Book excerpt: Thomas Jordan's ancestors came mainly from France, moved to England, Germany, Ireland and Switzerland during the Protestant Revolution, and later settled in Maine and Pennsylvania. Thomas Jordan lived in Ireland, and emigrated to what is now Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. He married Mary Cookson, daughter of Joseph and Priscilla Cookson. Their children were Jane, William, Mary (Polly), Margaret (Peggy), Emma (Amelia), Hannah, Clementine, Isaac and Thomas II. Thomas left Pennsylvania, and became the first settler in Concord Township, Lake County, Ohio in 1802. He died in 1815. Five generations later, his descendants lived primarily in Ohio, although some moved to Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Oregon, South Carolina and Vermont.
