Book The Girls of Silver Spur Ranch

Download or read book The Girls of Silver Spur Ranch written by Grace Macgowan Cooke and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2014-02-08 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The girls of Silver Spur ranch were all very busy helping Mary, the eldest, with her wedding sewing. Silver Spur was rather a pretentious name for John Spooner's little Texas cattle-farm, but Elizabeth, the second daughter, who had an ear attuned to sweet sounds, had chosen it; as a further confirmation of the fact she had covered an old spur with silver-leaf and hung it over the doorway. The neighboring ranchers had laughed, at first, and old Jonah Bean, the one cowboy left in charge of the small Spooner herd, always sniffed scornfully when he had occasion to mention the name of his ranch, declaring that The Tin Spoon would suit it much better. However, in time everybody became used to it, and Silver Spur the ranch remained--somehow Elizabeth always had her own way. This young lady sat by the window in the little living-room where they were all at work, and carefully embroidered a big and corpulent "B" on a sofa-pillow for Mary, who was to marry, in a few days, a young man from another state who owned the euphonious name of Bellamy--a name Elizabeth openly envied him. "I do think Spooner is such a horrid, commonplace sort of name," she declared with emphatic disapproval. "Aren't you glad you'll soon be rid of it, Mary?"

Book The Silver Spurs Home for Aging Cowgirls

Download or read book The Silver Spurs Home for Aging Cowgirls written by Laura Hesse and published by . This book was released on 2019-11-17 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Montana family made a big mistake! They thought they were opening up their sprawling ranch house and their stables to four retired cowgirls and their horses. Turns out three of the four women aren't cowgirls at all, and their horses aren't ranch horses either. And then there is the cheating husband that came along for the ride. The word 'baggage' just got a whole new meaning. If you think senior living means the party is over, then you haven't spent a night at The Silver Spurs Home for Aging Cowgirls where romance is in the air and sleeping with another woman's man can be murder.More information: When the Montana family decide to turn their struggling ranch into a senior's home for retired cowgirls and their horses, they don't realize how much baggage comes along with them, not to mention the fact that only one of the four ladies who move in is a 'real' cowgirl, and one of them also comes with a husband with a wandering eye. Sam Montana thinks he's seen it all until the four ladies show up with four stallions, blankets for every season, more tack than the barn has room for, and a list of what to feed and what not to feed the horses that is longer than his arm. Young widow, Emma Montana, and her children all agreed that a group of retired cowgirls in the house would be fun...just like having four new cowgirl grandmas. They didn't count on a cheating husband, his completely disabled wife left helpless after a massive stroke, his mistress of forty years, and the multi-divorcee deciding that Sam's the new mount she wants to ride. And then there are the crude jokes and midnight capers. Throw in a love struck sheriff, a jealous Forest Ranger, a hot ATF agent, a plane crash, a fugitive on the loose, and a rogue mountain lion, and Emma is over her head in no time. This politically incorrect laugh-out-loud black comedy will leave you wondering just what your grandmother is up to when you aren't around.
