Book Vulnerability and the Corporate Immune System

Download or read book Vulnerability and the Corporate Immune System written by Alessandro Capocchi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-06-10 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Companies are exposed to a large number of risks from different sources such as globalization, deregulation, environmental changes, technological changes, complicated financial models, and corporate governance changes. Parallel to this, various studies recognize enterprise risk management (ERM) as a new method of organizational control. With the spread of ERM frameworks, this book links the themes of risk to decision-making and strategic processes, moving from the issue of vulnerability in order to increase awareness that risk management cannot be entrusted to fulfillment. Instead, risk management must increasingly be an integral part of the company's decision-making and strategic processes. This book develops an innovative approach to the theme of risk following a business-economic analysis perspective related to the creation of economic value. Traditionally, the issue of risk has been widely explored with regard to finance and financial markets. In this book, risk management as a managerial process will be investigated in order to explore the link between risk and business strategies. Integrating risk assessment methodologies with managerial tools with which business entities can build value to protect their positioning and to enhance their economic and financial standing, this book will be of interest to students and researchers of risk management.

Book Corporate Sustainability

Download or read book Corporate Sustainability written by Paolo Tenuta and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-09-26 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces readers to the main types of corporate sustainability practices. The first section examines both the ratings provided by international agencies and the various ESG (Environmental, Social and Government) indexes existing at 2021. In turn, the second part empirically investigates the relationship between the level of corporate sustainability and corporate financial performance among the large companies listed on the Milan Exchange FTSE-MIB 40 index for 2015-2019. The book offers a comprehensive overview of current sustainability concepts and practices and illustrates how various companies are seeking to integrate them in their competitive strategy. Further, it fills a gap in the extant literature by analysing the origins, historical evolution and structure of the main rating agencies and ESG indexes. In addition, the empirical analysis of corporate sustainability’s impact on companies’ financial performance reveals the importance of collegial leadership – a commonly found feature of Italian family businesses that has not been considered in previous studies – as a moderating factor for reconciling sustainability initiatives and performance at family-run firms.

Book Audit Reporting for Going Concern Uncertainty

Download or read book Audit Reporting for Going Concern Uncertainty written by Sandro Brunelli and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-02-07 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book employs a narrative analytical approach to explore all aspects of the debate surrounding auditor reporting on going concern uncertainty worldwide. In-depth analysis of significant academic studies and of regulatory perspectives is combined with an illuminating empirical study in the Italian context. The book opens by discussing the assessment of going concern for accounting and auditing purposes. It is examined how going concern is considered in the FASB and IASB accounting standards and how auditors in the PCAOB and IAASB environments should verify its presence in financial statements and report on it in the audit report. Accounting and auditing in relation to going concern in other jurisdictions are also addressed. Research into the determinants, accuracy, and consequences of going concern opinions (GCO) is then thoroughly reviewed, with separate examination of studies and trends in the United States, Europe, and the rest of the world. In the third part of the book, interesting evidence from the Italian Stock Market, including investor reactions to GCOs during the period 2008–2014, is presented and evaluated. The book will be of interest to academics, regulators, and practitioners alike.
