Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Farm Income Situation: September 1950; Fis-122 Farmers' cash receipts from marketings in 1950 will probably total about billion dollars, or only 2 percent below receipts in 19u9. Prices of all farm products may average slightly higher than last year; but this is more than offset by a 5-percent drop in total marketings. Receipts from livestock and livestock products are estimated at billion dollars, 3 percent higher than in 19m9, whereas the estimated crop total of billion dollars is down 8 percent from last year. The increase for livestock arises from a larger volume of sales, as prices for the year as a whole are likely to average about the same as last year. The decline for cr0ps combines an estimated increase of 5 percent in average prices with a drop in volume of nearly 15 percent. This book was released on 2018-04-05 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Farm Income Situation: Sept.-Oct. 1949 Both gross and net income are expected to decline further in 1950 - perhaps by percentages not greatly different from those indicated for this year. Such a decline would bring net fam income about a third below its 1947 record high; but it would still be more than double its 1935-39 average. Farmers' cash receipts from marketings in 1949 will probably total close to billion dollars, or 9 percent below receipts in 1948. Total crop receipts are estimated at billion dollars and receipts from livestock and livestock products at billion dollars, down 7 and 11 percent respectively from last year. The total. Volume of sales is a little larger this year for both crops and livestock; so the declines in cash receipts are generally a reflection of lower prices. Cash receipts are expected to be lower this year for all important crops except corn, cotton, sugar crops, and some fruits. The largest relative decline may be about 45 percent in the case of flaxseed, due to reductions in both quantity and price. Wheat, soybeans, and peanuts are each likely to be down about a fifth from last year; tobacco around 15 per cent; and potatoes and other vegetables almost 10 percent. Declines are also expected in cash receipts from sales of feed crops other than corn. Lower prices for corn and cotton are more than offset by the in creased quantities sold. Therefore, cash receipts from cotton and cotton seed will probably be up slightly, and receipts from corn by almost 20 percent. In the case of fruits, increases for apples and citrus fruits will be largely offset by declines for other types. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Farm Income Situation, Vol. 137: Aug.-Sept., 1952 Farmers are not likely to receive more from marketings in 1953 than they are receiving in 1957. Domestic demand for farm products will probably be well maintained during the coming year, but some reduction in demand for export seems likely. As a result, prices received by farmers for the year as a whole may average a little lower than in 19520 If growing conditions are average, on the other hand, the total vollme of farm marketings should at least equal this year's record volume. Commodities for which cash receipts are most likely to be higher next year are dairy products, chickens and eggs, corn, and oil-bearing crops.
