Book Multitasking Executive Functioning in Dual Task and Task Switching Situations

Download or read book Multitasking Executive Functioning in Dual Task and Task Switching Situations written by Tilo Strobach and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2018-03-27 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multitasking refers to performance of multiple tasks. The most prominent types of multitasking are situations including either temporal overlap of the execution of multiple tasks (i.e., dual tasking) or executing multiple tasks in varying sequences (i.e., task switching). In the literature, numerous attempts have aimed at theorizing about the specific characteristics of executive functions that control interference between simultaneously and/or sequentially active component of task-sets in these situations. However, these approaches have been rather vague regarding explanatory concepts (e.g., task-set inhibition, preparation, shielding, capacity limitation), widely lacking theories on detailed mechanisms and/ or empirical evidence for specific subcomponents. The present research topic aims at providing a selection of contributions on the details of executive functioning in dual-task and task switching situations. The contributions specify these executive functions by focusing on (1) fractionating assumed mechanisms into constituent subcomponents, (2) their variations by age or in clinical subpopulations, and/ or (3) their plasticity as a response to practice and training.

Book Relating Theory and Data

Download or read book Relating Theory and Data written by Stephan Lewandowsky and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2013-06-17 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This festschrift represents the proceedings of a conference held in honor of Bennet B. Murdock, one of the foremost researchers and theoreticians on human memory and cognition. A highly renowned investigator respected for both his empirical and theoretical contributions to the field, Murdock summarized and focused a large amount of research activity with his 1974 book Human Memory: Theory and Data. This unique collection of articles addresses many of the issues discussed in his classic text. Divided into five principal sections, its coverage includes: theoretical perspectives on human memory ranging from a biological view to an exposition of the value of formal models; recent progress in the study of processes in immediate memory and recognition memory; and new developments in componential and distributed approaches to the modeling of human memory. Each section concludes with an integrative commentary provided by some of Murdock’s eminent colleagues from the University of Toronto. Thus, this book offers a diversity of perspectives on contemporary topics in the discipline, and will be of interest to students and scholars in all branches of cognitive science.

Book PHYSICAL EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT INTENSIVE CIRCUIT TRAINING ON SELECTED MOTOR FITNESS PHYSIOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL STATISTICS

Download or read book PHYSICAL EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT INTENSIVE CIRCUIT TRAINING ON SELECTED MOTOR FITNESS PHYSIOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL STATISTICS written by Dr.Sujith S and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-02-07 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fitness is the ability to live a full and balanced life. Greater the physical fitness the better the physical endurance and precision of movement will be, which are essential for our daily work of life. The improvement and maintenance of physical fitness or condition is perhaps the most important aim of sports training. Each person requires a different type and level of physical condition and as a result different type of fitness training or conditioning is required for different people. All forms of physical activities aim at improving physical fitness.

Book Vision The Approach Of Biophysics And Neuroscience Proceedings Of The International School Of Biophysics

Download or read book Vision The Approach Of Biophysics And Neuroscience Proceedings Of The International School Of Biophysics written by C Musio and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001-07-31 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The light sense is conceivably the key sense in both the animal and the plant kingdom. Vision research, undoubtedly a fast-growing field, is providing impressive results — thanks to modern theoretical and methodological advances. The approach of biophysics and neuroscience seems to be of great benefit and, for this reason, the present book gives an outline of recent acquisitions and updated advanced methods concerning this approach. Visual mechanisms and processes are analysed at several (molecular, cellular, integrative, computational and cognitive) levels by different methodologies (from molecular biology to computation) applied to different living models (from protists to humans, via invertebrates and lower vertebrates).

Book Principles of Training

    Book Details:
  • Author : D. H. Holding
  • Publisher : Elsevier
  • Release : 2013-10-22
  • ISBN : 1483160076
  • Pages : 173 pages

Download or read book Principles of Training written by D. H. Holding and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Principles of Training provides insight into the different variables presented by training tasks. It presents a wide sample of experimental data to reveal to the intending practitioner of training—whether in industry, in sport, in the defense services or other fields—that awareness of experimental findings must be paralleled by competence in analyzing tasks in order to determine how and where any particular principles may reasonably be applied. The book begins with an introductory chapter on the evaluation of training, experiments on training, limitations of training, and training problems. This is followed by separate chapters that discuss how trainers can influence the course of learning by manipulating knowledge of results; methods for minimizing errors in early learning; visual training methods; the use of words and actions in training; and the importance of practice in learning. Subsequent chapters cover the transfer of training; automatic teaching, or ""programmed instruction""; and recommendations for trainers.
