Book Christ In All The Scriptures

Download or read book Christ In All The Scriptures written by A M Hodgkin and published by . This book was released on 2022-11-13 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book seeks to demonstrate that those references to Christ are found in all of the Sciptures. On the glorious resurrection morning Mary went to seek for Jesus. She sought Him in the tomb, but He stood beside her. She thought He was the gardener, but the one word "Mary " revealed to her her Saviour. As we read some passage in the Old Testament how often our eyes are holden, and we see only the earthly form: we see Aaron the priest, or David the shepherd, or Solomon the king; but if, like Mary, we are really seeking the Lord Jesus, He manifests Himself to us through the outward type, and we turn in glad surprise, and, looking up, say, " Rabboni " (lit. my great One). As we continue to seek, we find Him in the least expected places of the Old Testament, until the whole grows luminous with the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. "In the volume of the book it is written of Me." All the lines of history and type, of Psalm and prophecy, converge towards one centre Jesus Christ, and to one supreme event. His death on the Cross for our salvation. And from that centre again all the lines of history in the book of Acts, of experience in the Epistles, and of prophecy in Revelation radiate out once more to testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. After His resurrection our Lord not only "opened the Scriptures" to His disciples, but also "opened their under- standing that they might understand the Scriptures." He is ready to do the same for us. The same Holy Spirit who moved holy men of old to write the Scriptures, is close at hand to make the words life to our souls, by taking of the things of Christ and revealing them unto us. Of the books of the New Testament only a brief summary is here given, partly because they are so much more studied, partly because to treat of them at any adequate length would swell this book beyond the limits of a single volume, and still more because the chief aim of the present Studies is to show that Christ is the Key to the Old Testament Scriptures.

Book The Middle East in Bible Prophecy

Download or read book The Middle East in Bible Prophecy written by United Church of God and published by United Church of God. This book was released on 2010-08-20 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Arab Spring, the continuing Israel - Palestine conflict... why does the Middle East dominate the news headlines so often? One obvious answer is oil, the lifeblood of our modern world. The crucial importance of oil alone ensures that the Middle East will remain in the headlines for years. The Middle East is also the birthplace of the world's three great monotheistic religions—Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It has also been the battlefield for each religion—trying to control the territory they consider holy. Nowhere are these conflicts more obvious than in Israel, and specifically in Jerusalem. Whether you understand it or not, events in the Middle East are destined to affect the lives of every person on earth! Bible prophecy gives us the clues to understand what will happen. This ebook, "The Middle East in Bible Prophecy", will help you better understand the troubled history of the Middle East—and its tumultuous future. Chapters in this ebook: -- Introduction: Worlds in Turmoil -- The Middle East: Worlds in Collision -- The Sons of Abraham -- The Rise and Fall of Ancient Israel -- The Four Empires of Daniel's Prophecies -- The Coming of Islam -- The Jews: From the Dispersion to the Modern Israeli State -- The Creation of the Modern Middle East -- A Rising Tide of Arab Nationalism -- Fundamentalist Islam Resurges -- Anger Mounts Following Gulf War -- Not Enemies Forever -- "Why Do People Hate Us So Much?" -- War and Peace in the Middle East -- What Is the "Abomination of Desolation"? -- Prophecy of an Arab Confederation -- What Should You Do? Inside this Bible Study Aid ebook: "It’s impossible to understand the present Middle East without a knowledge of the three great religions that emanate from the area—Judaism, Christianity and Islam. These three faiths all trace their spiritual roots back to the same individual, Abraham." "However, conflict between Christians and Muslims has been a constant theme of history for 14 centuries." "Many other factors have contributed to the rise of Islamic fundamentalism and subsequent terrorism, including the Israeli-Palestinian problem and the domination of American culture." "After so much death and destruction, and centuries of war and unrest in the Middle East, imagine what a difference the second coming of Jesus Christ will make."

Book excerpt: 'It has been slowly dawning on me over many years that there is a fundamental problem deep at the heart of Christian faith and practice as I have known them . . . we have all forgotten what the four Gospels are about.' With that surprising assertion, Tom Wright launches this ground-breaking work in which he helps us to see the gospel story in radically a new light, and to acknowledge that, for many generations, the Church has been avoiding its full impact and holding back from proclaiming its full meaning. 'Classic Wright: clear, accessible, robust, engaging and challenging.' Paula Gooder in Third Way 'Scholarly, accessible, insightful and provocative.' Christianity 'Wright argues compellingly that the twin themes of kingdom and cross are inseparably linked. . . This is a much-needed reorientation. The book makes its case for 'rethinking' cogently and deserves widespread attention.' Theology

Book King of the North

  • Author : Heidi Heiks
  • Publisher : TEACH Services, Inc.
  • Release : 2011-08-31

Download or read book King of the North written by Heidi Heiks and published by TEACH Services, Inc.. This book was released on 2011-08-31 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are two schools of thought on the interpretation of Daniel 11, especially the closing verses which are seen as still to be fulfilled in the future. The first may be called the literal historical view in which the kings of the north and south are seen as literal geo-political entities in the present day Middle East. Adventist interpreters favored this view until the end of World War I when the British and the Turks fought a battle at Megiddo (Armageddon), but Christ did not come after it. This failure led to the development of the second view, what may be called the spiritual or symbolic interpretation. By the end of World War II most Adventist interpreters had adopted this view. In this case, the king of the south no longer refers to Egypt but it is seen as a symbol for an end time spiritual or political power. Likewise, the king of the north is no longer Syria, but an alternate opposing spiritual or political power. In this school of thought, search is made for a fitting application for these symbols and several possibilities need to be considered. Brother Heiks stands squarely within the parameters of the symbolic approach and he has given careful and detailed consideration to the possibilities that need to be examined in carrying out his search for the correct application of these symbols.
