Book excerpt: A comprehensive guide to transforming your dog into a valuable wing-shooting companion in the field and at home. Containing chapters on establishing essential behaviors, the core skills of the hunting retriever, and waterdog finishing work, as well as sidebars on such topics as breed selection and effective canine leadership, this step-by-step book is designed specifically for wing-shooters who want to transform their pup into a gentleman’s gundog.

Book Genealogy of Obedience

Download or read book Genealogy of Obedience written by Justyna Wlodarczyk and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2018-08-27 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Genealogy of Obedience Justyna Włodarczyk provides a long overdue look at the history of companion dog training methods in North America since the mid-nineteenth century, when the market of popular training handbooks emerged. Włodarczyk argues that changes in the functions and goals of dog training are entangled in bigger cultural discourses; with a particular focus on how animal training has served as a field for playing out anxieties related to race, class and gender in North America. By applying a Foucauldian genealogical perspective, the book shows how changes in training methods correlate with shifts in dominant regimes of power. It traces the rise and fall of obedience as a category for conceptualizing relationships with dogs.

Download or read book The Greyhound A Treatise On The Art Of Breeding Rearing And Training Greyhounds For Public Running Their Diseases And Treatment written by Stonehenge and published by Read Books Ltd. This book was released on 2020-08-06 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This vintage book contains a thorough and timeless guide to breeding Greyhounds for racing purposes. It is written by the master of sporting literature, John Hartley Walsh. A comprehensive treatise on the subject, this book covers everything one needs to know for successful greyhound management, including information on subjects ranging from rearing and training, to diseases and treatment. As useful today as it was when first published, this antiquarian handbook is a must-have for modern greyhound breeders, and would make for a worthy addition to collections of allied literature. Michael John Hartley Walsh was an officer in the British Army, a surgeon, and the Chief Scout for the United Kingdom from 1982 to 1988. Many antiquarian texts such as this are increasingly scarce and expensive, and it is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition. It comes complete with a specially commissioned new biography of the author.
