The narrator is a rather amorphous figure that can actually be anyone who has thought about these issues. There are no characters per sé, but as the novel evolves, night, darkness, the dreaming process, the mind, and thought become the main characters. The story is part of a very long, complex dream that the narrator seems to be going through as he makes his way to the realization that the Higher Self is the source of everything.

Book The Routledge History of Loneliness

Download or read book The Routledge History of Loneliness written by Katie Barclay and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-02-28 with total page 710 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Routledge History of Loneliness takes a multidisciplinary approach to the history of a modern emotion, exploring its form and development across cultures from the seventeenth century to the present. Bringing together thirty scholars from various disciplines, including history, anthropology, philosophy, literature and art history, the volume considers how loneliness was represented in art and literature, conceptualised by philosophers and writers and described by people in their personal narratives. It considers loneliness as a feeling so often defined in contrast to sociability and affective connections, particularly attending to loneliness in relation to the family, household and community. Acknowledging that loneliness is a relatively novel term in English, the book explores its precedents in ideas about solitude, melancholy and nostalgia, as well as how it might be considered in cross-cultural perspectives. With wide appeal to students and researchers in a variety of subjects, including the history of emotions, social sciences and literature, this volume brings a critical historical perspective to an emotion with contemporary significance.

This book is for you if you find yourself on a journey through grief, or are supporting someone else through their journey. The book charts my first year of being a widower, its chapters are a series of blog posts I wrote immediately after my beautiful wife, Claire, died. This book is ordered chronologically by days, then weeks then months, this allows you to dip into any time after your event which feels relevant to you and see what I was saying and thinking at that same time. Each blog post I wrote and therefore each chapter in this book is tagged, the website is searchable by each of those tags and I've used the same tags here for each chapter. The tags represent feelings, emotions and events. If you go to the index at the back of the book you can find those tags or themes and discover which of the chapters/blog posts will be most relevant to how you are feeling right now. As with the blog, I feel like I'm with you on your journey as you read this book... Just know you are not alone.

This book was released on 2016-11-07 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The presentation of the book ‘Mirobolant Feelings’ written by Georgeta Blendea Zamfir, Doctor Honoris Causa, nominated for the Nobel Prize The book includes 4 micro-novels. I think that the reader from nowadays will find in an artistic sublime concentration, essences in every micro-novel. There is also a link of the micro-novels, a ‘mandala’ how the critics accentuated, namely the solar love. It was stated that nobody from the literature presented the physical and ideal love as I did in this book. The optimistic theories of the personal development that I acquired, highlights the possibility of a world full of happiness. The readers said to me that they have learned to be happy, by reading: ‘Mirobolant Feelings’. The nature with its greatness is a link of the micro-novels. The numbers’ theory will delight in ‘parallel lives, the last micro-novel from the book, with a new and charming vision of love. My femininity does not stop me to register in the horizon of the male pen, as the big critic highlighted, the Romanian academician Constantin Cioproga.

Book excerpt: On a cruel, silent night, a mother abandoned her child in a faraway land; an isolated island where the little boy had to face the unknown fate on his own. He grew up to have unique talents, a charismatic personality and a captivating appearance, and above all, he earned a precious place in the people´s hearts. But beyond his strong façade, he kept his weaknesses as a secret to himself, and none of his people knew what he was going through deep inside. The young, wise man could not escape the painful questions of the past, he suffered from doubts in the present and worried about the future. But these were not all his fears; there has been something alarming that caused him endless, sleepless nights. He saw signs of a hidden threat, a great danger that would end the existence of the island and the people he dearly loves and promised to protect; peace on his land was coming to an end, and it was only a matter of time before the disguised evil wins. And there was no other way to save the island except through Her... Tales say that she has all the answers to what man seeks, she holds the keys to the secrets of everything, but the problem is; she was a strange, grand mystery herself. Some people believe that she is still present to the day, and few suspect that she ever existed, while others insist that she lived but centuries ago and what remained are stories about her. But that´s not the only thing that the people of the island disagreed upon; no one was sure of the true identity of this legendary woman; is she an angel or the devil himself? Was she a witch or a blessed, old lady with spiritual gifts, or she is much more than anyone could ever imagine? He received many warnings not to try to find her, but nonetheless, he decided to take this insane risk. He sailed away, leaving his land for the very first time in his life and began his journey; not only for the sake of his people and his land, but secretly he wished to discover her truth and learn her secrets.

Book Alone

Download or read book Alone written by Bill Jones and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2014-07-31 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shortlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award. One winter's night in 1976, over 20 million people in Britain watched John Curry skate to Olympic glory on an ice rink in Austria. Many millions more watched around the world. Overnight he became one of the most famous men on the planet. He was awarded the OBE. He was chosen as BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Curry had changed ice skating from marginal sport to high art. And yet the man was – and would always remain – an absolute mystery to a world that had been dazzled by his gift. Surely, men's skating was supposed to be Cossack-muscular, not sensual and ambiguous like this. Curry himself was an often-tortured man of labyrinthine complexity. For the first time, Alone untangles the extraordinary web of his toxic, troubled, brilliant – and short – life. It is a story of childhood nightmares, furious ambition, sporting genius, lifelong rivalries, homophobia, Cold War politics, financial ruin and deep personal tragedy. Alone reveals the restless, impatient, often dark soul of a man whose words could lacerate, whose skating invariably moved audiences to tears, and who – after succumbing to AIDS, as so many of his fellow artists and friends did – died of a heart attack aged just 44.
