Download or read book The Costs of Dismissal An Analysis in Community Justice and Efficiency written by Frances Raday and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of collective dismissal - dismissal in the context of technological change, reorganization, or plant closure - has received much attention in recent years in both Europe and the United States. Statutory measures as well as collective bargaining arrangements have been introduced to alleviate employee suffering through payment of severance compensation, and provision has been made for consultation with unions or employee committees and for placement or retraining schemes run by state or employer/union agencies. The purpose of this paper is not to discuss the various measures but, rather, to explain the theoretical basis for allocation of the costs of dislocation engendered by collective dismissal.

How do clients of justice systems like the way in which their needs and concerns are voiced? Do they feel they received sufficient information about the procedure? Do they think the outcome was fair and did it help to solve their problem? Do they think the procedure was a value for their money? How much time did they spend? This methodology provides answers to such questions so that citizens using the justice system can voice their needs and providers of justice services can improve their processes.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corrections in the Community, Sixth Edition, examines the current state of community corrections and proposes an evidence-based approach to making programs more effective. As the U.S. prison system approaches meltdown, options like probation, parole, alternative sentencing, and both residential and non-residential programs in the community continue to grow in importance. This text provides a solid foundation and includes the most salient information available on the broad and dynamic subject of community corrections. Authors Latessa and Smith organize and evaluate the latest data on the assessment of offender risk/need/responsivity and successful methods that continue to improve community supervision and its effects on different types of clients, from the mentally ill to juveniles. This book provides students with a thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of community corrections and prepares them to evaluate and strengthen these crucial programs. This sixth edition includes a new chapter on specialty drug and other problem-solving courts. Now found in every state, these specialty courts represent a new way to deal with some of the problems that face our citizens, be it substance abuse or reentry to the community from prison. Chapters contain key terms, boxed material, review questions, and recommended readings, and a glossary is provided to clarify important concepts.
