Book The Terms of Order

Download or read book The Terms of Order written by Cedric J. Robinson and published by UNC Press Books. This book was released on 2016-03-09 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do we live in basically orderly societies that occasionally erupt into violent conflict, or do we fail to perceive the constancy of violence and disorder in our societies? In this classic book, originally published in 1980, Cedric J. Robinson contends that our perception of political order is an illusion, maintained in part by Western political and social theorists who depend on the idea of leadership as a basis for describing and prescribing social order. Using a variety of critical approaches in his analysis, Robinson synthesizes elements of psychoanalysis, structuralism, Marxism, classical and neoclassical political philosophy, and cultural anthropology in order to argue that Western thought on leadership is mythological rather than rational. He then presents examples of historically developed "stateless" societies with social organizations that suggest conceptual alternatives to the ways political order has been conceived in the West. Examining Western thought from the vantage point of a people only marginally integrated into Western institutions and intellectual traditions, Robinson's perspective radically critiques fundamental ideas of leadership and order.

Book Random Finite Sets for Robot Mapping SLAM

Download or read book Random Finite Sets for Robot Mapping SLAM written by John Stephen Mullane and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-05-19 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The monograph written by John Mullane, Ba-Ngu Vo, Martin Adams and Ba-Tuong Vo is devoted to the field of autonomous robot systems, which have been receiving a great deal of attention by the research community in the latest few years. The contents are focused on the problem of representing the environment and its uncertainty in terms of feature based maps. Random Finite Sets are adopted as the fundamental tool to represent a map, and a general framework is proposed for feature management, data association and state estimation. The approaches are tested in a number of experiments on both ground based and marine based facilities.

Download or read book Digital Radiography written by Euclid Seeram and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-01-23 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second edition of a well-received book that enriches the understanding of radiographers and radiologic technologists across the globe, and is designed to meet the needs of courses (units) on radiographic imaging equipment, procedures, production, and exposure. The book also serves as a supplement for courses that address digital imaging techniques, such as radiologic physics, radiographic equipment and quality control. In a broader sense, the purpose of the book is to meet readers’ needs in connection with the change from film-based imaging to film-less or digital imaging; today, all radiographic imaging worldwide is based on digital imaging technologies. The book covers a wide range of topics to address the needs of members of various professional radiologic technology associations, such as the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists, the College of Radiographers in the UK, and the Australian and New Zealand Societies for Radiographers.

Book Neural Network Control

Download or read book Neural Network Control written by Sunan Huang and published by Research Studies Press Limited. This book was released on 2004 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "While the book is written to serve as an advanced control reference on NN control for researchers, postgraduates and senior undergraduates, it should be equally useful to those industrial practitioners who are keen to explore the use of advanced neural network control in real problems. The prerequisite for gaining maximum benefit from this book is a basic knowledge of control systems, such as that imparted by a first undergraduate course on control systems engineering."--Jacket.

Book Discrete Painlev Equations

Download or read book Discrete Painlev Equations written by Nalini Joshi and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2019-05-30 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discrete Painlevé equations are nonlinear difference equations, which arise from translations on crystallographic lattices. The deceptive simplicity of this statement hides immensely rich mathematical properties, connecting dynamical systems, algebraic geometry, Coxeter groups, topology, special functions theory, and mathematical physics. This book necessarily starts with introductory material to give the reader an accessible entry point to this vast subject matter. It is based on lectures that the author presented as principal lecturer at a Conference Board of Mathematical Sciences and National Science Foundation conference in Texas in 2016. Instead of technical theorems or complete proofs, the book relies on providing essential points of many arguments through explicit examples, with the hope that they will be useful for applied mathematicians and physicists.
