Book The Fifth Gospel Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Fifth Gospel Classic Reprint written by Charles Roads and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-16 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fifth Gospel Paul's Gospel is not in Luke, though it would be easy to Show that Luke had the same love for the Gentiles, which, however, Matthew also had, to say nothing of Mark and John. Luke limited his Gospel to the ascension of Jesus. (see Acts i, Why did not Paul mention the Lord's mir acle-working among the facts he gives about him? Probably because no one ever called it in question. He does specifically claim mir acle-working for the apostles and disciples, and even as one Of the regular ministries of the Spirit through them. He makes strongest possible assertion Of himself as a worker Of miracles, and all this carries with it the pre sumption that Jesus was a worker of signs and wonders. And Paul is more concerned for spiritual results in life and character, and glories most in presenting Jesus as perfect Savior. Book The Gospel in the Gospels Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Gospel in the Gospels Classic Reprint written by William Porcher Dubose and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-09 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Gospel in the Gospels The title of the present volume is intended to indicate that, while it aims to be an exposition of the whole Gospel of Jesus Christ, it does not purpose to be a whole or final exposition of that Gospel. It looks forward definitely to a further and fuller expression of it. We have here to do with the Gospel, not in its developed utterance as that of the New Testament or of the Church, but only so far as it is contained in our canonical Gospels or can by ourselves be deduced from them. My own position is that, while the Gospel as an act or fact is complete in Jesus Christ Himself, the rationale of its operation in human salvation is best interpreted and stated by St. Paul. My true objective point has therefore been the completer construction of the Gospel according to St. Paul, to be treated in a volume to follow the present one. That the epistles of St. Paul are an interpretation only, and not a transformation nor even an essential modification, of the Gospel of our Lord is - next to the hope of casting a single new ray of light upon the nature of the Gospel itself - the point which I have most at heart to prove in the end. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “There are five Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John...and the Christian. But most people never read the first four.” There are any number of books on how to do evangelism. This book is different—it’s an invitation to actually live out the message of the gospel. Jesus’s original intention was for ordinary people like you and me to live lives that point others to the only Person who can give them hope for this life as well as the next—to visibly display the Good News of salvation through the Messiah and Redeemer of humankind. But many Christ followers today are either ridden with guilt for not telling others about Jesus or so silent that no one really knows they’re a Christian. The Fifth Gospel will help you wrestle with the critical issues involved in living out your faith in front of a watching and sometimes not-so-friendly world. Isn’t it time to become a witness for the One you profess to love? Prepare yourself to represent your Savior well and to discover a new way to do evangelism. Get ready for God to unleash the gospel through you!

Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Marvelous Work and a Wonder: The Gospel Restored Prefaces, as a rule, are not read, and we do not intend to bore the reader with any unaccepted matter. Perhaps, however, we may be permitted to observe that to arrive at proper opinions concerning any doctrine or denomination it is but fair that we reserve our verdict until it is heard in its own behalf. Rendering a decision previous to this would result in deprivation to self of the information sought, and do injustice to the subject considered. We are aware that time is valuable and that the sundry essential labors of life, engaging nearly all the attention, make it necessary that Whatever time there be to spare should be devoted to the most important questions. Book Rudolf Steiner and the Fifth Gospel

Download or read book Rudolf Steiner and the Fifth Gospel written by Peter Selg and published by SteinerBooks. This book was released on 2009-10 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 15 discussions with teachers of the Stuttgart Waldorf School, Aug. 21 - Sept. 6, 1919; 3 lectures on the curriculum, Sept. 6, 1919 (CW 295) "In spiritual science we divide the human being into 'I'-being, astral body, etheric body, and physical body. In an ideal human being, the harmony predestined by the cosmic plan would naturally predominate among these four human principles. But in reality, this is not so with any individual. Thus, it can be seen that the human being, when given over to the physical plane, is not yet really complete; education and teaching, however, should serve to make the human being complete. One of the four elements rules in each child, and education and teaching must harmonize these four principles." -- Rudolf Steiner For two weeks, prior to the opening of the first Waldorf school in Stuttgart, Rudolf Steiner intensively prepared the individuals he had chosen to become the first Waldorf teachers. At 9:00 a.m. each day, he gave the course now translated as Foundations of Human Experience; at 11:00 a.m., Practical Advice to Teachers; and then, after lunch, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., he held the informal "discussions" published in this book. The tone is spontaneous and relaxed. Steiner does not prescribe specific methods but introduces topics and situations, offering guidelines and allocating practical assignments that are taken up and discussed in the next session. The discussions are filled with insights and suggestions in many different areas of teaching--history, geography, botany, zoology, form drawing, mathematics, and more. Speech exercises are included. This edition also includes, for the first time in English, three important lectures on the curriculum, given the day just before the school opened. These fifteen discussions constitute an essential part of the basic training material for Waldorf teachers. Discussions with Teachers is a translation from German of Erziehungskunst. Seminarbesprechungen und Lehrplanvorträge (vol. 295 in the Bibliographical Survey, published by Rudolf Steiner Verlag, Dornach, Switzerland, 1961).

Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fourth Gospel: The Heart of Christ "The fourth Gospel is the Heart of Christ," is the euthusiastic language of Ernesti, from whom we borrow the words of our title-page. Expositors both ancient and modern, who regard the four Gospels as veritable history, have generally manifested the same preference. "Written by the hand of an angel," says Herder; and Schleiermacher, who with his school delighted in "the mystic of the four Evangelists," says that his soul must have been pervaded by eternal childlike Christmas joys. But sentiments of admiration are not evidence to other minds who do not find through John those depths of living water which those who are more contemplative have ever found. No book has been the subject of a more searching or a more adverse criticism than the fourth Gospel. The history of the controversy, with the motives of it, is exceedingly interesting and instructive, and I had sketched it in two chapters of this work, but was obliged to omit them in order to bring the volume within convenient size. It is the controversy of half a century between some of the ablest theologians and profoundest scholars. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
