Book Catalysis by Ceria and Related Materials

Download or read book Catalysis by Ceria and Related Materials written by Alessandro Trovarelli and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013 with total page 909 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book follows the 2002 edition of Catalysis by Ceria and Related Materials, which was the first book entirely devoted to ceria and its catalytic properties. In the ten years since the first edition a massive amount of work has been carried out in the field, and ceria has gained a prominent position in catalysis as one of the most valuable material for several applications. This second edition covers fundamental and applied aspects of the latest advances in ceria-based materials with a special focus on structural, redox and catalytic features. Special emphasis is given to nano-engineered and nano-shaped systems which are a key factor in the predictive and rational design of ceria with novel properties. In addition, the book presents recent advances in emerging and traditional large-scale applications of ceria in catalysis, such as the treatment of emissions from mobile sources (including diesel and gasoline engines). The primary readership includes catalysis and material science researchers from academy and industry and postdoctorate and graduate students in chemistry, chemical engineering and physics.

Book Effect of Alumina Grinding on the Properties of Alumina Supported Palladium Catalysts in Selective Hydrogenation of Acetylene

Download or read book Effect of Alumina Grinding on the Properties of Alumina Supported Palladium Catalysts in Selective Hydrogenation of Acetylene written by and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this study, the effects of alumina grinding and mixed oxides (ZnO-Al2O3 and NiO-Al2O3) grinding with various Zn/Al and Ni/Al molar ratios (0.1 and 0.5) prepared by an attrition ball mill on catalytic performance of alumina supported Pd catalysts for selective hydrogenation of acetylene were investigated. It was found that catalytic performances of the Pd catalyst supported on Al2O3 milled for 12 h were superior compared to those of Pd-supported on the unmilled Al2O3. However, all the catalysts prepared from milled mixed oxides presented lower acetylene conversion and ethylene selectivity than that of the catalyst prepared from alumina milled for 12 h. From X-ray diffraction, it was suggested that varying milling time directly affected the crystallite size, surface area and acidity of alumina supports. As revealed by CO chemisorption, milling of Al2O3 supports could increase metal active sites of Pd/Al2O3 catalysts without change in the interaction between Pd and the alumina support so that the catalysts exhibited higher acetylene activity and ethylene selectivity. Moreover, increasing of acidity affected coke formation on the catalysts.

Book Preparation of Catalysts VII

Download or read book Preparation of Catalysts VII written by R. Maggi and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-08-17 with total page 1007 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The proceedings of the VIIth International Symposium on the Scientific Bases for the Preparation of Heterogeneous Catalysts, are in line with the general scope of this series of events. Emphasis in all Symposia has been on the scientific aspects of the preparation of new and industrial catalysts, or on new methods of preparation, rather than on the catalytic reactions in which such solids are ultimately used. In the present context, the catalytic event itself has only been considered as another, though often decisive, method of catalyst characterization.

Book Effect of Aluminium and Silicon Modification on Cellulose supported Nickel Catalysts for Carbondioxide Hydrogenation

Download or read book Effect of Aluminium and Silicon Modification on Cellulose supported Nickel Catalysts for Carbondioxide Hydrogenation written by Nattakan Jungjittamat and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The catalytic performances of aluminium and silicon modification on cellulose-supported nickel catalyst for CO2 hydrogenation were studied. The catalysts were prepared by the incipient wetness impregnation method. Nickel (20 wt%) was impregnated onto the aluminium modification (2, 6 and 12 wt%) and silicon modification (2, 6 and 12 wt%) of Avicel and dried at 100°C for 24 hr. Then, the samples were calcined under air condition at 200°C for 24 hr. CO2 hydrogenation was carried out at 220°C and 1 atm for 5 hr. The catalysts were characterized by SEM, EDX, XRD, BET and TGA. The experimental results showed that CO2 conversion and rate of reaction were improved when using aluminium loading on the support. The highest CO2 conversion (99.51 %) and rate of reaction (63.98 gCH2/gcat.hr) were obtained when using alumina loading of 6 wt%. In case of selectivity, silicon had important effect to improve selectivity and thermal stability of catalysts. The maximum selectivity (83.57 %) was reached over 2 wt% of silicon.

Book Effect of Alumina Support Modification on Performance of Cobalt and Iron Catalysts in Fischer tropsch Reaction

Download or read book Effect of Alumina Support Modification on Performance of Cobalt and Iron Catalysts in Fischer tropsch Reaction written by and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Effect of alumina support modification for applications as cobalt and iron catalyst supports in Fischer-Tropsch reaction were studied. Alumina supports consisting of various gamma to chi ratios were prepared using solvothermal method and employed as supports for cobalt catalysts. In order to identify the characteristics, all the catalysts were characterized using surface area analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy2Energy dispersive X-ray (SEM/EDX), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Temperature programmed reduction (TPR), and hydrogen and carbon monoxide chemisorption. CO hydrogenation (H 2CO = 10/1) was also performed to determine the overall activity and selectivity of the Co/AL O catalysts containing various gamma to chi ratios. It was found that both activity and selectivity were increased with increasing the chi to gamma ratios of the alumina supports. It is suggested that the spherical;-shape like morphology of the -phase AL O provide better stability and dispersion of the Co particles. In addition, the effect of Cu-modification of alumina support for applications as iron catalyst supports in Fischer-Tropsch reaction (H 2CO - 2/1) was also investigated. It was found that the use of copper-modified alumina supports enhanced both reducibilities and the overall activities of Fe/AL O catalysts. However, Cu-modification of alumina support appeared to have no effect on selectivity of the F-T products.

Emphasis is put on the role that catalysis can play as an essential element of sustainable development.

Book Supported Catalysts and Their Applications

Download or read book Supported Catalysts and Their Applications written by David C Sherrington and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The need to improve both the efficiency and environmental acceptability of industrial processes is driving the development of heterogeneous catalysts across the chemical industry, including commodity, specialty and fine chemicals and in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Drawing on international research, Supported Catalysts and their Applications discusses aspects of the design, synthesis and application of solid supported reagents and catalysts, including supported reagents for multi-step organic synthesis; selectivity in oxidation catalysis; mesoporous molecular sieve catalysts; and the use of Zeolite Beta in organic reactions. In addition, the two discrete areas of heterogeneous catalysis (inorganic oxide materials and polymer-based catalysts) that were developing in parallel are now shown to be converging, which will be of great benefit to the whole field. Providing a snapshot of the state-of-the-art in this fast-moving field, this book will be welcomed by industrialists and researchers, particularly in the agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals industries.
