses the experiences of this process of reform and scrutinizes how this has helped advance the country’s economy overall. The author finds that China’s SOE reform not only commits to institutional innovation within the corporation in terms of operating mechanisms, management structure, legal organization and the economic system of the enterprise; but that it is also underpinned by a series of policies that highlight an increasing market orientation. The measures have given rise to a benign interaction between enterprise reform and market development, while switching the SOE’s role from appendages of government organs under a planned economic system to more autonomous entities that integrate public ownership and the market economy. In this regard, SOE reform’s success in constructing a modern enterprise system serves as the micro-foundation and core of an improved socialist market economic system. The book will appeal to academics and students interested in political economy and the Chinese economy, with particular reference to SOE reform and the recent economic transition in China.

Download or read book What Went Wrong written by George R. Tyler and published by BenBella Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2013-07-16 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Something has gone seriously wrong with the American economy. The American economy has experienced considerable growth in the last 30 years. But virtually none of this growth has trickled down to the average American. Incomes have been flat since 1985. Inequality has grown, and social mobility has dropped dramatically. Equally troubling, these policies have been devastating to both American productivity and our long-term competitiveness. Many reasons for these failures have been proposed. Globalization. Union greed. Outsourcing. But none of these explanations can address the harsh truth that many countries around the world are dramatically outperforming the U.S. in delivering broad middle-class prosperity. And this is despite the fact that these countries are more exposed than America to outsourcing and globalization and have much higher levels of union membership. In What Went Wrong, George R. Tyler, a veteran of the World Bank and the Treasury Department, takes the reader through an objective and data-rich examination of the American experience over the last 30 years. He provides a fascinating comparison between the America and the experience of the “family capitalism" countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden. Over the last 30 years, they have outperformed the U.S. economy by the only metric that really matters—delivering better lives for their citizens. The policies adopted by the family capitalist countries aren't socialist or foreign. They are the same policies that made the U.S. economy of the 1950s and 1960s the strongest in the world. What Went Wrong describes exactly what went wrong with the American economy, how countries around the world have avoided these problems, and what we need to do to get back on the right track.
