Book Coaching Buttons

Download or read book Coaching Buttons written by Jim Hall and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-08-05 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I've adapted coaching into "coaching buttons," where I use an available opportunity to do a brief coaching conversation with someone. The coaching button is a short coaching moment that sticks with your listener. Like the button on a shirt or coat, a coaching button doesn't do the whole job, but over time as you use more coaching buttons, the whole picture comes together. They key is to make these coaching buttons easily understood and memorable, so they are able to stand on their own and be part of a larger story. This book is a collection of essays about various topics on leadership and vision in information technology. As each essay presents an individual lesson about leadership, each can be viewed as a coaching button on that topic. By reading this book, I hope the coaching buttons will provide some insight on how to be a leader, how to lead through change, and how to do strategic planning. These are the essentials of good leadership.

Book The Development of Black Theater in America

Download or read book The Development of Black Theater in America written by Leslie Catherine Sanders and published by LSU Press. This book was released on 1989-08-01 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Development of Black Theater in America, Leslie Sanders examines the work of the American black theater’s five most productive playwrights: Willis Richardson, Randolph Edmonds, Langston Hughes, LeRoi Jones, and Ed Bullins. Sanders sees the history of black theater as the process of creating a “black stage reality” while at the same time transforming conventions borrowed from white European culture into forms appropriate to black artists and audiences. The author argues that only when these things were accomplished could the aim of black playwrights, often articulated as “the realistic portrayal of the Negro,” be fully realized. This study also examines the changing nature of the dialogue black playwrights have held with the dominant tradition and how that dialogue has shaped their imaginations. Sanders’ discussion of Richardson, Edmonds, Hughes, Jones, and Bullins provides a context for approaching the work of other black playwrights, such as James Baldwin, Lorraine Hansberry, and Owen Dodson. And her argument provides a concrete way of understanding how the context of a dominant culture influences the artistic imagination of writers not of that culture, who must come to terms with its influences and transform it into a vehicle of their own.

Book Little Lulu The Fuzzythingus Poopi

Download or read book Little Lulu The Fuzzythingus Poopi written by John Stanley and published by Enfant. This book was released on 2020-08-04 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the best comic books of all time, now in full color and just as funny as ever! Lulu Moppet is back with even more outlandish adventures and misadventures, as cartoonist John Stanley settles into kooky and entertaining suburban storylines starring Lulu, Tubby, Alvin, and the rest of the gang. Lulu is a strong, assertive young girl who is both entertaining and empowering to girls and women of all ages—even if she sometimes finds herself in hot water. In Little Lulu: The Hooky Team, she outsmarts criminals who mistake her for a wealthy young girl, gets into hijinks during a day at the beach, and plays hooky—but only by accident! Over the course of these stories, Stanley excels at visual gags, from Lulu using a pencil sharpener on lipstick to a disgruntled Alvin being flocked by girls after trying his mother’s perfume. This is the second installment in Drawn & Quarterly’s landmark reprint series of the classic John Stanley comic strip that was first published by Dell Comics in the 1940s and ’50s. Little Lulu: The Hooky Team will delight longtime fans of the series and new readers alike.

  • Author : Scott Johnston

  • ISBN : 1250222389
  • Pages : 398 pages

Download or read book Campusland written by Scott Johnston and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2019-08-13 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This high-spirited, richly imagined, and brave novel is a delight to read... Smart and hilarious." — Kirkus Reviews Joyous, fast and funny, Scott Johnston’s Campusland is a satiric howl at today’s elite educational institutions—from safe spaces to tribal infighting to the sheer sanctimony. A wickedly delightful novel that may remind you of Tom Wolfe and David Lodge. Her room sucks. Her closet isn’t big enough for two weeks’-worth of outfits, much less her new Rag & Bone for fall. And there’s nothing worth posting. Cruel. To Lulu Harris—It Girl-in-the-Making—her first year at the ultra-competitive Ivy-like Devon University is a dreary impediment. If she’s fabulous and no one sees it, what’s the point? To Eph Russell, who looks and sounds like an avatar of privilege (shh!–he’s anything but) Devon is heaven. All day to think and read and linger over a Welsh rarebit at The Faculty Club, not to mention teach English 240 where he gets to discuss all his 19th Century favorites, like Mark Twain. If Eph could just get tenure, he could stay forever, but there are landmines everywhere. In his seventh year at Devon, Red Wheeler is the alpha dog on top of Devon’s progressive hierarchy, the most woke guy on campus. But when his position is challenged, Red is forced to take measures. Before first term is halfway finished, Lulu bungles her social cache with her clubbable upperclass peers, and is forced to reinvent herself. Shedding her designer clothes, she puts on flannel and a brand-new persona: campus victim. For Lulu to claw her way back to the top, she’ll build a pyre and roast anyone in her way. Presiding over this ferment is Milton Strauss, Devon’s feckless president, who spends his days managing perpetually aggrieved students, scheming administrators, jealous professors, billionaire donors, and bumptious frat boys. He just can’t say yes fast enough. And what to do with Martika Malik-Adams? Isn’t her giant salary as vice-president of Diversity & Inclusion enough? All paths converge as privileged, marginalized, and radical students form identity alliances, sacrifice education for outrage, and push varied agendas of political correctness that drags every free thought of higher learning into the lower depths of an entitled underclass. Campusland is a riotous, subversive and fresh read.
