Book Carol the Ancient Yuletide Troll

Download or read book Carol the Ancient Yuletide Troll written by Matt Taylor and published by Morgan James Publishing. This book was released on 2017-12-01 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carol, The Ancient Yuletide Troll is the first in a series of stories about Carol, a good troll who serves as a Santa figure for monsters. It introduces Carol, and explains how she became Santa’s helper for delivering toys to the monsters. When Carol sees that the other monsters don’t like her because she’s the only one who receives presents from Santa (as she is the only monster who is “nice”), Carol pays Santa a visit. Santa encourages Carol to be the one to help turn the monsters around and get them on his nice list too. Carol tries, but the other monsters just ignore her, inspiring her to take matters into her own hands. She begins secretly giving toys to the naughty monsters instead of continuing to try and turn them into nice ones. Despite her good intentions, will Carol’s actions go against Santa’s wishes and put her on the naughty list as well? This fun, original story will not only teach children the importance of good behavior, but will teach them a great lesson in friendship, kindness, and sharing. Carol, The Ancient Yuletide Troll shows children the true spirit of Christmas in a new way from a not-so-scary monster named Carol.

Indeed, trolls would not be interesting had they not made this jump, first to illustrations in the Nordic book market, then on to Scandinavian literature and drama, and far beyond. Since then they have never gone away, and in their various guises they continue to appeal to the imagination around the world. From the Vikings to the Moomins, the Brothers Grimm and the Three Billy Goats Gruff, this book explores the panoply of trolls and their history and their continuing presence today

Fiddle Sticks and Dag Na-bit were putting up Braidan, Brianna, and Orianna. They were tired and hungry because that was their first long trip and they didn't really get a break. They flew home faster because they were worried about Santa. Fiddle Sticks and Dag Na-bit fed them and brushed them. The reindeer all laid down and fell fast asleep. Fiddle Sticks said "If Santa can't deliver presents who is going to?" Dag Na-bit asks, "who says he can't?" Fiddle Sticks said "He can't if he has a broken leg, and the reindeer won't fly for any of us, how many times have we all tried?" Honey is a mother of four children and credits them with her inspiration for this book. Book The Troll Inside You

Download or read book The Troll Inside You written by Ármann Jakobsson and published by punctum books. This book was released on 2017 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do medieval Icelanders mean when they say "troll"? What did they see when they saw a troll? What did the troll signify to them? And why did they see them? The principal subject of this book is the Norse idea of the troll, which the author uses to engage with the larger topic of paranormal experiences in the medieval North. The texts under study are from 13th-, 14th-, and 15th-century Iceland. The focus of the book is on the ways in which paranormal experiences are related and defined in these texts and how those definitions have framed and continue to frame scholarly interpretations of the paranormal. The book is partitioned into numerous brief chapters, each with its own theme. In each case the author is not least concerned with how the paranormal functions within medieval society and in the minds of the individuals who encounter and experience it and go on to narrate these experiences through intermediaries. The author connects the paranormal encounter closely with fears and these fears are intertwined with various aspects of the human experience including gender, family ties, and death. The Troll Inside You hovers over the boundaries of scholarship and literature. Its aim is to prick and provoke but above all to challenge its audience to reconsider some of their preconceived ideas about the medieval past.
