This book was released on 2016-11-20 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Church sees Mary as the "earthside of the Incarnation." In an attempt to understand the critical role she played in this great event, this book looks at her life as a young girl who said "yes" to an angel and brought God into the world. It begins with a discussion of her obedience as the pivotal point in our salvation. It continues with an examination of five aspects of her maternity - giving birth, nurturing, relinquishing, sorrow and joy. Our own lives parallel these stages in our conversion (giving birth), spiritual growth (nurturing), surrender to God (relinquishing), bearing our cross (sorrow) and the new life through the Resurrection (joy). Thus Mary can become our guide as we make our journey toward Christ. Further, by a focus on the humanity of Mary, we not only come closer to the mystery of the Incarnation but begin to grasp how the Church declared May to be the "Mother of God. This reverence receives strong emphasis in Orthodox Christianity. Questions for study and reflection follow the end of each chapter. Though relevant throughout the year, this book is especially timely for Advent reading. Also, it would be especially appropriate for an individual or group retreat.

Book excerpt: The New "Mary" Question Mary--Another Redeemer? explores Roman Catholic teachings about Mary from a biblical and historical perspective. Skilled and knowledgeable author James White traces how the Mary of the Bible--esteemed mother of the Lord, obedient servant and chosen vessel of God--has become the Immaculately Conceived, Bodily Assumed Queen of Heaven, viewed as Co-Mediator with Christ, and now widely recognized as Co-Redeemer by many in the Catholic Church. A calm, even-handed look at the woman the Bible calls "blessed among women"--and an invitation to single-minded devotion to God's truth.

Book The Immaculate Heart of Mary

Download or read book The Immaculate Heart of Mary written by John Peter Pinamonti and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2004 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A book that is a faithful reproduction of the classical "Considerations" of Father Pinamonti (1632-1703) on those interior perfections of the Blessed Virgin Mary which make her worthy of the esteem and love of Christians. The original Italian work was published over three centuries ago, and has remained a favorite book of devotion. Taking up one by one the dispositions wrought by the grace of God in the soul of the Mother of the Divine Son, it thus covers the ground of solid Christian teaching which underlies all true devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. With Father Pinamonti's crystal clearness of thought and expression, and revelations and teachings from over forty Fathers, Doctors, ecclesiastical writers and mystics of the church, including St. Anselm, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Bridget of Sweden, St. Augustine, and St. Catherine of Sienna, this spirit-filled book is perfect for the simple soul who wants to achieve a better understanding of the essentials of Christian piety. Imprimatur.

This book was released on 2014-09-05 with total page 650 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE MYSTICAL CITY OF GOD, VOLUME I “THE CONCEPTION” VENERABLE MARY OF AGREDA — A Catholic Classic! — Includes Illustrations by Herbert Railton — Includes an Active Index, Table of Contents, and NCX Navigation Publisher: Available in Paperback: ISBN-13: 978-1-78379-280-1 Publisher: Volumes 1 to 4 and a Popular Abridgement are available in Paperback and E-Book Editions. The Mystical City of God is a monumental four-volume history of the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as revealed by Our Lady to Venerable Mother Mary of Jesus of Agreda (1602—1665), a 17th century Spanish nun. Venerable Mary saw in ecstasy all the events recorded within the books. Later, Our Lady told her to write them down—the result is The Mystical City of God, acclaimed by Popes, cardinals and theologians, a book which has inspired the laity and the clergy for over 300 years and which has gone into sixty editions in various languages. Arguably, the most important book—second only to the Bible—ever to have been written. The Mystical City of God, revealed to Mother Mary of Jesus by Heaven itself, complements and completes the story of the life of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ but, in addition, provides the rich history of the entire life of His Most Blessed Mother. Through the study of Our Lady, we come to know Her, Her Son and the Blessed Trinity in ways never before imagined. The Mystical City of God consists of 4 volumes; The Conception, The Incarnation, The Transfixion and The Coronation. This is the unabridged Volume I, “The Conception”, containing Books 1 and 2. Yet most Protestants, and too many Catholics don't understand the role that God wants her to play in our lives. In Behold Your Mother, Tim Staples takes you through the Church's teachings about the Blessed Virgin Mary, showing their firm Scriptural and historical roots and dismantling the objections of those who mistakenly believe that Mary competes for the attention due Christ alone. Combining the best recent scholarship with a convert's in-depth knowledge of the arguments, Staples has assembled the most thorough and useful Marian apologetic you'll find anywhere. Relevant and essential -- Mary matters. Read Behold Your Mother and find out just how much.
