Book Jimmie Moore of Bucktown and The Double Cure

Download or read book Jimmie Moore of Bucktown and The Double Cure written by Melvin E. Trotter and published by Solid Christian Books. This book was released on 2016-04-28 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In presenting the first edition of Jimmie Moore to the public, neither author nor publisher considered it necessary to offer a preface, but the book has excited so much interest and there have been so many inquiries as to whether it is truth or fiction, it is considered advisable to state that it is a true story and that all the characters here represented, though six years ago considered hopeless outcasts, are to-day prosperous, happy, contented citizens of Grand Rapids and are living, breathing examples of the transforming power of Jesus Christ, with the glad story of Redemption on their lips every day. The transformation of Bucktown is civic history and the work in that locality has spread to every other locality in this city. Districts that were given over to drunkenness and fights and that were dependent upon benevolent organizations for existence are to-day self-supporting. Surely the day of miracles is not past. Melvin E. Trotter. City Rescue Mission, Grand Rapids, Mich. December 15, 1904.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Double Cure: Or Redemption Twofold To make clear the subject of full redemption by two works of divine grace is the object of this book. The nature of the subject is such that a didactic style is required throughout its treatment; the reader, therefore, will expect simplicity and thought rather than eloquence and emotion. I have tried to be both brief and thorough, but have found it no easy task to treat an intricate and extended subject briefly, thoroughly, and clearly. Most earnestly of all, I have endeavored to prove every assertion in this book either by a particular text or by the tenor of the Scriptures as a whole. How well I have accomplished this, and my other desires relative to this work, my readers may judge. Trusting that The Double Cure may clear up the subject of twofold redemption in many minds and lead at least a few souls into the spiritual land of promise, I commit my efforts to my readers and to God. Book The Language of Heaven

Download or read book The Language of Heaven written by Sam Storms and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does the gift giver say about the gift He gave? This book will help you overcome the arguments, fears, and anxieties related to this gift. FEATURES AND BENEFITS Shares the author's personal testimony and spiritual journey with speaking in tongues Examines the history of this gift in the church for the past two thousand years Interacts with those who have denied that this gift is valid for today's church Speaks to the relationship between Spirit baptism, Spirit filling, and the gift of tongues Few other issues have separated the church more than the issue of tongues. Sam Storms focuses on this controversial subject with his signature insights to theology and the gifts of the spirit. What does the gift giver say about the gift He gave? Storms seeks to bring balance to this subject in The Language of Heaven as he wrestles with this sensitive issue experientially as well as theologically. He ultimately provides a platform to allow God to speak for Himself as he addresses every text of Scripture on the subject and engages with every theological issue that speaking in tongues provokes. As a pastor, Storms knows the questions that the typical churchgoer is asking and provides clear and accessible answers to them all, including: Is the gift of tongues for every Christian or only some? How does the gift of tongues operate in the life of the believer individually in private practice? How does the gift of tongues operate in the corporate assembly of God's church? How is the Christian edified and strengthened by praying in tongues? How do I pray for the gift and prepare my heart to receive it? You can overcome the arguments, fears, and anxieties related to this spiritual gift. Remember, God gives only good gifts, and it is His intention that His church utilize all that He has provided so that we might experience all that He is.

Book The Cure for Common Christianity

Download or read book The Cure for Common Christianity written by Tommy Galloway and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2007-04 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus stated that with faith in Him we would accomplish greater things than He. Jesus saved the lost, healed the sick, ministered to the multitudes, and raised the dead. Accordingly, the modern church should be doing much more. So what's the problem? Why do we fall short of our Savior's standard? Quite bluntly, Christianity has caught a chronic case of apathy! In The Cure for Common Christianity, using a command of theology and a unique, witty writing style, Pastor Tommy Galloway outlines the formula to alleviate this Church crisis. The problems are complex and the symptoms are multi-faceted; the cure is simple-a full-fledged return to the basics of Christianity. The world is disillusioned by the corruption and complacency plaguing our houses of worship. Christians cannot waste time. A spiritually sick world is waiting for a healthy Church to offer hope. They are waiting for - The Cure for Common Christianity. Pastor Tommy Galloway began his ministry at age sixteen. Upon completion of high school in Calhoun City, Mississippi, he attended Jackson College of Ministries and received a degree in Theology. He served as Youth Pastor in Longview, Texas, before beginning evangelistic work throughout the United States. In 1984, he married Candace Greene. They continued evangelistic work until 1988, when they were elected pastors of Powell's Grove Pentecostal Church in Jayess, Mississippi. After pastoring there for six years, they moved to Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1994, to begin evangelistic work again. In 1996, they founded Word of Life Church where they still serve as Senior Pastors. Pastor Tommy's vision is, "Lead Locally, Reach Regionally, and Grow Globally." Although pastoring the phenomenal people of Word of Life Church is his first calling, he still ministers at evangelistic crusades throughout America and other countries. Tommy and Candi have three children, Landon, Kristian, and Alexis.

Book excerpt: Faith, its a word that describes a belief in something that you cant truly know exists. Faith is someone standing in front of a closet telling you that there is gold inside and that you will get that gold at some point if you can just trust that it is there. Whats to stop you from looking in the closet? So many people believe that there is gold in the closet, so maybe you should too. The feeling of the possibility of getting the gold is so intense, it is just enough to make it so you dont try and peek inside the closet. The funny thing about faith is that without numbers, it wouldnt exist. Yet, your faith belongs to you; you own it in the most complete sense. It is you that owns this faith and it is you that decides what to make of it. People get mad when something makes them question their faith, yet the only one that can question your faith is you. No man, woman, movie or book can influence the decision you have to keep or discard your faith. In the end, you are the one who decides the direction of your life. This book provides a peak into the closet. It gives you the choice to either believe that you do see the gold, or to believe that there is no gold. What you decide to see and believe is ultimately up to you. This book will help you understand why there is no gold, but instead a much more magical entity. The closet in reality isnt a box but is an unending future.
