On March 11, 2011, a massive earthquake occurred off the northeastern coast of Japan, triggering a 50-foot tsunami that crushed everything in its path—highways, airports, villages, trains, and buses—leaving death and destruction behind, and causing a major radiation leak from five nuclear plants. Here eighteen writers give us their trenchant observations and emotional responses to such a tragedy, in what is a fascinating, enigmatic and poignant collection.

Download or read book The Earthquake The 7 Seals written by Richard Ruhling and published by Kdp. This book was released on 2021-04-21 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A huge earthquake initiates the biblical end-times and those who survive will need to have a covenant with Christ. This is how we become God's kingdom as in Exodus 19:5,6. "In the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom..." Daniel 2:44. The covenant also means we become the Bride of Christ, Jeremiah 3:14. This is what the wedding parables are about, not a rapture. Bible covenants were linked to 7's, like the 7 ewes that Abraham gave to Abimelech in a covenant. We give God the 7's--7 topics that are emphasized 7 times in the Bible as a mark of end-time truth. Committing ourselves to these and honoring them will mean the difference between life and death. Making this covenant promptly at the beginning of end-times is important as the imagery of the five foolish virgins who arrived too late suggests. These seven topics are about God, His government (laws) and what He expects from us, and His provision for us when the world goes to global government to compel everyone to false worship (Revelation 13).

Download or read book Final War written by Leo Giampietro and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-04 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the end there will be many wars; this will be one of the signs that the end is near. In Matthew 24:7-8, Jesus Christ foretold signs that would mark the time leading up to His return: "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places ..." We have certainly seen devastating earthquakes in recent years. The December 2004 earthquake off Indonesia was the most powerful in decades, unleashing a massive tsunami that took some 300,000 lives. Less than a year later, an earthquake in southern Asia killed another 30,000. In Matthew 24:7, the Greek word translated "earthquakes" is seismos, from which we derive such English words as "seismology," referring to the study of earthquakes. Strong's Lexicon defines it as "a commotion, i.e. (of the air) a gale, (of the ground) an earthquake-earthquake, tempest. Seismos has a broader meaning than just the earth shaking. Matthew 8 records how a violent storm overtook Jesus and His disciples on the Sea of Galilee, threatening to capsize their boat and drown them-until Jesus miraculously calmed the winds and waves.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout history, God has used earthquakes to prove His presence, deliver His people, execute His wrath, or demonstrate His power. In the future, the Bible says, earthquakes will also punctuate significant happenings set for the last days. The writings of more than two dozen individuals in church history who have prophesied specific earthquakes for the end times are compiled in this book by Stanley Hoerman and Bob Armstrong. Included are the prophecies of St. Hildegard from the twelfth century, Mother Shipton from the sixteenth century, William Branham from the twentieth century, and current Christians such as Jim Bakker. This trumpet call for believers to "get ready" for the end times offers a historical thread of prophetic expressions, each pointing us toward dramatic seismic events to come at the end of the age.

Book Easter Earthquake

  • ISBN : 0835817180

Download or read book Easter Earthquake written by James A. Harnish and published by Upper Room Books. This book was released on 2017-10-01 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever been in an earthquake? Earthquakes shake our most basic assumptions: that the ground will remain steady beneath our feet, that the world's current existence is the way it will always be. But when tectonic plates shift under the earth's surface and the ground shakes beneath our feet, it rattles the bedrock assumptions on which we build our lives. The Gospel of Matthew reports that on the first Easter morning, an earthquake rocked the earth, ripped open the tomb, and scared the Roman guards at the tomb, who "shook with fear and became like dead men" (Matthew 28:4). This is the second earthquake reported by Matthew. The first one took place on Good Friday, when the noonday sky turned black and Jesus died. In Easter Earthquake, James Harnish invites us to place the resurrection at the center of our Lenten journey. This 6-week study explores how Christ's resurrection shakes some of our most basic assumptions about ourselves and God. "The earth-shaking promise of Easter is that God has not forsaken any of us," Harnish writes. "The risen Christ will meet us along the confused, chaotic, fearful paths of our lives and speak the same words the women hear at the tomb: 'Do not be afraid .'" This book reverses the usual focus of Lenten studies by starting at the empty tomb and seeing the entire journey in light of the resurrection. Join James Harnish in this energizing exploration that will inspire you to live as a more faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. FEATURES A guide for daily mediation and prayer An outline for small-group meetings Begins with Ash Wednesday and continues through Easter Each week contains 5 readings, a prayer focus, and suggestions for small-group interaction Includes a hymn each week
