Download or read book Home Again Home Again Jiggity Jig written by Susie Stone and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2017-03-15 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was the child who stood quietly in corners and listened. I observed. I watched people and remembered the eventswhat was said, what I saw. As I grew up, I remembered those incidents, happenings, and stories; and I loved to share them with friends and students. Over the years, when people heard my stories, they always wanted to hear more and often told me I should write a book with my stories. After many years of listening to people tell me to write, I wrote this book about the start of my life in a little town in Monett, Missouri. I have written about my parents, my hometown, people I knew, and incidents I observed. The book is filled with my love for this little town and all the people I knew. I am happy to now share those stories with each of my readers. Home again.

Book Missouri s Haunted Route 66

Download or read book Missouri s Haunted Route 66 written by Janice Tremeear and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2012-05-15 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ride shotgun with the author of Haunted Ozarks on this scary road trip across Missouri’s stretch of the “Main Street of America.” Alongside the nostalgic appeal of Route 66 lurk ghostly roadside hitchhikers, the Goatman of Rolla, amusement park spirits, the Civil War–dead, and the shadows thrown by the mighty Thunderbird. Spanning three hundred dangerously curving miles, the stretch of the Mother Road in Missouri earned the title of “Bloody 66,” and some of its stopping places are marked by equally grim history. The Lemp Mansion saw family members commit suicide one by one. Springfield’s Pythian Castle was an orphanage before becoming a military hospital and housing World War II prisoners of war. Follow Janice Tremeear as she takes a detour down Zombie Road, peers into the matter of the Joplin Spook Light and even stays overnight in Missouri’s most haunted locations to discover what makes the Show Me State such a lively place for the dead.

Book excerpt: Lucky Traveler is about Leo McGregor, a twenty-year-old surfer dude living in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. He and his Irish pal Jimmy Flynn were surfing and made a bet to see who could catch the best wave that day. Leo won the bet, and the payoff was one Powerball Lottery ticket. Leo was the single winner of the $156 million pot. After a couple of months of getting badgered by the locals for money and handouts, Leo decided he needed to get out of town, so she hatched a plan to hitchhike across America to Santa Monica, California, via Route 66. Even though most of the Mother Road was long gone, he planned to veer off the main roads as much as possible to catch some of the famous roadside attractions. Leo left Kitty Hawk and his girlfriend behind and began hitchhiking barefoot with only the clothes on his back and a customized backpack full of items he might need along the way. On his journey, he met numerous interesting people and saw a lot of interesting sights. At each town and with each person who give him a ride, Leo experienced a unique adventure. Some of the things Leo experienced included getting kidnapped by a bungling thief at a 7-Eleven convenience store, accidentally burning down a Mexican restaurant, and being in a van that flipped over the guardrail into a ravine and the driver turned out to be a drug dealer. Leo documented his journey in a journal on his tablet. He hoped to someday write a book about his journey and give the profits to charity. He reached Santa Monica in thirty-nine days and had grown in so many ways. Once he reached the West Coast, Leo had a decision to make. Should he spend a few days at the beach then head back to Kitty Hawk, or continue his soul-searching? His story continues in the sequel.
