Book The Complete Works of Rosa Luxemburg Volume III

Download or read book The Complete Works of Rosa Luxemburg Volume III written by Rosa Luxemburg and published by Verso Books. This book was released on 2022-11-29 with total page 593 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rosa Luxemburg's corruscating politics texts on the 1905 Revolution This collection is the first of three volumes of the Complete Works devoted to the central theme of Rosa Luxemburg’s life and work—revolution. Spanning the years 1897 to the end of 1905, they contain speeches, articles, and essays on the strikes, protests, and political debates that culminated in the 1905 Russian Revolution—one of the most important social upheavals of modern times. Luxemburg’s near-daily articles and reports during 1905 on the ongoing revolution (which comprises the bulk of this volume) shed new light on such issues as the relation of spontaneity and organization, the role of national minorities in social revolution, and the inseparability of the struggle for socialism from revolutionary democracy. We become witness to Luxemburg’s effort to respond to the impulses, challenges, and ideas arising from a living revolutionary process, which in turn becomes the source of much of her subsequent political theory—such as her writings on the mass strike, her strident internationalism, and her insistence that revolutionary struggle never take its eyes off of the need to transform the human personality. Virtually all of these writings appear in English for the first time (translated from both German and Polish) and many have only recently been identified as having been written by Luxemburg.

Book The Collected Works of Edward Schillebeeckx Volume 3

Download or read book The Collected Works of Edward Schillebeeckx Volume 3 written by Edward Schillebeeckx and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2014-09-25 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God, the Future of Man focuses on religion and secularisation, viewed from various vantage points: secularisation and God-talk; secularisation and the church's liturgy; secularisation and the church's new self-understanding; and, finally, secularisation and the future of humankind on earth in light of the eschaton (church and social politics). These thought-provoking reflections are presented against the backdrop of Schillebeeckx's hermeneutic premises. In the concluding chapter his reflections on secularisation culminate in a God concept that can function fruitfully in a modern culture that assigns the future pride of place: God as the future of humankind. Written in a period pregnant with Cultural Revolution and religious change, the book foregrounds the pivotal issue of secularisation in a thought-provoking way. With feverish urgency he reflects on various forms of religiosity in the modern world. His contribution to the debate could just as well have been written today.

Book The Complete Works of Zacharias Tanee Fomum on Prayer Volume 3

Download or read book The Complete Works of Zacharias Tanee Fomum on Prayer Volume 3 written by Zacharias Tanee Fomum and published by ZTF Books Online. This book was released on 1901 with total page 922 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Complete Works of Zacharias Tanee Fomum on Prayer (Volume 3)” contains the following books: 1) Life-Changing Thoughts on Prayer (Volume 2) 2) The Ministry of Supplication 3) Moving God Through Prayer 4) Waiting on the Lord in Prayer 5) Prayer Crusades (Volume 1) The life-changing thoughts on prayer contained in this volume are like the pings that get the believer to detect the will and leading of God in various domains of prayer. Each one of the thoughts is an entire topic to be pursued, explored, and developed to the fullest. As you go through these thoughts, you are travelling with the author along his journey around the world, doing God’s work of ministry, while in the midst of prayer. Supplication is handled from the glaring example of Hannah who, having been barren for a long while, desperately asked God for a baby, as her priced treasure to be given back to Him. In supplication, the supplicant is so desperate that he will not rest and will not receive ‘No’ from God for an answer. This goes on till the point of breakthrough. Those who make requests while keeping other options open are not supplicating. With supplication, there is one request, no options and no plan ‘B’. The reader will also learn how to move God through prayer. There is no way anyone can move God through prayer if he does not know the perfect will of the Lord about what he is praying for. It is those who know God’s will and pray that will back to Him that moves Him through to answer and to do things in response to prayer. God is not obliged to answer prayer that is not in tandem with His will. The dynamics of waiting on the Lord in prayer are not the tools of a rapacious world that wants instantaneous answers to prayer. One may have to abide in ceaseless prayer before the Lord about an issue for a year, ten years, or more, and not give up until the day the Lord answers or gives assurance that He will surely answer. This volume ends with the author’s practical life of prayer crusades, praying with his people. Prayer crusades range from 8 hours, 10 hours or more of personal or group prayer daily for periods ranging from 21 days to 40 days and beyond. In this final part of the volume, the reader finds himself in the prayer crusades, praying with the author and his people.

Book The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda Volume 9

Download or read book The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda Volume 9 written by Swami Vivekananda and published by Advaita Ashrama (A publication branch of Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math). This book was released on with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published by Advaita Ashrama, a publication house of Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math, this is Volume 9 of the nine volume series constituting 'The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda'. In these volumes we have not only a gospel to the world at large, but also, to its own children, the Charter of the Hindu faith. For the first time in history, Hinduism itself forms here the subject of generalization of a Hindu mind of the highest order. What Hinduism had needed was the organizing and consolidating of its own idea, a rock where she could lie at anchor, and an authoritative utterance in which she might recognise herself. What the world had needed was a faith that had no fear of truth. Both are found in the words and writings of Swami Vivekananda. It is the latest gospel of a modern Prophet of religion and spirituality to the mankind.
