On his return, on vacation, in 1918, Mr. Allison very kindly presented to the Geological Survey Her barium his beautiful collection, which is frequently referred to in the list as Allison Herbarium (abbreviated, All. Our list of grasses is taken almost entirely from the splen did Tracy Collection in the Department of Botany of the Missis sippi Agricultural and Mechanical College, free access to which was given through the courtesy of Professor J.
