Book excerpt: A new edition of a best-selling text with a CD-ROM by Dr. David Kemp The new edition of the best-selling Otoacoustic Emissions: Clinical Applications provides a thorough review of the complex physiology of the ear and clinical applications of the latest research on otoacoustic emissions. The book features new chapters on such important topics as middle ear function enhanced by reflectance measurements and the use of otoacoustic emissions as a preclinical measure of susceptibility to hearing loss. Accompanying the book is a CD-ROM developed by Dr. David Kemp, Ph.D., which contains animations, movies, and interviews. The CD-ROM serves as an indispensable aid to both teaching and reviewing key concepts. From physiological phenomena to diagnostic and clinical applications, this book is a complete reference on otoacoustic emissions that will provide graduates in audiology and residents in otolaryngology and otology with all the essential information needed for research and professional practice.

Download or read book Otoacoustic Emissions written by Martin S. Robinette and published by Thieme Medical Publishers. This book was released on 2002 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The method of otoacoustic emissions (OAE) was first developed in 1978 & is the first independent, non-invasive, completely objective measurement method of inner ear function. Written by a team of leading audiologists & filled with helpful illustrations, this best-selling book describes the scientific basis of otoacoustic emissions, the testing of normal & clinical populations, & OAE instrumentation. The authors place special emphasis on the proper interpretation of test results & on helping clinicians gain accuracy with OAE's in their everyday practice.

Download or read book Temperature Effects on Otoacoustic Emissions and Auditory Brainstem Responses in Rats written by Amanda N. Snyder and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) and Auditory Brainstem Responses (ABRs) are objective diagnostic tools used in audiology to provide information regarding pathologies of the auditory system. Several factors, besides hearing loss, can affect OAEs and ABRs. Internal factors include body temperature and internal noise of the individual, whereas some external factors include environmental noise, probe placement, and equipment parameters. The purpose of this study was to provide more information on the effects of body temperature on Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions (DPOAEs) and tone-burst Auditory Brainstem Reponses in the pigmented rat. Results indicate that there was no significant effect of body temperature on either the amplitude of the DPOAEs or the threshold of the tone-burst ABRs.
