Book Organizational Trust

Download or read book Organizational Trust written by Mark N. K. Saunders and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2010-06-10 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The globalized nature of modern organizations presents new and intimidating challenges for effective relationship building. Organizations and their employees are increasingly being asked to manage unfamiliar relationships with unfamiliar parties. These relationships not only involve working across different national cultures, but also dealing with different organizational cultures, different professional cultures and even different internal constituencies. Managing such differences demands trust. This book brings together research findings on organizational trust-building across cultures. Established trust scholars from around the world consider the development and maintenance of trust between, for example, management consultants and their clients, senior international managers from different nationalities, different internal organizational groupings during times of change, international joint ventures, and service suppliers and the local communities they serve. These studies, set in a wide variety of national settings, are an important resource for academics, students and practitioners who wish to know more about the nature of cross-cultural trust-building in organizations.

Book Trust in German Chinese Business Cooperation

Download or read book Trust in German Chinese Business Cooperation written by Edgar Klinger and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2024-06-17 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What makes international joint ventures successful? Among other key success factors such as strategic fit, material and political-relational incentives, and the cultural compatibility of the joint venture partners, the role of one factor in the successful establishment and management of joint ventures is critical: the mutual trust among the managers involved. This book explores how to establish, develop, and continue to nurture mutual trust between the managers of German and Chinese joint ventures. A series of guided interviews conducted by the authors reveals assessments of Chinese and European executives about their mutual trust in the context of the cultural differences between the two countries, the worldviews characterizing China and Germany, and their impact on the behavior of their executives. The authors then use these judgements from the interviews to make recommendations for action to build more successful cooperation in German-Chinese business cooperation in future joint enterprises. Trust in German-Chinese Business Cooperation is essential reading for managers of international companies and students of business management, business psychology and intercultural management.

Book Organizational Trust in Farmer Organizations

Download or read book Organizational Trust in Farmer Organizations written by Xiangping Jia and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Purpose: We examine the role and importance of trust in a type of Chinese farmer cooperative organization called “Farm Bases,” considering the extent to which trust affects their performance and how the relationship between trust and Farm Base performance is affected by perceptions of risk and uncertainty and other considerations.Design/approach: We interviewed a random sample of 355 farmers, most of who are from 42 different Farm Bases in China. We operationalized organizational trust by assessing the perception of trustworthiness and competence that farmers have in Farm Base managers. We conducted a regression analysis of the data to answer our research questions.Findings: Our findings support a nuanced role of trust for performance measures of Farm Bases. Trust matters but in limited and specific contexts. Specifically, trust does not correlate with the marketing volume of Chinese FBs and only weakly correlates with FB compliance of production standards.Originality/value: Farm Bases play an essential role in China's agribusiness policies and are pervasive in Chinese business practices. Very little research has been conducted on Chinese Farm Bases and of the role of trust in organizational performance.

Book Guanxi in the Western Context

Download or read book Guanxi in the Western Context written by Barbara Xiaoyu Wang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-07-04 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deeply rooted in Chinese culture, the concept of guanxi has been widely researched from historical, cultural and political perspectives. As Chinese multinational corporations (MNCs) expand, expatriates are increasingly carrying guanxi with them to host countries, yet little has been written on how this indigenous construct is employed in the Western world. This book takes a theoretical approach to the examination of this phenomenon and proposes a conceptual framework for the ‘guanxi capitalism structure,’ illustrating its fundamental role as the invisible hand in China. Providing empirical analysis, the author demonstrates how guanxi affects intra-firm multicultural group dynamics involving Chinese expatriates and host-country natives in Chinese MNCs. With insights for scholars researching Asian business and globalisation, and practitioners working in Chinese MNCs, this book argues that guanxi significantly alters an expatriate’s adjustment, and offers practical suggestions for cross-cultural management and the process of initiating, building, and utilising guanxi in a Western context.
