Book The Effect of Treatment Integrity on Student Achievement

Download or read book The Effect of Treatment Integrity on Student Achievement written by Karolyn Marie MacLennan and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Previous research suggests that repeated reading interventions improve student reading rate (Strong, Wehby, Falk, & Lane, 2004; Welsch, 2006; Yurick, 2006). However, little research exists in the literature regarding the degree to which the intervention must be implemented in order to obtain positive student outcomes. The current study used a repeated reading intervention at varying levels of treatment integrity with 16 second grade students identified as struggling readers in a quasi-experimental design. The repeated reading intervention was applied to three groups of students at either: 100%, 80%, or 60% integrity, and the results were compared to students in a control group. Three out of four students receiving the intervention at 100% integrity demonstrated positive g-index scores. Only half of students in the 80% and 60% groups, and none of the students in the control group achieved positive g-index scores. Potential implications, suggestions for future research, and limitations are included.

Book The Effect of Home school Communication on Treatment Integrity

Download or read book The Effect of Home school Communication on Treatment Integrity written by Jessica Lauren Neverve and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Federal policy and school psychology practice have recently increased advocacy for the use of evidence-based interventions. Treatment integrity is an important component of evidenced-based interventions and individuals who implement these interventions may encounter barriers to proper implementation. Performance feedback has been used as an effective way to improve treatment integrity for teachers, which has primarily used feedback regarding student outcomes and implementer adherence to intervention procedures. The purpose of the present studies was to consider the utility of home to school communication as a method of performance feedback regarding a student's response to a Daily Behavior Report Card (DRC) intervention targeting academic engagement in improving teacher treatment integrity levels. Results indicated that home-school communication in insolation might not be enough to promote high levels of teacher treatment integrity. Results also suggested that limited improvement in overall student academic engagement could be related to low to moderate levels of teacher treatment integrity, which provides additional support for the importance of implementation fidelity.

Book The Impact of Performance Feedback on Treatment Integrity and Outcomes for a Class wide Peer Tutoring Reading Intervention

Download or read book The Impact of Performance Feedback on Treatment Integrity and Outcomes for a Class wide Peer Tutoring Reading Intervention written by Yiwen Zhu and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To improve reading proficiency, evidence-based interventions need to be implemented with integrity in schools. Using a multiple baseline single case design, this study examined the impact of performance feedback from consultants on treatment integrity and student outcomes for Peer Assisted Learning Strategies, an evidence-based, standard protocol, class-wide peer tutoring intervention. Participants were four grade 2 to 5 general education teachers and the students in their classes. Results showed a functional relationship between performance feedback and treatment integrity, including higher treatment integrity of core intervention components. Reading growth rates appeared to have increased, but changes were not statistically significant. Overall, teachers rated the performance feedback procedure and PALS positively. Limitations of the study, implications for practice, and directions for future research are discussed.

Book The Effects of Two person Consultation and Group Consultation on Treatment Integrity and Behavioral Outcomes with Students with Emotional behavior Disabilities

Download or read book The Effects of Two person Consultation and Group Consultation on Treatment Integrity and Behavioral Outcomes with Students with Emotional behavior Disabilities written by Mary Camp and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In response to trends in research and legislation, the implementation of evidence-based practices (EBP) has become an important issue in special education. The growing interest in EBP stems from the limited use of a growing base of rigorous scientific knowledge and practices in the field of special education (Tankersley, Landrum, & Cook, 2007). Thus, in response to these current trends and reforms in schools' endeavor to improve students' behavioral outcomes by implementing EBP with integrity, the number of consultation services rose.

Book The Use of Performance Feedback to Improve Treatment Integrity and Student Behavior with a Class wide Behavior Intervention

Download or read book The Use of Performance Feedback to Improve Treatment Integrity and Student Behavior with a Class wide Behavior Intervention written by Diana Ginns Socie and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Students with emotional disturbance (ED) who receive special education services in a public school setting fare significantly worse than other students; they are more likely to drop out of school and experience difficulties later in life than students who receive special education services under any other category. Research examining traditional attempts to provide staff with professional development to improve their ability to work successfully with these students has shown that these efforts typically produce unsuccessful outcomes. As a result, this study includes the development of a class-wide behavior intervention based on principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and the use of performance feedback to support the implementation of the intervention. Using a multiple baseline across classrooms design, the effects of performance feedback on the treatment integrity of the system, along with subsequent changes in student engagement and student disruptive behavior, were measured. Results indicated that the implementation of performance feedback was associated with increases in staff treatment integrity. Additionally, improvements in student academic engagement and reductions in disruptive behavior were observed. Limitations of the study, implications for practice, and directions for future research are discussed.

Book The Relationship Between Treatment Integrity and Treatment Acceptability Across Two Consultation Models

Download or read book The Relationship Between Treatment Integrity and Treatment Acceptability Across Two Consultation Models written by Jennifer Ann Mautone and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present study examined the relationship between treatment integrity and treatment acceptability across two consultation models. Participants included 161 first through fourth grade students who met research criteria for ADHD and had academic difficulties and their general and/or special education teachers. Academic interventions were developed through individualized, data-driven consultation or generic, menu-based consultative services and implemented in the students' classrooms. Treatment integrity data were collected through direct observation during the intervention period, and teachers rated treatment acceptability at the conclusion of the intervention phase. Results suggested a moderate, positive relationship between treatment integrity and treatment acceptability for reading interventions for both consultation groups and a negative relationship between these variables for math interventions for the group receiving individualized, data-driven consultation. Additionally, there was a significant difference in treatment integrity between consultation groups; however, there were no significant differences in treatment acceptability between groups. Finally, there was no effect of type of intervention (e.g., teacher- vs. other-mediated strategies) on treatment acceptability, and there was a small, negative relationship between students' baseline reading and mathematics achievement and treatment acceptability scores. Implications for practice and future research are discussed.

Book Treatment Integrity in Positive Behavior Support Plans

Download or read book Treatment Integrity in Positive Behavior Support Plans written by Elizabeth Anne Tylor and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study examined the effects of adding a treatment integrity component to the Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) of several elementary and middle school students. Single-case design was used to measure student levels of behavior change and concurrent multiple baseline across subjects design was used to measure interventionists' adherence to the PBSP. During baseline, progress monitoring was conducted using the Treatment Integrity Checklist while the treatment condition consisted of an additional performance feedback component. The participants also completed a survey to measure social validity. Results showed significantly higher rates of student engagement in replacement behaviors and moderately lower rates of engagement in target behaviors across all participants during the treatment phase. The intervention also resulted in significantly higher adherence to PBSPs across all participants. A functional relationship between high levels of treatment integrity and positive changes in student behavior levels was also demonstrated. Results of the social validity survey indicated that the intervention was useful, valuable, and successful in measuring and increasing treatment integrity.

This book was released on 2018-01-13 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The integrity of knowledge that emerges from research is based on individual and collective adherence to core values of objectivity, honesty, openness, fairness, accountability, and stewardship. Integrity in science means that the organizations in which research is conducted encourage those involved to exemplify these values in every step of the research process. Understanding the dynamics that support â€" or distort â€" practices that uphold the integrity of research by all participants ensures that the research enterprise advances knowledge. The 1992 report Responsible Science: Ensuring the Integrity of the Research Process evaluated issues related to scientific responsibility and the conduct of research. It provided a valuable service in describing and analyzing a very complicated set of issues, and has served as a crucial basis for thinking about research integrity for more than two decades. However, as experience has accumulated with various forms of research misconduct, detrimental research practices, and other forms of misconduct, as subsequent empirical research has revealed more about the nature of scientific misconduct, and because technological and social changes have altered the environment in which science is conducted, it is clear that the framework established more than two decades ago needs to be updated. Responsible Science served as a valuable benchmark to set the context for this most recent analysis and to help guide the committee's thought process. Fostering Integrity in Research identifies best practices in research and recommends practical options for discouraging and addressing research misconduct and detrimental research practices.

Book Supporting Paraeducators Treatment Integrity to Behavior Support Plans Through Implementation Planning

Download or read book Supporting Paraeducators Treatment Integrity to Behavior Support Plans Through Implementation Planning written by Ashley Boyle and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Treatment integrity is a critical component to fully understanding the relationship between implementation of evidence-based interventions and student outcomes. Research shows that school-based implementers require support beyond what is typically provided to consistently implement interventions with adequate levels of treatment integrity, and thus be more likely to achieve desired student outcomes. There are several implementation supports that have shown to be effective at increasing teachers' levels of treatment integrity. One such support with emerging evidence is Implementation Planning. The present study, which employed a multiple-baseline across participants design, aimed to investigate the effects of providing Implementation Planning on paraeducators' adherence to existing Behavior Support Plans. Across participant dyads, results revealed increases in adherence to "high" levels of implementation and improved student outcomes (i.e., increased academic engagement, decreased disruptive behavior) following the provision of implementation supports. A discussion of these findings, directions for future research and practice, and limitations to the current study are presented.
