Book excerpt: In the latest In the Line of Duty series, Detectives Earl Solano and Paul Derek scramble to covertly help their friend Kevin Brooks investigate a thirty-year-old case when plans for a top secret military airplane resurface. Brooks, a CIA agent, begins the search upon receiving a request for help from his mother-in-law. Brooks mother-in-law is shocked to receive a telephone call from her husband, Ezekiel Dade, who asks to see the daughter he has never met. Now out of prison, Dade had been convicted for bank robbery thirty years earlier. Since Brooks mother-in-law had been questioned by police decades earlier about an alleged Swiss bank account belonging to her husband, she thought Dade must have committed the bank robbery hed been accused of and would die in prison. Brooks wants to help his mother-in-law pave the way so she can introduce his wife to her father. Brooks wife does not know that her father is alive or that he had been in prison. As Solano and Derek surreptitiously help their friend investigate the old case, the bigger the mystery gets and the more dangerous it becomes. Both friends and enemies of Dades reemerge, all attempting to learn The Ezekiel Code.

Book From Law to Prophecy

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work examines text-referencing practices and ideas about sacred texts in antiquity. This book shows how Ezekiel, an ancient Israelite author, borrowed from and transformed an earlier text containing religious instruction. Ezekiel used this earlier text (Lev 17-26, the "Holiness Code") in order to explain the sixth-century destruction of his city and the exile of its inhabitants, and to create hope for the exilic community of which he was a part. It was precisely because he regarded this text as authoritative and paradigmatic for his own day that he borrowed its words and phrases and transformed them for inclusion in his own work. The techniques behind these transformations include syntactic modification, inversion of word order, creation of word pairs, split-up and recombination of locutions, creation of word clusters, conflation, wordplay, and reversals. By transforming the Holiness Code's legal instructions and covenant rhetoric into accusations and descriptions of imminent or recent punishment, Ezekiel could explain the tragedy by creating a causal connection between the people's behavior and the disaster they experienced. By selectively and paradigmatically using the Holiness Code's covenant blessings, Ezekiel envisioned a future characterized by physical and spiritual restoration. Ezekiel transformed law into prophecy in his attempt to meet the needs of his community.

Book Bible Code Bombshell

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explosive evidence that Bible codes point to the life of Christ! When Ed Sherman, a mathematician with 30 years of experience, and Nathan Jacobi, an Israeli physicist, set out to debunk claims that there were mysterious codes in the Hebrew Old Testament, they could not have envisioned the startling conclusions they would reach. As Dr. Jacobi, an agnostic Jew, looked for lengthy Hebrew codes about Christ, repeatedly he discovered compelling excerpts from the life of the man from Nazareth. Time and again Dr. Jacobi found that one-or two-word codes were actually part of much longer encoded sentences that echoed the Gospel accounts. Moreover, these encoded sentences were extensively embedded in two passages most widely regarded as prophecies of the crucifixion of Christ (Isaiah 53 and Psalms 22). Bible Code Bombshellsets forth startling new evidence that code sequences in Scripture are irrefutable evidence of a Divine hand. In this highly readable book, Sherman offers both skeptics and believers a gold mine of information that will prompt much thinking about the origins of the Bible. Unlike other Bible code books, this unique book features codes that are phrases and sentences, and not just one-or two-word codes. The only code book by researchers that are internationally recognized mathematicians and statistical expertsResponds directly and accurately to Bible code critics

Book The Exilic Code

    Book Details:
  • Author : Preston Kavanagh
  • Publisher : Wipf and Stock Publishers
  • Release : 2009-01-01
  • ISBN : 1556350708
  • Pages : 328 pages

Download or read book The Exilic Code written by Preston Kavanagh and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2009-01-01 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing from more than one thousand easily replicated examples, the author analyzes how biblical writers encoded messages into their texts. The Exilic Code dates portions of the Bible, establishes Ezra as an exilic person, brings to light a School-of-Daniel scripture factory, names Second Isaiah and the Suffering Servant, identifies the individual who triggered Josiah's reforms, and traces coding from the Deuteronomistic Historian in the seventh century BCE to Daniel's apocalypse in the second. The book also introduces a simplified form of intertextuality that one can profitably apply to biblical texts. For students of the New Testament, The Exilic Code not only identifies the substitute-king motif that underlies the synoptic gospels, but also sheds light upon why Jesus called himself Son of Man.

To experience the original the miracles, healings, power, and intimacy with God we have to examine our Jewish roots. For 2,000 years, there has been a separation between Judaism and Christianity resulting in a lack of miracle power and intimacy with God. The Incomplete Church explores what was stolen by the deceiver in both religions and reveals what will happen when the truth in both converges.

Download or read book The Doomsday Code written by Robert Fitzpatrick and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2010-04 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mankind has only one book that can prove itself to be the word of God. That book is the Bible. God took over 1,500 years to write it and now, more than 1,900 years after its completion, God has "unsealed" the Bible to reveal astonishing secrets it contains. The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 8:5: Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment. God has promised to reveal not only the time when He will bring judgment on the earth, but also the nature of that judgment. In our day, God is using His ambassadors to warn the world that its time is almost over, and that they must be reconciled to Him or face the evil He is about to bring: five months of hell on earth. In The Doomsday Code, you will learn: [Why and when the earth was created. [What happens to a person who dies. [What the Bible reveals about conditions in today's local congregations of Christian churches, and what terrible thing happened there in recent history. [How we can know that Judgment Day begins on May 21, 2011 with a great earthquake, and that the last day of the earth's existence will be October 21, 2011. [What will happen to you if God has not saved you by May 21, 2011. [Which groups of people God will punish more severely during the five months of Judgment Day. [Whose countdown for the nation of Israel began on May 14, 1948. [How we can turn back our calendar to determine the date of the Crucifixion. The author is retired and lives in New York City.

Download or read book Ezekiel in Context written by Brian Neil Peterson and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2012-05-03 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most perplexing and misunderstood books of the Bible, Ezekiel has left many scholars and exegetes scratching their heads regarding its message, coherency, and interpretation. Brian Peterson's look at the book of Ezekiel as a unified whole set within an exilic context helps explain some of the more difficult symbolic aspects in the book and makes Ezekiel as a whole more intelligible. Drawing on ancient Near Eastern concepts and motifs such as covenant and treaty curses, the various gods that made up the Babylonian pantheon, and the position that Israel held as the people of Yahweh, Peterson enlightens readers by showing that Ezekiel can only be understood in its original context. By placing the book first in its historical context, Peterson demonstrates how the original hearers of its message would have understood it, and how this message can be appreciated and applied by people today as well.
