Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1902. Another heartwarming tale from the author of Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. The story begins: In alluding to myself as a Goose Girl, I am using only the most modest of my titles; for I am also a poultry maid, a tend of Belgian hares and rabbits, and a shepherdess; but I particularly fancy the role of Goose Girl, because it recalls the German fairy tales of my early youth, when I always yearned, but never hoped, to be precisely what I now am. Book The Diary of a Goose Girl Illustrated

Download or read book The Diary of a Goose Girl Illustrated written by Kate Douglass Wiggin and published by . This book was released on 2017-08-06 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The "Goose Girl" is a young and somewhat independent lady who, in fleeing from her lover with whom there had been a "little tiff," becomes a "paying guest" at poultry farm in a quiet, out-of-the-way Sussex village. The care of ducks and geese is somewhat more complicated than she anticipates, and this book told in a first perspective diary format narrates the humorous trials and travails of the care of often recalcitrant geese, ducks and chickens. "The Goose Girl's" charming black and white illustrations add to the humor of the story.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Diary of a Goose Girl The village is one of the oldest, and I am sure it must be one of the quaintest, in England. It is too small to be printed on the map (an honor that has spoiled more than one Arcadia), so pray do not look there, but just believe in it, and some day you may be rewarded by driving into it by chance, as I did, and feel the same Co lumbus thrill running, like an electric current, through your veins. I withhold specific geographical informa tion in order that you may not miss that Columbus thrill, which comes too seldom in a world of railroads.
