Download or read book The Devil Is in the Details written by Tony Kessinger and published by CrossBooks. This book was released on 2010-03 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Knowing one's enemy is crucial to any successful battle plan. The Devil Is in the Details arms the reader with a study of Satan, the greatest enemy of God and man, which is both engaging and scriptural. Details are important when understanding one's adversary. Past performance sheds light on attitudes, behaviors, and methodology, and Satan's previous strategies can be critically examined for one's future defenses. Beginning in the Garden of Eden and progressing through the Old and New Testaments, Tony Kessinger traces biblical allusions and references to Satan, his minions, and evil in general, in order to prove that Satan is alive, active, and even today has detailed plans to mislead and entrap humankind. Written in down-to-earth language with accessible biblical references, The Devil Is in the Details is as suitable for pastors, church leaders, and Sunday school teachers as it is for anyone interested in Bible study or learning more about Satan. Leading evangelical authors Tim LaHaye, Ed Hindson, Paul Benware, and Roy Zuck have all endorsedThe Devil is in the Details as well as other ministry leaders.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jennifer Traig's memoir Devil in the Details paints a portrait of a well-meaning Jewish girl and her good-natured parents, and takes a very funny, very sharp look back at growing up with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Recalling the agony of growing up an obsessive-compulsive religious fanatic, Traig fearlessly confesses the most peculiar behavior like tirelessly scrubbing her hands for a full half hour before dinner, feeding her stuffed animals before herself, and washing everything she owned because she thought it was contaminated by pork fumes. Jennifer's childhood mania was the result of her then undiagnosed OCD joining forces with her Hebrew studies-what psychiatrists call scrupulosity While preparing for her bat mitzvah, she was introduced to an entire set of arcane laws and quickly made it her mission to follow them perfectly. Her parents nipped her religious obsession in the bud early on, but as her teen years went by, her natural tendency toward the extreme led her down different paths of adolescent agony and mortification. Years later, Jennifer remembers these scenes with candor and humor. In the bestselling tradition of Running with Scissors and A Girl Named Zippy, Jennifer Traig tells an unforgettable story of youthful obsession.

Book The Devil s Details

Download or read book The Devil s Details written by Chuck Zerby and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2007-11-01 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Footnotes have not had it easy. Their dominance of eighteenth- and nineteenth- century literature and scholarship was both hard-won -- following many years of struggle -- and doomed, as it led to belittlement in the twentieth century. In The Devil's Details, Chuck Zerby playfully explores footnotes' long and illustrious history and makes a clarion call to save them from the new world of the Internet and hypertext. In a story that boasts a marvelous plot and a rogues' gallery of players, Zerby examines traditional footnotes and their less-buttoned-down incarnations, as when used by pornographers. Yes, The Devil's Details is full of surprises: Zerby hunts down the first bona fide fully functioning footnote; unearths a multivolume history of Northumberland County, England, that uses one volume for a single footnote; and uncovers a murder plot. He even explains why footnotes are like blind dates. Carefully researched and highly opinionated, The Devil's Details affirms that delight in reading can come from unexpected places.

Book The Devil In The Detail

Download or read book The Devil In The Detail written by Paul Holden and published by Jonathan Ball Publishers. This book was released on 2011-11-02 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The South African 'Arms Deal' was never a single event. Rather it was, and still is, a series of scandals and outrages, all contributing towards a dubious momentum that takes South Africa further away from transparent democratic practice. The Devil in the Detail, written by two of South Africa's leading researchers on the subject, takes the reader on a journey of insight. Witness at close hand the breaking open of State secrets, with tales of outrageous personal enrichment. Explore how the Arms Deal emerged out of the criminal networks of both the old SADF and the ANC's security apparatus, raising questions as to whether South Africa's remarkable transition was not oiled, at key points, by criminal intent and collusion. Follow the trail of the various offset deals done after the Arms Deal - cumulatively worth just as much as - and discover that corruption continues to impact on defence spending in South Africa. Examine the economics and witness how the Arms Deal was not only economically irrational, but virtually suicidal, almost single-handedly derailing the post-apartheid economic project. Finally, read about the rise of the 'shadow state', the politicisation of prosecutions, and the rise of the 'spooks'. The remarkable conclusion of this landmark study is that years after the deal took place, the forces that drove its decisions have only grown in strength, further blighting South Africa's prospects for a future in which all may have a share.

The middle-aged London cab driver has vague recollections of attempting to protect his female passenger from a gang of drunken youths. Patchy flash-backs of blood and screams leave him with the ominous feeling that he may have done something rather quite rash. Did he kill one of the attackers? This question is answered by the matter-of-fact Olivia, who assures him that this isn't jail and that David hasn't murdered anyone. His relief is short-lived when Olivia also reveals herself to be an Angel and that David is, in fact, in Purgatory. It appears that there was one fatality the previous night: him. And so begins the Trial of David Shepherd in the Court of Saint Peter. A court that is presided over by Angels, prosecuted by Demons and ultimately judged by a soul's adherence to the Ten Commandments. The Devil's in the Detail is a religious satire, for atheists, agnostics and believers alike. It poses questions that we will all one day ponder: How are the actions we take in this life, ultimately judged? What constitutes a good life? What does it really take to pass through the Pearly Gates? As David tries to answer these questions he will discover that sometimes... The Devil's in the Detail.

Vernor and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-01-11 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The devil hasn't always been depicted in art as we know him today. From the Middle Ages through to the Renaissance and into modern times Satan has had many different incarnations in art. Scholars say that no artistic representation of Satan was produced before the sixth century., and was only made official by the Ecumenical Council of 553. From then on, however, and throughout the Middle Ages, Satan's imagery was everywhere, in manuscripts, in paintings, sculptures and architecture. As Christianity grew and spread, so did belief in the Devil, who was blamed for illness, accidents, immoral behavior, crop failures and natural disasters. He was also said to be the leader of heretics enemies of the Church. This beautifully illustrated book by E.R. Vernor details the history of artwork of the Devil with over two hundred woodcuts, drawings, and paintings and postcards from the earliest days of printing to the 1900s.

Book The Devil Is in the Details Analysis of Substantial Market Power in Fijian Markets

Download or read book The Devil Is in the Details Analysis of Substantial Market Power in Fijian Markets written by Releshni Karan Reddy and published by Scientific Research Publishing, Inc. USA. This book was released on 2022-07-13 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fiji, being remotely located with a small population, does not attract many players to its economy. Fewer players with large market shares coupled with high barriers to entry allow firms with substantial market power (“SMP”) to form. This research aims to explore the existence of SMP amongst selected markets and the adequacy of Fiji’s regulatory law, which is inspired by the US and EU competition regulation models. Based on the analysis of competition cases and in-depth interviews with members of the Fijian competition authority, the research examines how FCCC has dealt with the issues of testing SMP in relevant markets. Three industries were randomly selected as case studies. These were the telecommunications industry, shipping industry and the LPG industry. SMP was tested using a three-stage test. Stage One was choosing the relevant market and Stage Two was analysing the market conditions such as market shares of players and barriers to entry. Stage Three was analysing whether the player could maintain its price independently of its consumers and competitors. If Stages Two and Three was affirmative in respect of Stage One, SMP was held to exist. Legislation was closely examined to identify and verify the test of firms holding SMP. The results show existence of firms holding SMP in the chosen markets in telecommunications, shipping and LPG sectors. Competition legislation in Fiji does not limit the mere existence of SMP but punishes abuse of its SMP. The results identify the ways in which the authority seeks to adjust its competition system to the particularities of a small developing country, in terms of legislation, economy, culture and institutional framework. The existing legislation needs to be reformed to include provisions identifying tests for SMP. The study reveals inconsistencies between the formal provisions of the competition law and the manner in which it is applied and advances recommendations for improvement.

Book The Devil is in the Details

Download or read book The Devil is in the Details written by Malcolm Blunt and published by . This book was released on 2020-11-03 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a collection of ten transcribed conversations, recorded 2014 - 2019, between Assassination Archives and Research Center's executive director, Alan Dale, and the esteemed British intelligence analyst, Malcolm Blunt. These unscripted conversations elevate the discussion of key assassination investigation areas well beyond the well-worn paths familiar to those who choose to study President Kennedy's life, his career in public service, the Cold War context of his presidency, the true circumstances and meaning of his death, and the alleged facts associated with the U.S. government's investigations into his assassination.Malcolm Blunt is regarded within the assassination research community as an invaluable resource on the CIA's internal systems and management authorities as they existed during the 1950s and '60s; he has invested more time and greater focus than perhaps any other individual on the JFK records held at the National Archives and Records Administration in College Park, MD. "Malcolm Blunt's brilliant work in the deep caves of the National Archives has opened up new perspectives on the Kennedy case for other researchers. Alan Dale's deft questioning of him in this book will help others to emulate his achievements." Peter Dale Scott, author of Deep Politics and the Death of JFK, Dallas '63, and The American Deep State"The devil is in the details -- also the light of truth. For nearly three decades, Malcolm Blunt has been digging through stacks of U.S. government documents and illuminating their meaning. It took an English citizen, working in his spare time and sidetracking his holidays, to burrow deeply into the hidden and hiding-in-plain-sight facts of the John F. Kennedy assassination -- the most earth-shaking American crime of the 20th Century. Countless Kennedy scholars, authors and independent researchers have come to depend on Blunt for eye-popping discoveries that previously eluded them. I count myself among this crowd." David Talbot, author of the New York Times bestsellers, The Devil's Chessboard: Allen Dulles, the CIA and the Rise of America's Secret Government and Brothers: The Hidden History of the Kennedy Years"It is the mission of the Assassination Archives and Research Center to obtain, preserve and disseminate information on political assassinations. The founding fathers of this country understood that in order to be their own governors a people must "arm themselves with the power knowledge gives." British researcher Malcolm Blunt's knowledge of the internal operations of Cold War intelligence agencies is peerless. To put the matter Bluntly, this collection of conversations with Alan Dale is a fascinating and groundbreaking penetration of the secrecy which warps the roles of all major players on the global stage." James (Jim) H. Lesar, president, Assassination Archives and Research Center America does not know that over 2 million pages of documents were declassified 22 years ago on the JFK assassination. Those pages redefined the scope and the nature of President Kennedy's murder. Malcolm Blunt is one of the few who has read and collected many of those documents. Not many people know who he is, but for those who do know, he is a hidden hero in the Kennedy case.James DiEugenio, author, Destiny BetrayedHave you ever wanted to be a fly on the wall listening-in on a conversation between two incredibly intelligent, informed and knowledgeable people as they discuss the CIA, the national security state during the Cold War, how the National Archives, maintains and hides records and documents, how the government hides and keeps its secrets, and the Kennedy assassination? Here's your chance. Don't miss it.Dan Hardway, Attorney; Former staff investigator for the House Select Committee on Assassinations
