Book excerpt: Living the Christian life is a constant battle between good and evil. This book discusses these conflicts in terms of the yoke each of us carries through life. The yoke presented to us by Satan holds a beauty of sorts, which causes our hearts and minds to glance in different directions--directions which can send us into a spin of disaster for ourselves and those around us. On the other hand, Jesus Christ has a yoke perfectly fitted for us. It is a yoke designed to withstand the tribulations and leads us into righteousness according to the design in which God has divinely orchestrated. One yoke brings with its pleasures, the curse of death. When we plow with it, all we leave behind is the stench of dying relationships and our own decay. The yoke of Christ brings pleasure to the soul and a call to servant-hood. It enables us to plow ground that will grow and produce good fruit, blessings of peaceable relations with others and God. Rod Landreth has been a born again Christian since 1975. Since that time, he has had the opportunity to witness the rise and the fall of many, including himself. These rises and falls came by choices made from what appeared to be sweet intentions from the "evil one," but always to no avail--bringing much bitterness to the soul. Ordained in 1997, he is currently the pastor of Church of the Living Word, in West Point, CA. His heart is set on revealing how quick and easy it is for even the most seasoned Christians to be caught within the guile of Satan, calling evil good and good evil.

Book The Great Tithing Scam

    Book Details:
  • Author : A. Bruce Wells
  • Publisher : AuthorHouse
  • Release : 2006-07
  • ISBN : 1425916023
  • Pages : 405 pages

Download or read book The Great Tithing Scam written by A. Bruce Wells and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2006-07 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some have said that the word scam is too strong for a book that argues against the church's most sacred cow, but scam is exactly the right word because tithing has been put forth as a duty that will earn that which Christ suffered and died to freely give us. Not only is it wrong to suggest that tithing will do what Christ died to do, such as open heaven or make one right with God, but such teaching is an insult to His sacrifice and in reality, an enemy to the Cross even as circumcision was in the early church. Our ministers have been naively leading the church back under the Old Testament Law, and its curse, with imagined tithing promises that have gone way beyond even that which Malachi promised. Under the guise of obedience, faithfulness and stewardship, we've been duped into believing we must prove ourselves without realizing that practicing the Law (tithing) blocks us from becoming sons and heirs according to Galatians 4: 5. Do you know that The book of Malachi was never intended to be instruction to the New Testament church? All the ordinances in Malachi (including tithing) were nailed to Jesus' cross, according to Colossians chapter 2? Tithing is part of the Law according to Matt. 23: 23, Malachi 3: 7, and Hebrews 7: 18? The practice of tithing, the Law, can expose you to the curse of the Law causing incurable sicknesses, debt, death, and many other problems, according to the Apostle Paul in Galatians 3: 10? The practice of tithing actually removes you from the state of grace and places you back the category of sinner? Hebrews 5: 4 Tithing causes you to frustrate the grace of God, and causes Christ to profit you nothing? Galatians 2: 21 and 5: 2 Making tithing a practicetoday actually causes the New Testament to become another gospel according to Paul in Galatians 1: 6? Order The Great Tithing Scam today and find out what else tithing will or won't do.

Book excerpt: "Cheap grace is the mortal enemy of our church. Our struggle today is for costly grace." And with that sharp warning to his own church, which was engaged in bitter conflict with the official nazified state church, Dietrich Bonhoeffer began his book Discipleship (formerly entitled The Cost of Discipleship). Originally published in 1937, it soon became a classic exposition of what it means to follow Christ in a modern world beset by a dangerous and criminal government. At its center stands an interpretation of the Sermon on the Mount: what Jesus demanded of his followers-and how the life of discipleship is to be continued in all ages of the post- resurrection church. "Every call of Jesus is a call to death," Bonhoeffer wrote. His own life ended in martyrdom on April 9, 1945. Freshly translated from the German critical edition, Discipleship provides a more accurate rendering of the text and extensive aids and commentary to clarify the meaning, context, and reception of this work and its attempt to resist the Nazi ideology then infecting German Christian churches.

This book deals with the special class of mechatronics that has enabled the exceptional levels of accuracy and speed of high-tech equipment applied in the semiconductor industry, realising the continuous shrink in detailing of micro-electronics and MEMS. As well as the more frequently presented standard subjects of dynamics, motion control, electronics and electromechanics, this book includes an overview of systems engineering, optics and precision measurement systems, in an attempt to establish a connection between these fields under one umbrella. But truth can sometimes take a minute to grasp because we contend with it in a variety of ways under a variety of circumstances. Once Jesus collides with our lives—our deepest needs, cultural biases, personal motivations, even prideful objections—the outcome can be infuriating. Or exhilarating. Or anything in between. In The Chosen Book Four, explore the angles from which you can better see Jesus and the things He taught. Learn from His followers how to really hear. To repent. To wait on His wisdom and timing. To obey. Written to accompany the hit multi-season series, each of these forty devotions contains a Scripture, a unique look into a Gospel story, suggestions for prayer, and questions that lead you further in your relationship with Christ. May we welcome His rebuke and testify to the Truth who is ever working within us...the outcome of which will, indeed, be nothing short of exhilarating.

Download or read book Hospitable Witnessing written by Priscilla Sun Kyung Oh and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2018-06-18 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on her own experience of befriending a person suffering from a long-term mental health challenge, Priscilla Oh reflects on the meaning of care and friendship theologically. Using autoethnography, she goes beyond the personal experience and examines various issues surrounding mental health. Hospitable Witnessing candidly takes readers into the everyday life of being with a mentally ill person. There are emotional challenges and contingencies in sustaining friendship and caring for a person with a long-term mental health problem. Oh points out that those who care for a loved one during a long-term illness inevitably experience "burnout" resulting from the constant care requirements. Under such an enormous disruption, we need to be compassionate toward another's suffering and be willing to be present and available for them. This book suggests our need of one another and identifies three important Christian practices: caring as we are being made in the image of God, compassion as being present with the sufferer, and lament as to revitalize our faith and hope.
