Download or read book Production Chemicals for the Oil and Gas Industry written by Malcolm A. Kelland and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-03-13 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text discusses a wide variety of production chemicals used by the oil and gas industry for down-hole and topside applications both onshore and offshore. It reviews all past and present classes of production chemicals, providing numerous difficult-to-obtain references. Unlike other texts that focus on how products perform in the field, this book focuses on the specific structures of chemicals that are known to deliver the required or desired performance. Where known, it also details the environmental aspects of the chemicals discussed and their success in the field.

Download or read book Synthesis Gas written by James G. Speight and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-06-10 with total page 512 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a follow-up to the Handbook of Gasification Technology, also from Wiley-Scrivener, Synthesis Gas goes into more depth on how the products from this important technology can reduce our global carbon footprint and lead the United States, and other countries, toward energy independence. The environmental benefits are very high, and, along with carbon capture and renewable fuels, synthesis gas (or syngas) is a huge step toward environmental sustainability. Synthesis gas is one of the most important advancements that has ever occurred in energy production. Using this technology, for example, coal, biomass, waste products, or a combination of two or more of these can be gasified into a product that has roughly half the carbon footprint of coal alone. Used on a massive scale, just think of the potential for reducing carbon emissions! Synthesis Gas covers all aspects of the technology, from the chemistry, processes, and production, to the products, feedstocks, and even safety in the plant. Whether a veteran engineer or scientist using it as a reference or a professor using it as a textbook, this outstanding new volume is a must-have for any library.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from Gas Manufacture: The Chemistry of a Practical Handbook on the Production, Purification, and Testing of Illuminated Gas, and the Assay of the Bye-Products of Gas Manufacture; For the Use of Students, Chemists, and Gas Engineers The enormous growth of the Gas Industry during the past twenty years and the many new departures in the manufacture and application of gas have rendered the older works on Gas Manufacture comparatively useless to the modem student; it was, therefore, with pleasure that I undertook, at the request of the publishers, to endeavour to place at his disposal a text-book embodying the more recent advances. The raw materials - e.g., coal, coke, oil, &c. - commonly used in the manufacture are dealt with in Chapter I. Following this arc two chapters dealing solely with the production of coal gas, which still forms the bulk of the illuminating gas of the world. The modern improvements in apparatus and the most advanced methods of purification are dealt with in these chapters. The recent extensive employment of petroleum for gas-making has almost revolutionized some branches of the industry, and Chapters IV., V., and VI. are chiefly concerned with methods of utilizing mineral oils. The immense importance of a knowledge of the components of gas as a guide to its application, and, also, as an aid at different stages of its manufacture, justifies the introduction of a special chapter on Gas Analysis.
