Book SWITCHING THEORY AND LOGIC DESIGN

Download or read book SWITCHING THEORY AND LOGIC DESIGN written by A. ANAND KUMAR and published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2014-03-06 with total page 841 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensive text on switching theory and logic design is designed for the undergraduate students of electronics and communication engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, electronics and instrumentation engineering, telecommunication engineering, computer science and engineering, and information technology. It will also be useful to AMIE, IETE and diploma students. Written in a student-friendly style, this book, now in its Second Edition, provides an in-depth knowledge of switching theory and the design techniques of digital circuits. Striking a balance between theory and practice, it covers topics ranging from number systems, binary codes, logic gates and Boolean algebra to minimization using K-maps and tabular method, design of combinational logic circuits, synchronous and asynchronous sequential circuits, and algorithmic state machines. The book discusses threshold gates and programmable logic devices (PLDs). In addition, it elaborates on flip-flops and shift registers. Each chapter includes several fully worked-out examples so that the students get a thorough grounding in related design concepts. Short questions with answers, review questions, fill in the blanks, multiple choice questions and problems are provided at the end of each chapter. These help the students test their level of understanding of the subject and prepare for examinations confidently. NEW TO THIS EDITION • VHDL programs at the end of each chapter • Complete answers with figures • Several new problems with answers

Book RF MEMS Switches and Integrated Switching Circuits

Download or read book RF MEMS Switches and Integrated Switching Circuits written by Ai-Qun Liu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-08-09 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) stand poised for the next major breakthrough in the silicon revolution that began with the transistor in the 1960s and has revolutionized microelectronics. MEMS allow one to not only observe and process information of all types from small scale systems, but also to affect changes in systems and the environment at that scale. “RF MEMS Switches and Integrated Switching Circuits” builds on the extensive body of literature that exists in research papers on analytical and numerical modeling and design based on RF MEMS switches and micromachined switching circuits, and presents a unified framework of coverage. This volume includes, but is not limited to, RF MEMS approaches, developments from RF MEMS switches to RF switching circuits, and MEMS switch components in circuit systems. This book also: -Presents RF Switches and switching circuit MEMS devices in a unified framework covering all aspects of engineering innovation, design, modeling, fabrication, control and experimental implementation -Discusses RF switch devices in detail, with both system and component-level circuit integration using micro- and nano-fabrication techniques -Includes an emphasis on design innovation and experimental relevance rather than basic electromagnetic theory and device physics “RF MEMS Switches and Integrated Switching Circuits” is perfect for engineers, researchers and students working in the fields of MEMS, circuits and systems and RFs.

Book The Principles of Switching Circuits

Download or read book The Principles of Switching Circuits written by Frederick H. Edwards and published by MIT Press (MA). This book was released on 1973 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Switching theory is concerned with the development of models and techniques for the analysis and synthesis of those circuits in which information is represented in discrete or digital form, as opposed to the analog form in which information is represented in a continuous manner. The application of digital techniques over a wider range of human activities has already profoundly affected modern life, and there is no visible limit to their future utility. This book is the outgrowth of a course on switching circuits that the author has taught since 1960, and it is designed as a text to provide a unified treatment of the subject with particular emphasis on sequential circuit theory. An attempt has been made to include only those techniques that have been generally accepted and seem to have lasting application. The first four of the nine chapters are devoted to basic principles and to combinational circuit theory. They introduce number systems, binary codes, Boolean algebra, switching functions, the analysis and synthesis of combinational gate circuits (including NAND, NOR, EXCLUSIVE-OR, and EXCLUSIVE-NOR), and threshold logic, among other topics. Also covered are algebraic, geometric, and tabular techniques for the minimization of algebraic expressions. The remainder of this book is on sequential circuit theory. A general treatment is emphasized by classification of the sequential-circuit operation as either fundamental mode or pulse mode, and as either clocked or not clocked. A comparison of the two modes is enhanced by design examples in which the same problem specifications are used for each mode. Both algebraic and tablular techniques are presented for the analysis and synthesis of these circuits. The timely topics of control states and register transfers in sequential design are included. The book closes with a discussion of sequential-circuit minimization associated with the reduction of flow tables, and the state-assignment problem. Answers are provided to selected problems.
