In fact, approximately one out of ten people has experienced a panic attack or a crisis situation. From fear of public speaking to fear of spiders, this feeling can prevent us from reaching our full potential. Large or small, the things we fear may seem insurmountable, but they're not. How to Overcome Fear teaches you that the closer you get to your fears, the more you understand them and the more easily you can defeat them. Speaking from his own experience, Marcos Witt takes readers on a clear path toward following the word of God as a bridge to living a life of victory and freedom, without fear. Download or read book QUEEN OF KNIGHTS written by David Wind and published by ColSaw Publications / DMW. This book was released on 1985-03-01 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Medieval England comes the legend of the Queen of Knights — The Special 35th Anniversary Edition. Conceived within the Druid mists, at the Pool of Pendragon, and as prophesied by a Druid Priestess, Gwendolyn Kildrake was born. She grew into womanhood in the days of Richard The Lion Heart, to become what the world had never seen. When Miles Delong, Earl of Radstock and military adviser to King Richard first saw her, he was lost to her beauty and might. He taught her the art of war; Gwendolyn taught Sir Miles much more. Together, Gwendolyn and Miles fought their enemies at home and in the Holy Land. But it was not until Miles was betrayed and given over to Saladin, the King of the Moors, that Gwendolyn left England's Druid Groves for the Holy Land. She went, not as Gwendolyn Delong, wife of the Earl of Radstock, but as Sir Eldwin of Radstock, where she led the fight through the bloody Crusades and into to the very Court of Saladin, and there is where the Queen of Knights became a legend. —— What they are saying about Queen of Knights "Historical Fiction and Fantasy...Outstanding!" Andre Norton, SFWA Grand Master & Gandoalf Grand Master of Fantasy “QUEEN OF KNIGHTS is an unusual fantasy in which history as well as fiction dances to the author’s piping.”—Roberta Gellis, author of the Rosalynde Chronicles. "The writing of this book draws a reader in. The story is told almost mythically.... In the end, it was a fun read!"—AMZ “…a magnificent well-rounded read!” Alex James, UK

Book Memoirs of a Lawman

Download or read book Memoirs of a Lawman written by Cyrus Wells Shores and published by Pickle Partners Publishing. This book was released on 2018-04-03 with total page 534 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gunneson City Sheriff “Doc” Cyrus Wells Shores (1844-1934)—nicknamed after the doctor who delivered him in Hicksville, Detroit in 1844—became well-known as a Colorado lawman for bringing down local criminals without parading his authority or a display of guns. Born in the village of Hicksville, about thirty miles from Detroit, Michigan, “Doc” Shores moved to Montana as a young man via a steamer and paid passage by hunting game along the route. Prospecting and hunting in Montana, he then worked in Wyoming hauling ties for the railroad, and later drove cattle up from Texas. After many experiences with Indians, blizzards, and rustlers in Kansas, Shores took his wife Agnes and settled in Gunnison, Colorado, where he served as the sheriff of Gunnison County when it was still "wild" and became noted as the lawman who captured Alfred Packer, the infamous "Colorado Cannibal." During his lengthy career, “Doc” Shores also served as a deputy U.S. Marshal, a railroad detective, and as chief of police for Salt Lake City, Utah—and he rode with Tom Horn when Horn was still on the right side of the law. First published in 1962 and edited by Wilson Rockwell, Memoirs of a Lawman are “Doc” Shores’ gripping, as previously unpublished memoirs, spanning his life from his early days on the Western frontier, his appointments as Sheriff, and later Federal Marshall.

Download or read book Jewish Virtue Ethics written by Geoffrey D. Claussen and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2023-08-01 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is good character? What are the traits of a good person? How should virtues be cultivated? How should vices be avoided? The history of Jewish literature is filled with reflection on questions of character and virtue such as these, reflecting a wide range of contexts and influences. Beginning with the Bible and culminating with twenty-first-century feminism and environmentalism, Jewish Virtue Ethics explores thirty-five influential Jewish approaches to character and virtue. Virtue ethics has been a burgeoning field of moral inquiry among academic philosophers in the postwar period. Although Jewish ethics has also flourished as an academic (and practical) field, attention to the role of virtue in Jewish thought has been underdeveloped. This volume seeks to illuminate its centrality not only for readers primarily interested in Jewish ethics but also for readers who take other approaches to virtue ethics, including within the Western virtue ethics tradition. The original essays written for this volume provide valuable sources for philosophical reflection.

He was Halbert Glendinning, a gentleman of unsullied character. Then why was he seen frequenting one of London’s most notorious dens of iniquity? And why has the driver of the coach vanished into the night? While Sir Nathaniel Conant, the chief magistrate at Number 4 Bow Street, accepts the official verdict of accidental death, Morton is certain that Glendinning was a victim of foul play. With the help of actress Arabella Malibrant, one of London’s most celebrated beauties, he embarks on his own discreet inquiry. And as the upper circles of London society close ranks against him, Morton races to unmask a killer whose motives are as complex and unfathomable as the passions that rule the human heart.
