Book excerpt: Quite possibly the most controversial, not to mention humorous book of faith ever written. The Gospel of Leroy scripted by an individual only identified as 'Saint Franky' chronicles the life and times of 'Leroy', the 'brother' of Jesus. Born in Bethlehem, albeit Pennsylvania, a distinction largely unnoticed by Leroy, this modern day gospel attempts to capture the gospel's essence from a uniquely opposite perspective. Although Leroy would be birthed in a manger or garage, it wasn't because there was no room, but rather because Bubba aka Joseph had no money. Of course, this would not prevent Bubba from quipping unto Mary in passing, Yo babe, if anyone asks why the boy was born in a manger, I mean garage, instead of inside the inn, I'm just gonna say because there was no room. 'Cause quite frankly, it ain't none of anybody's business if you know what I mean.

Book The Lost Art of Disciple Making

Download or read book The Lost Art of Disciple Making written by LeRoy Eims and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2009-07-13 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Every believer in Jesus Christ deserves the opportunity of personal nurture and development." says LeRoy Eims. But all too often the opportunity isn't there. We neglect the young Christian in our whirl of programs, church services, and fellowship groups. And we neglect to raise up workers and leaders who can disciple young believers into mature and fruitful Christians. In simple, practical, and biblical terms, LeRoy Eims revives the lost art of disciple making. He explains: - How the early church discipled new Christians - How to meet the basic needs of a growing Christian - How to spot and train potential workers - How to develop mature, godly leaders "True growth takes time and tears and love and patience," Eims states. There is no instant maturity. This book examines the growth process in the life of a Christian and considers what nurture and guidance it takes to develop spiritually qualified workers in the church.

Book excerpt: Even in todays complicated and often uncertain world, God still works in the lives of the faithful. Yet despite the incredible power of Gods love, Satan still makes his presence known through selfishness, greed, and temptation. In Why Satan Hates Love, author LeRoy Martin relies on personal anecdotes, the stories of others, and his own ideas to share his comprehensive study of the Christian faith and Satanism. As he looks at why some marriages work and others do not, Martin explains the differences between couples who allow the devil to control their relationship and those who allow Jesus into their hearts and realize that it is their commitment to the marriage that makes it successful. Martin also delves into the reasons why we can trust and have confidence in Gods judgment, why we need to understand that Satan is a fallen angel, and why it is important to know and understand Gods plan for our lives. God is here for us. The spiritual wisdom provided in Why Satan Hates Love proves that all we have to do is open our hearts and accept His love.

Book The Gospel of Grace

    Book Details:
  • Author : Margy Hill
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2016-08-16
  • ISBN : 9781535084840
  • Pages : 62 pages

Download or read book The Gospel of Grace written by Margy Hill and published by . This book was released on 2016-08-16 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We live in a culture that thrives on performance and reward. If we study hard enough, we should get good grades. If we practice hard enough, we should win awards and trophies. If we work hard enough, we should get a promotion. It is easy to adopt this way of thinking in our spiritual lives. If our lives are good enough, we should get into heaven. If we just do more, God should be pleased. If we follow the rules, we should be better Christians. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is vital that we continually remind ourselves that the gospel is a gospel of grace. Why? Because it is easy to set aside the grace of God and live in a way that depends on us. We begin to rely on what we can do for ourselves, rather than what God can do, and has done for us through Jesus Christ. We continue to struggle with the truth that God's love is unconditional. Often we forget there is nothing we can do or have to do to earn it. We live less than abundant lives, thinking God is disappointed with us; that we don't measure up. As a result, believers end up living mediocre and passionless lives, trapped in the lie that they aren't good enough. Instead of choosing the freedom that is ours in Christ, like the Galatian believers, we choose slavery. Christians can make the serious mistake of believing that the gospel is reserved for salvation. The gospel is so much more than just about saving us. It is the hope that keeps us, while we wait for Jesus to return. It is what transforms us into Christ's image. The gospel is so powerful that we need to remind ourselves of it every day so we never take it for granted. Galatians is probably the harshest of Paul's letters. The dangerous position of the Galatian church and the critical nature of Paul's message drove him to write frankly and sharply to this group of Christians. For Paul, and for you and me, there is nothing more important than guarding the gospel of grace, because it is a serious offense to set aside the grace of God. Because "if righteousness came through the law, than Christ died in vain (Galatians 2:21)."So we do not set aside the grace of God. We cling to it. We stand on it. We hope in it. We grow in it. That's what Paul wanted for the Galatian believers, and that is what God wants for you and me. May this study cause you to live in the abundance of the one true gospel, the Gospel of grace!

Book excerpt: Some seasons of disruption are divinely allowed, while others are self-inflicted. When faced with seasons of disruption, such as we experienced with the global pandemic and chaos of 2020, you have a choice - to try to get through it or grow through it. Author Leroy R. Armstrong, Jr. had his own self-inflicted experience of disruption when he resigned from ministry in 2010 after making some bad decisions. During his disruption, God gave Leroy a significant reset on his life's purpose - the origin of his new book, Disruption: Resetting Your Life's Purpose. Using Bible-based motivation, biblical mandates, and practical applications, you will answer the questions of why and how you should reset your life's purpose to comprehend God's will for your life. Whether it is evaluating your career and business goals or exploring a call to ministry, or whether you should marry, how to improve your marriage, or other matters of life, Leroy shares from his own personal experience how investing the time to seek God for your purpose will change your life for the better. It's time to reset and get in touch with God's purpose for YOU! A Kansas City, Missouri, native, Leroy has devoted over thirty-five years to ministry. Book Abba Father

Download or read book Abba Father written by Leroy Spinks and published by Nurturing Faith. This book was released on 2020-11-11 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Abba, Father: Viewing Atonement through the Jesus Lens, I set out to rethink atonement in a departure from what is possibly the most popular theory among conservative Christians. This book reexamines atonement by giving careful attention to the words of Jesus. It abandons entirely the concept of "the atonement" held as the most popular view among conservative evangelicals today. Most of the classic theories of the atonement proposed what the authors intended to be literal, often legal, explanations of what Jesus did for us on the cross. One of the older popular theories dating back to the third and fourth centuries proposed the literal, legal explanation that Jesus paid a ransom to the devil for our souls. Several centuries later Anselm proposed the literal, legal theory that Jesus made satisfaction (paid God compensation or reparations) for our offense to God's honor. Several centuries after that, the Reformer John Calvin proposed that Jesus paid our sin debt for our offense to God's justice. (Chapters 7, 8, and 9 will trace the history of these theories.) Mention of the classical theories of the atonement refers to these three theories (plus another discussed briefly in chapter 7). These theories proposed the idea that the cross of Christ provided "the atonement"-an event that made it possible for God to forgive us and make us his children. The New Testament shows that Jesus did not preach any "theory of the atonement." In fact, Jesus never used any word that could be translated "atonement," nor did he preach any concept that could be so construed. Jesus proclaimed the metaphor of the loving Father. Jesus taught how we are to reconcile (although he never used that word, either) with the Father, not how the Father reconciles himself to us. In addition, the message of all the New Testament authors following Jesus continued this theme while also offering many other metaphors illustrating how Jesus brings us back to God. The view presented here does not claim to be Jesus' theory of the atonement, for the New Testament evidence does not indicate that he had one. Instead, the following chapters will develop what Jesus proclaimed as his Good News of the kingdom of God. Once we understand the gospel Jesus preached, we do not need any theory of the atonement. Jesus' message as communicated through his favorite metaphor stands sufficient on its own.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a completely new typeset of the monumental 1957 classic, containing an extensive historical and theological introduction and detailed in-text notations by George R. Knight. Originally produced by the Ministerial Association of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Questions on Doctrine was widely acclaimed and distributed in the late 1950s and early 1960s as a forthright answer to questions from evangelicals about key elements of Adventist doctrine. Controversy regarding the book's position on the nature of Christ and the atonement soon stopped its circulation. As part of the Adventist Classic Library, Knight's essays provide the background for how the book came about and describes the interaction of the principal players involved in the crisis that shelved this classic work for more than a generation.
