Book Aphex Twin s Selected Ambient Works Volume II

Download or read book Aphex Twin s Selected Ambient Works Volume II written by Marc Weidenbaum and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2014-02-13 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Extravagantly opaque, willfully vaporous - Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Volume II, released by the estimable British label Warp Records in 1994, rejuvenated ambient music for the Internet Age that was just dawning. In the United States, it was Richard D. James's first full length on Sire Records (home to Madonna and Depeche Mode) under the moniker Aphex Twin; Sire helped usher him in as a major force in music, electronic or otherwise. Faithful to Brian Eno's definition of ambient music, Selected Ambient Works Volume II was intentionally functional: it furnished chill out rooms, the sanctuaries amid intense raves. Choreographers and film directors began to employ it to their own ends, and in the intervening decades this background music came to the fore, adapted by classical composers who reverse-engineered its fragile textures for performance on acoustic instruments. Simultaneously, “ambient” has moved from esoteric sound art to central tenet of online culture. This book contends that despite a reputation for being beatless, the album exudes percussive curiosity, providing a sonic metaphor for our technologically mediated era of countless synchronized nanosecond metronomes.

We have settled for safe and comfortable churchgoing while God beckons us toward risky and uncomfortable kingdom living. With Doxa, McKim shows that God's invitation is greater and more terrifying than any in all of history ∑ Why is ignoring God the riskiest thing you could possibly do today? ∑ Is God intent on crushing your ego? ∑ What is so unpatriotic and humiliating about worshiping God? ∑ Why might a worthwhile churchgoing experience have little or nothing to do with our satisfaction? ∑ Why is prayer a life-threatening activity? Allow yourself to be troubled and moved to action by these and other questions as you enter into a provocative and practical ten-week journey of transformation, discovery, and kingdom advancement. Discover that God has graciously chosen to display his glory in those who would simply "hear and do." Become the adopted son or daughter of the King whose unshakable kingdom is moving forward with or without you, and answer his call to enter and participate in that kingdom.

Book Walking in the Garden with God

Download or read book Walking in the Garden with God written by Lydia B. Miller and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2023-04-23 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our Walk with the Lord begins when we take our first step in faith by believing that Jesus is who he says he is. Thereafter, day after day, we willingly take up our cross and attempt to follow in his footsteps, finding out all too soon that “The Way” is not easy. Some will not understand our belief in the “invisible God.” They will consider us fools and secretly despise us for claiming to see what they cannot. While they may be blind to his presence, we see God everywhere, and in everything. Ours is a life-long spiritual journey which tests our strength, courage, faith, and convictions. While it may seem that we are walking alone, we are not. The Lord is always with us. Look around my friends...there are other Believers, each walking at their own pace...some far ahead, while others trail behind. Occasionally, someone comes along who falls into step and walks the long road with us. Know that they have been intentionally sent by God to pick us up when we stumble and fall, get lost, or become discouraged. We need their uplifting prayers, encouragement, and testimonies of faith, to remind us never to give up hope. This book is about my walk with The Lord. However, I believe the sentiments expressed are not mine alone, but universal to Christians everywhere. It is my hope that the words God has given me, will also minister to you as you walk your walk.

Book The Spirit of the Lord God

Download or read book The Spirit of the Lord God written by Mark G. Boyer and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2024-08-01 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Spirit of the Lord God presents seventy-three biblical-based reflections on the invisible power and life-source of God, known as Spirit, in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament), Old Testament (Apocrypha), and the Christian Bible (New Testament). Each exercise begins with a biblical quotation about the Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, or Spirit. The biblical words are followed by an in-depth reflection highlighting both the names for and the images of the Holy Spirit scattered throughout the Bible. The entries are arranged in an abecedarian (alphabetical) order, and they are designed to help the reader nourish his or her spirit. Meditation or journal questions are provided to assist the latter process. Each exercise ends with a few verses of a psalm that serve to close the exercise and further emphasize the role of the Spirit in one’s life. This work completes a series: Names for Jesus (2017) and Biblical Names for God (2023). Beginning with A (Abide, Spirit of Adoption, Advocate, and Agape [Love]), individual entries continue through the alphabet to Z (Zeitgeist). By reflecting on biblical names for the Holy Spirit, the reader comes to know better the Holy One who breathes Spirit everywhere and transforms all life.

Book Apocalypse in Paradise

    Book Details:
  • Author : Nancy E. Rose
  • Publisher : Xlibris Corporation
  • Release : 2014-04-11
  • ISBN : 1493154001
  • Pages : 233 pages

Download or read book Apocalypse in Paradise written by Nancy E. Rose and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-04-11 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Apocalypse in Paradise is a supernatural story that is a manifestation of the end time prophecies from the Word. Themes in modern society that are most troubling are reflected in this supernatural thriller. These disturbing events speak to the presence of evil in our society and around the globe. Issues like genocide, racism, white supremacy, gun proliferation, severely debilitating drug abuse, increased epidemics of infectious diseases, pedophilia, sexual assault, and the lack of a moral compass in modern society. Just like Babylon. The story takes place on a tropical island that has a military installation with a diabolical colonel, who like Captain Cook, tries to destroy the Polynesian islanders. Furthermore, he has his sights set on the rest of mankind. Colonel Strauss, like Hitler before him, wants to fully restore the Aryan race. Disgusted about the election of an African American president, Colonel Strauss is bent on ridding the world of the colored people, black and brown. And let’s not forget the Jews. They’d missed some in the gas chambers and death camps. His diabolical plan is to insert a horrible plague-a fatal disease-into humanity. The only hope is a life-saving vaccine that will only be given to white people. The story begins with a prologue that highlights the catastrophic events occurring on the beautiful tropical island called Nardei (Nar-day), located in the southern Pacific Ocean, as a result of the implementation of Colonel Strauss’s diabolical plan. It has been twenty-nine days since the ill-fated luxury ocean liner, Tropicana, left the port of Honolulu. Most of the passengers were either sick or dead. Kate, the nurse from the cruise ship, was now sick too. She still could not believe that evil could exist in a place so beautiful that it had been compared to the Garden of Eden. In this majestic setting, evil was running amok. And why not? Lucifer could quietly get his hold on the world from such a remote location. A sneak attack, if you will. Kate, the nurse on the Tropicana, has just found love with a Hawaiian warrior named Kimo, the leader of the island’s people. And sadly, now she was dying of the sickness. She knows that the end draws near. The evil present on the island is reminiscent of the days of Captain Cook, when he sailed into Kealakekua Bay in 1788 and exploited the island’s people. Ghastly incidents occurred, like decapitations, mutilations, human sacrifices, and rape of women and children, darkening the sunny days that were once bright and majestic in this tropical paradise. Now history was repeating itself. Today, the village is burning. Once again, the decapitation of the warrior men was happening. The heads were stuck on stakes in front of the village heiau, an ancient temple of worship. The same demon in Cook’s day is orchestrating the unfolding calamity on Nardei—a horror so great that scores of local people are taking their own lives, jumping from the high cliffs into the raging ocean crashing below on sharp outcroppings of rocks, death by drowning. Kate was not going to give in to the compulsion to commit suicide. Kimo, her new love, and the other village men are currently on a mission to invade and occupy the military installation to steal the life-saving vaccine. They dared to enter the lair of the beast. Colonel Strauss, a Nazi, a white supremacist, has a plan to restore the Aryan nation. He intends to destroy not only the island but he seeks to impose the eugenic goals of Adolf Hitler. Would Kimo and his men really be able to defeat the military of the United States? The odds were against them. Pastor Kua, the village preacher, joins Kate on the beach where she is watching the magenta sunset. Would it be her last? After all, she has the sickness. Pustules, sores that were bleeding, covered most of her body. She was already experiencing the hemorrhaging from her eyes, nose, and mouth. It gave her a dead vampire look. Despite one disaster after another, Pastor and Kat

Book excerpt: Some very good e-mail buddies over the years have shared many emotional and charismatic stories and devotions by tickling the "forward" key on their computer. And I'm certainly glad that I was privileged to be in their address book, to receive, read, forward and store the wonderful stories of praise and faith; faith in such a loving and awesome God as He that we serve... Sometimes, these e-mail missals contained humor, but not the "typical jokes" that flood the ether waves of the world-wide-web. Rick Warren warns against ""Pop Psychology."" Don't worship inspirational reading, but worship Christ instead.
