Two resident and 3 non-resident members were reinstated. Twenty-nine resident and 20 non resident members died during the year; five resident and 13 non-resident members resigned. Thirty-three resident members were transferred to the non-resident class, and 13 non-resident members were transferred to the resident class. At the end of the year there were 74 vacancies in the resi dent class and 63 in, the non-resident class, with 84 candidates in the former and 55 candidates in the latter. One display was made up of modern book designs published by Jonathan Williams and presented to the Century by John Farrar. The other was a selection of items published by the Corcoran Gallery and presented by Herman Warner Williams, Jr. A number of books were borrowed during the year and never returned. Among them was the handsome Manon Lescaut in Slipcase, illustrated by T. M. Cleland. Frank Altschul presented the Association with a replacement copy, autographed by Mr. Cleland. Library accessions in the calendar year 1960 numbered 544 volumes (446 by purchase, 98 by donation). Books and pamphlets with Century connections amounted to 105.
