Book The God Kings of Europe

Download or read book The God Kings of Europe written by Hugh Montgomery and published by Book Tree. This book was released on 2006 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After many years of research and with the help of scholars from around the world, Professor Hugh Montgomery has released a book that is clearly one of the most scholarly examinations of the heritage of European rulers to date. The implications of this work are enormous as they involve a lineage traced back to Odin, once believed to be a Norse god, whose lineage then merged with the bloodline of Jesus Christ himself. Those who have dismissed the idea of a lineage from Jesus have given credence to popular fiction and what many would consider flawed research, as until now, that is all that has been commercially available. This is a subject whose time has come, with a well-researched book that goes far beyond mere speculation. This work fills in many holes that existed previously in this subject area and brings all the relevant pieces together in one place for the first time. It is a must read for all those interested in the truths behind "The Da Vinci Code" and in the way Europe has been ruled for centuries.

Book The God Kings of the Vikings

Download or read book The God Kings of the Vikings written by Hugh Montgomery (Ph.D.) and published by . This book was released on 2010-10 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the new, expanded second installment of the God-Kings trilogy, which traces the descendants of Jesus down through the ages. Other books purport to do this with great fanfare, however this trilogy quietly goes about its business in an academic style, often based on rare supporting documents that in many cases no other researchers have had access to. This includes the results of important DNA studies. In this second volume Montgomery picks up the trail of direct descendants from Jesus with Maria of the Elchasaites. She married the King of the Visigoths, Ataulf, which proved to be the beginning of the great Viking Ulvungar dynasty. A detailed history of these families follows, showing how they conducted themselves throughout the centuries between the years 850 to 1086 C.E. Many important historical events are covered in relation to this bloodline, including the conquest of England herself. Includes accurate, carefully researched genealogies and DNA related evidence supportive to the thesis of this work. You will not find much direct reference to Jesus in this particular book, but there is a bigger picture at work that, once grasped, may reveal a new understanding of world events. If you thought the idea of of a "bloodline from Jesus" was improbable, found only in novels like "The Da Vinci Code," then you need to look again, very closely, at the entire God-Kings trilogy.

Book The God Kings of Outremer

Download or read book The God Kings of Outremer written by Hugh Montgomery and published by . This book was released on 2008-10 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. the actual genealogy of the family of Jesus was presented so the Council could decide on how Jesus should be presented from within the Church. His human side was rejected and from that day forth, the accurate genealogy of Jesus has been covered up. Until now. Dr. Hugh Montgomery s research into the descendents of Jesus continues in part three of his trilogy, bringing us into the time following the First Crusade. After its success, a number of Crusader states were set up in and around the Kingdom of Jerusalem. This area was ruled by those who were the claimed descendents of Jesus. Dr. Montgomery s work on this subject follows genuine and proven sources, sometimes using important historical documents that no one else has access to. Therefore, this trilogy gives the claim for Jesus having descendents more credibility than found from most if not all other sources. Dr. Montgomery s work continues to be discovered by scholars and lay readers interested in provable research and genuine, newly-found documents regarding a bloodline from Jesus. This book presents the story of how the descendents of Jesus returned from Europe into the Holy Land, to rule over the area. At the end of their rulership in Outremer, their power waned. The families continued to survive in Europe, however, as they do to this very day. This book ends their compelling story, but reveals the last chapter in their amazing God-Kings saga.

Book Peacemaking and the Restraint of Violence in High Medieval Europe

Download or read book Peacemaking and the Restraint of Violence in High Medieval Europe written by Simon Lebouteiller and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-10-02 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The High Middle Ages have been seen as an important point within the development of governmental and administrative bureaucracy, as well as a time in which there was frequent conflict. This volume addresses the methods by which violence was regulated and mitigated, and peaceful relations were re-established in High Medieval Europe. By studying the restraint of violence and the imposition of peace, the chapters in this volume contribute to interdisciplinary discussions about the effects that violence had on medieval societies. The wide-ranging geographical scope of this volume invites comparisons to be made in relation to how violence was restrained, and peace established, in different settings. The chapters in the first section of this volume address the issue of how violence was moderated and curbed during and following periods of conflict. The second section explores attempts to maintain peace, and the processes which developed to deal with those viewed as having broken the peace. The final section of this volume explores the ways in which conflict was avoided through the maintenance of positive relationships between individuals and groups. This book will be of interest to both academics and students interested in conflict, the restraint of violence, and peacemaking in medieval societies as well as those working on ritual and conflict resolution in any historical period.

Book Authority and Spectacle in Medieval and Early Modern Europe

Download or read book Authority and Spectacle in Medieval and Early Modern Europe written by Yuen-Gen Liang and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-01-20 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing together distinguished scholars in honor of Professor Teofilo F. Ruiz, this volume presents original and innovative research on the critical and uneasy relationship between authority and spectacle in the period from the twelfth to the sixteenth centuries, focusing on Spain, the Mediterranean and Latin America. Cultural scholars such as Professor Ruiz and his colleagues have challenged the notion that authority is elided with high politics, an approach that tends to be monolithic and disregards the uneven application and experience of power by elite and non-elite groups in society by highlighting the significance of spectacle. Taking such forms as ceremonies, rituals, festivals, and customs, spectacle is a medium to project and render visible power, yet it is also an ambiguous and contested setting, where participants exercise the roles of both actor and audience. Chapters in this collection consider topics such as monarchy, wealth and poverty, medieval cuisine and diet and textual and visual sources. The individual contributions in this volume collectively represent a timely re-examination of authority that brings in the insights of cultural theory, ultimately highlighting the importance of representation and projection, negotiation and ambivalence.

Download or read book Divine Doppelg ngers written by Collin Cornell and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2021-05-18 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible says that YHWH alone is God and that there is none like him—but texts and artwork from antiquity show that many gods looked very similar. In this volume, scholars of the Hebrew Bible and its historical contexts address the problem of YHWH’s ancient look-alikes, providing recommendations for how Jews and Christians can think theologically about this challenge. Sooner or later, whether in a religion class or a seminary course, students bump up against the fact that God—the biblical God—was one among other, comparable gods. The ancient world was full of gods, including great gods of conquering empires, dynastic gods of petty kingdoms, goddesses of fertility, and personal spirit guardians. And in various ways, these gods look like the biblical God. Like the God of the Bible, they, too, controlled the fates of nations, chose kings, bestowed fecundity and blessing, and cared for their individual human charges. They spoke and acted. They experienced wrath and delight. They inspired praise. All of this leaves Jews and Christians in a bind: how can they confess that the God named YHWH was (and is) the true and living God, in view of this God’s profound similarities to all these others? The essays in this volume address the theological challenge these parallels create, providing reflections on how Jews and Christians can keep faith in YHWH as God while acknowledging the reality of YHWH’s divine doppelgängers. It will be welcomed by undergraduates studying religion; seminarians and graduate students of Bible, theology, and the ancient world; and adult education classes.
